I have taken my aging Subaru here multiple times in the past few years. The service is always fast and helpful, and the price is always fair. I've never had any issues here and I would highly recommend Berkeley Auto Service to anyone who needs a good mechanic!

I wanted to write a follow-up review for Berkley Auto Service after an exceptional recent experience. Just the other day, I noticed a headlight was out on my 2016 Subaru Impreza Sport. I immediately called Berkley Auto Service. The owner, who was incredibly friendly and helpful, directed me to a nearby store where I could quickly buy the necessary part. After purchasing the part, I returned to the shop where the owner installed it on the spot—free of charge. He did this even though he was just about to close for the day and his shop was full. This quick fix was a lifesaver, as I had a long drive to San Jose planned for the next morning. I’m immensely grateful for the help and support from Berkley Auto Service. I highly recommend them for their outstanding service and customer care. Thank you!

I recently made my second trip to Berkeley Auto Service on San Pablo Avenue for an oil change and a diagnostic check in preparation for several long road trips. My experience was outstanding, further solidifying my trust in their service.
Carlos, the technician who assisted me, epitomizes honesty and integrity in the auto service industry. He had the opportunity to charge significantly, yet he chose to be fair and compassionate with his pricing. His transparency and sincerity are not only reassuring but also incredibly rare in this business.
The service's efficiency was equally impressive. I was able to drop off my car on the same day I called, and by the next morning, it was ready for pick-up. This quick turnaround is incredibly convenient, especially for those with tight schedules.
Another aspect that stood out to me was the seamless quote estimate system. Before any repairs were done, I received an email with a detailed overview of all the checks performed, including tire pressure and the results of the diagnostic. After having worked with several different mechanics in the Bay, I am so happy to have found this one. Carlos is honest, straightforward and reasonable in price. They use a modern online communication system so it’s easy to see and approve services clearly without so much back and forth.

I went to BAS with a electrical light switch I bought online for my old (1995) mercury Village van, but since I was moving I did not have time together it installed by the original garage who diagnosed the problemm. I came to Carlos at BAS and he installed it free!! I now have my new mechanic for the life of this car in Berkeley! He also is a very personable guy with a very interesting personal story. Joe Berry

Would not recommend-terrible and sloppy. Had two incidents with them-one was poor QC and the second was straight up miss on their part. They might be cheap but you get what you pay for. Stay away

My car had its catalytic converter stolen, so I brought it to Carlos's shop. He had experience dealing with my car insurance and the quote and insurance payout went smoothly.Despite the long wait for Toyota to send the new part, Carlos was very communicative throughout the whole process and we were finally able to get the car fixed.
