The Berkeley Art Center is a small community art gallery with rotating exhibitions of contemporary art mostly created by local artists.
The gallery is located within Live Oak Park, and is most easily accessible from Walnut Street. The main building contains a reception area with bathroom, door to backyard, and a main gallery. The gallery is a single room with a vaulted ceiling, so it appears quite spacious from the inside.
It's worth stopping by for the free exhibition if you are visiting Live Oak Park while the Art Center is open, but otherwise probably isn't worth a special trip unless there is an event. The gallery hours are limited to Thu-Sun 12pm-5pm.

Nice place for a chill outdoor event. Picnic tables and grills are available and use of the bathrooms. Quiet neighborhood with street parking.

It's certainly an interesting building and the park is beautiful. On display is a handful of art pieces. These range from "I think that's literally a piece of garbage that was supposed to be thrown away by the janitor" to, fairly interesting. As a tax paying Berkeley resident, I can't help but think how much $$$$$$$ it's taking to prop this place up - a place with little traffic, only a dozen or so pieces of art, and constant staffing. Sigh..

Nice gallery located in a residential setting. They appear to be interested in featuring Bay Area and socially relevant art. Nice. Only problem is parking can be difficult at times.
