This place has a little of everything and a good variety too! Everything you might need .. they usually have it unless they're out! I really like the staff there as they are customer oriented and seem to really want to be helpful With whatever home needs you might have and have been very helpful when I have absolutely no idea what to do to fix a home situation and have been great about providing me with suggestions / options! Now for the bad part... Parking! That part of town has over the years been turned into a one way/ wrong way street area with only metered curbside parking if you can find one close by. That is the only downside to this place but otherwise it's a "Thumbs Up" from me!

I had a horrible experience today with Johnathon and Truti. I asked Truti for help locating a specific screw with a size, but she only pointed in the direction without offering assistance. Later, I asked Johnathon, who provided some help. When I politely mentioned to Truti that it didn't take much to help me find what I needed, Johnathon angrily confronted me, raising his voice and questioning my manner of speaking to a woman. He proceeded to insult me, saying it wasn't their fault I didn't know about screws and sizes. I was shocked by his behavior and asked if this was their idea of customer service. Feeling threatened, I had to request him to leave me alone, fearing he might assault me. He was yelling at me and even Truti also had to intervene and ask him to leave. I won't be returning to this store due to the horrible experience and rude customer service that made me feel uncomfortable. The management really needs to improve their training, and I'm considering reporting this incident to their corporate office. I'm absolutely shocked by this encounter.

Ace Hardware, in general, has friendly employees and a nice selection of items. This location in particular has super nice people working here who are always willing to answer questions. It’s like walking into a friend’s house. Except you have to pay for the things you walk out with.

Everything is so overpriced and the cashiers are very rude and unprofessional. They think they are doing us a favor when you buy. The worst place bad service with the cashiers!

They're all disgustingTalking about customers and assuming they're going to steal.They're standing over me, stereotyping me, watching me like a hawk, because I guess I look like a thieving vagrant... They're all waiting for me to steal, talking about me where I can hear them...And then, I pull out a wallet full of $20s to buy my set of two pliers, with these disgusting managers breathing down the back of my neck.I mean, I understand they're bored...Disgusting manager and employees.I wish I could give 0/5 stars, instead of only 1/5.Their prices are ridiculous, too.Oh, and, Ive seen a lot more disgusting behaviour from their manager and employees, which I won't be submitting in this review.I recommend the Asian hardware store down on Shattuck near Ashby.Much nicer human beings there.(I only give negative reviews in extreme, recurring cases)

Good selection packed into a small space. Helpful staff. No it's not as huge as Pastime in El Cerrito. But it's slightly more convenient for me and 90% of the time has what I need. Sometimes I use the Ace website to check inventory and that always works. I wish it was in the old location with parking but, hey, times change. Still a good spot. Too bad the City of Berkeley screwed up Milvia to make it less convenient to get there and park from the North side of town.
