A great selection local companies, fresh organic produce, a varied hot bar, and fresh breads and meats. Just everything. A local favorite.

One of the coolest grocery stores I've ever been to! There is truly something for everyone here from the vast selection of colorful produce to artisan bread to locally prepared foods. While some items are a bit pricey, you can definitely shop here on a budget if you know what to pick. Additionally, the store is both vegan/vegetarian friendly and I think has a great policy on waste. Many items like cashews are kept in bulk to reduce on plastic. If you like fresh food or simply a solid unique grocery store, the Berkeley Bowl is the way to go!

What a fantastic store! Just visiting for holidays - does anyone know of a similar market in Pasadena/LA area? (Not Whole Foods)

Consistently bad experience at checkout again today. What has happened to the people who work here that makes them so miserable. Surely customers treat them no differently than other retail employees are treated. On that note, I went to Berkeley Bowl directly from Trader Joe's where the checkout person was so nice that I thanked him just for being so pleasant and "human." At Trader Joe's another employee pleasantly walked me to the location of a product I was searching for.At Berkeley Bowl, whether it's an employee on the floor, at the register or customer service, there is about an 80% chance that they will be somewhere on the unpleasant scale. Twenty percent they will be okay and, so far I have never experienced anyone as just simply normally neighborly as almost every Trader Joe's employee.I would shop exclusively at TJ's. They deserve my business and I leave in a good mood, except that they do not have all of the items I look for. Now, I will write a TJ's review.

A great supermarket with an amazing variety and selection of everything! Take banana for example, they carry more than 10 kinds of bananas. They also have some mushrooms that I, as a mushroom lover, never knew before!Sushi there was tasty too! Believe it or not, way better than some sushi buffet or warehouse sushi.

Just out with my old pals Shaun Cassidy and Bobby Sherman, they were up from Inglewood for the Partridge Family reunion concert at the Colosseum on Thursday. They were so happy about staying at Country Club they took me out to lunch, they had planned on going to Saul's deli but I told them the Berkeley Bowl Marketplace has a much better offering. So, off we went. The sandwiches were amazing!5 stars all day long. ☆☆☆☆☆

The new bags are absolutely terrible. People are throwing them everywhere and they fall apart. Fire the person who came up with completely ridiculous compostable bags that don't work.

They have everything! From a culinary standpoint--fabulous. However, because of their large selection, some items are not quite ripe. Also, be prepared for bumper carts and lots of people. Checkout lines can be long, so this is not a quick stop, but definitely worth it. Prices are excellent.

This refers ONLY to BB catering service, as I love Berkeley Bowl and shop there regularly. It's the best! I decided to give their catering a try. Tried to order a sushi plate for pickup online. Website is completely non-functional, rejected my (up to date) card three times. Called to sort out the problem, got a very rude and unhelpful man on the other hand. OK, whatever. Never got a confirmation. Called again two days later to ask about the order. Again, incredibly rude and unresponsive on the phone. Didn't even say hello or identify themselves. Just waited, silently, for several minutes. Told me there was no order as the charge never went through. They should a) fix their website for catering orders and b) get someone to answer the phone who has some minimal customer service skills. (As in, how to answer the phone)

Excellent service from Shawn at the meat counter who was extremely knowledgable and went out of his way to help me. I had many questions about cuts/quality/what meat was fed/best cuts for my purposes. He answered all my questions and went out of his way to get me a perfect option for what I was looking for. Thanks again Shawn!!! And shout out to all the other's working behind that counter who were also helpful (although I didn't get your names). Great team! Will definitely be back.

Wow it took me so long to visit Berkeley Bowl but it really lives up to the hype. I was looking around for black garlic, and after checking out several stores in SF (with no luck), I was getting pretty desperate. When I walked into Berkeley Bowl, and headed towards their produce section, I was pretty overwhelmed. There were rows and rows of produce, basically everything you could need. However, I was still having trouble finding black garlic so I asked an employee. They were super helpful and knew exactly where to point me. To my surprise, it was hanging right at the cash registers. FYI it was pretty busy in there (on a Saturday, before Thanksgiving) and there were a lot of people to navigate through. Maybe it's not so bad on a normal day, but something to keep in mind if you like a more relaxed shopping environment.
