KeAloha, Isabelle, Anne, Charles, Midori...they are all amazing to our family. We have been clients since 2010. They have always treated us like family. We moved to Lake Tahoe for a few years and opened our own business..who was always there for us? Couch. I'm not full-of-it. Quite honestly, the only people I trust and would recommend any of my family or friends to is them. This sounds cliche but if you are in a bind or not, they are trustworthy, honest, loyal. KeAloha has called me at 10p, on April 14th many times, just to tell us how much she has saved for our family. I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND ANYONE ELSE BUT THEM. BIBLE.

No, no, no. Just no. Worked with partial success with Ke'Aloha on accounting/taxes for a nonprofit I directed, and decided to do personal taxes one year when I came up too close to the deadline. Gave her a box of documents -- TOO many -- just before taxes were due, a big mea culpa; BUT I put the most important stuff at the top with a draft of EACH/EVERY needed form and an instruction sheet with a list of priorities on what to look over in terms of finding possible deductions, with associated documentation in its own folder on top of the box (and a comment to "look through the box for x,y,z ONLY IF you have time"). She simply transcribed what I already had on the draft forms onto her own forms -- not a single change, no additional deductions, etc. -- and signed her name. Charged me several hundred dollars, and wouldn't offer any refund (even partial) when requested. I looked over my forms later when I had time and submitted an amended return with substantial $$ coming back to me, a huge chunk having essentially gone into her pocket. UGH.

KeAloha and her lovely staff have been preparing my taxes for 10 years and they consistently save my small business money. Like a lot of people, doing my taxes isn't high on my list of fun things to do but I know that KeAloha is going to take good care of me. I really appreciate them and all the heart they put into what they do. I can't recommend them highly enough!

This place is too weird and pricey for a tax place (its only a tax place!). I took my business somewhere else.

KeAloha is simply amazing. I cannot recommend KeAloha Couch highly enough. I used her to do an estate’s taxes last year and was blown away. She is brilliant and knows more tax law than anyone I have ever met. She also goes to tax court regularly, specializes in complex cases, knows the examiners and judges in SF, and yet she is startlingly reasonable. She is also fast, communicates well, explains even complicated concepts easily, and handles each client personally. Her staff is amazing. I used her to close the estate this year and continued to be impressed. I don’t know who those who said she was overpriced are used to having prepare their taxes! I have been paying another excellent CPA over double what she charged me.

KeAloha and the gang are amazing, took me through a really difficult tax issue and I came out smelling like roses. KeAloha especially took the time with me and worked through everything with undo patience and understanding. If you have a tax issue that is causing you a lot of stress, this is the place to go. K is obviously an expert in her field and is kind to boot. I can't thank you guys enough. Six stars.

I went to KeAloha for two years and they made many errors, from leaving key spots blank, to under reporting my income. I'm still dealing with the IRS 4 years later. They are way over priced for how sloppy they were. I also had H&R Block look over my taxes done by them and they made an additional error which cost me abut $500 less per return. I thought of asking for them to correct it but I just don't even want to deal with this shady operation anymore. They are negligent.

So, it's tax season again and I'm thinking back to my experience with Couch and Associates when they prepared my 2013 return. Let's see... As another review mentioned, staff had a snooty tone over the phone. I suppose I was duped into thinking I was dealing with a premium operation. (Well, it was in one way: price.) I also was asked to sign a fairly imposing memorandum in order to engage the service. During my visit Ms. Couch spent a lot of time chatting and asking personal questions, which didn't leave a lot of time or energy to focus on details of the tax situation that prompted me to seek a preparer in the first place. When my return was done, I found an error in calculating a deduction because they got my age wrong. Why did they assume my age instead of asking me? I then spent a fair amount of time playing phone tag to explain the error and--what should have been quite unnecessary--reminding Ms. Couch that I had paid her a considerable fee to have my return done correctly and on time. From her end, I got the impression she thought she was doing me a favor. In the end, I did get the forms I needed, but I also found that one of the original documents I had provided was missing. They never located it for me. The next year, I went to a different preparer, who was no-nonsense, got the job done right, and at half the price.

Amazing personal service. Every year like clock work they always end up saving me money. Their secured cloud system for sending and receiving personal information is top notch. Highly recommend.

I had a terrible experience with this company. First, they are horribly disorganized. The first time I called, I was told by the receptionist to just drop off my taxes, even after I explained that I was a new client. I made an appointment anyway a few weeks after I dropped them off because i wanted to go over them with KeAloha. At the meeting, I was told by KeAloha that she hadn't started them yet because she likes to meet her new clients, and why hadn't I made an appointment earlier? So we filed an extension. Fine. The next meeting, after tax season was over, we waited for 45 min. for KeAloha to show up because apparently she was medicating her cat. When the meeting finally started it was obvious that she had done nothing to prepare for it--not even glance at the file. We had to spend more time rehashing information we had already told her once before. Even all this could have been swallowed, except that the people at the company then did our taxes incorrectly, resulting in what would have been our owing thousands of dollars. The kicker, though, was that when my husband asked KeAloha to walk him through our taxes because the numbers looked wrong to him, she mocked him for being detail-oriented. She refered him to her partner, who actually did our taxes, and he admitted while on the phone with my husband that he had made a mistake. So instead of paying thousands, we got a refund. But only because my husband caught the error.
