Update:
Changing my review because upon arrival we discovered a considerable amount of damage. I was more shocked at the fact one of the movers put a bottle of steak sauce in a random box with my $280 winter coat which is now covered in steak sauce (not sure who had the idea to put a breakable bottle with a coat). A coffee table, desk and multiple picture frames were broken beyond repair and a bunch of smaller items (like the dog food bowl stand) were also broken. Another major issue is the fact I explicitly asked the movers packing up to use the zipper ziplock bags and label screws/bolts etc, they did not use them and now we are missing a ton of hardware. It also appears that someone opened our stuff along the way as we discovered multiple smaller items that do not belong to us in one of our boxes.

Used for a military move, the crew was friendly and efficient, they took about 7 hours to pack our apartment completely. They did cause a bit of damage but they helped us with the paperwork to cover the scratches and chipped paint. Good communication and easy to schedule.

Absolutely impressed me! I had the privilege to work with Andrew and he was very professional, personable, efficient, accommodating, and super nice. I opted out of the unpacking just because I am moving again shortly but Andrew worked super quick! Delivery, Comfirmation, and paperwork was only about 30 minutes. All around, valuable work, nice people, and would hire them to move me again!

10/10!!!!! Andrew, Victor and Bob were the most professional and outstanding movers I've had a pleasure of employing. They are very responsive in communications as well as very personable. They also were very flexible. I kept changing my mind on adding new things that weren't planned prior and they had no issues with it. Their quality of work was like watching a work of art or a master Tetris player. I have lived in the Bay Area for over 20 years and this has been the best experience. I highly recommend this company and this team (if they accept requests). If I could give them a raise I 100% would, so Metropolitan please consider it. I definitely would recommend them to family, friends and you yourself as the yelp reader for whoever is interested!

i could not be more impressed with Metropolitan! From start to finish, they hit a home run! Art Murray was my contact person. He was so helpful and so full of good advice. It was so nice to have a point person!The day of the move, Juan and crew showed up on time. They were efficient, polite, respectful of each and every piece of furniture, and SO organized. not one piece was damaged in any way! The whole job came in under budget. Instead of gauging, they seemed to try to make an effort to save the customer money!Moving is NO fun, but if you must do it, Metropolitan is the way to go!

Had an in-state move with these guys as well as an out-of-state move and it was a HUGE relief. Moving can be daunting trying to figure out all of the logistics but luckily Metropolitan helped us with one of the most important parts. They stored our stuff until moving day and helped account for every item they packed. We weren't missing a single item after 5 months of storage and a cross country move. I used them twice and they gave outstanding service both times. Very professional. I highly recommend them.

I contracted with Atlas Moving & Storage/Metro Van to move my belongings from California to Florida. My items were in Atlas storage for 6 months, then transferred to Metro Van for 4 months until my home was built. Two months after I opened the majority of my boxes, I discovered a damaged piece of furniture and missing boxes. I had 180 days from delivery within which to file a claim for damage/loss. I chose to file the claim immediately rather than wait because I thought Metro Van would have an easier time locating my missing boxes. However, they were very quick to tell me my belongings could not be found and paid my claim. I truly believe that it was easier for them to pay a nuisance claim than to waste employee time searching for missing boxes which would have had to have been identified and cross checked against customers who filed claims as well. I complained several times and requested they check their storage facility again because I was convinced my belongings were somewhere in their warehouse -- misplaced when my items were moved from Atlas to Metro Van. By the end of September, all my newly ordered furniture had arrived and I was able to organize my pantry and closets, and put away the remainder of my items. However, I discovered additional missing items. I contacted the claims department and advised them of this and was told I could file a claim but it would no doubt be denied. My 180 days had not yet expired. The customer service rep then sent me an email instructing me to file a new claim under a new order number. A few days after filing that claim, she phoned saying my claim was denied because I did not report these items missing at the time of delivery. How I asked could I have opened each box upon delivery when I had over 275 boxes to open. She dismissed me and stated I could file an arbitration claim. Needless to say, I am very angry and am 200% convinced my belongings still remain somewhere in their warehouse. I have no idea what happens when missing boxes surface. It is doubtful they will waste employee time trying to match them totheir owners, especially since a claim has been processed and paid. Be careful especially if your items must remain in storage. Had I not needed storage, I believe all my items would have been delivered

This company really does deserve the 5 stars given. Were a military family whose stuff got caught in the port strikes so it took right at 6 months to receive our household goods. Every so often I would call metropolitan van and storage to see if there were any updates, even though there wasn't they were always very friendly and professional. As soon as our stuff was unloaded at the port they called me immediately to schedule delivery. We knew about it before our transportation office did. James who delivered the stuff also deserves 5 stars. He called me a few days before delivery to say he was on the way and told me when to expect the delivery. He was right on time and ready to go upon arrival. During delivery James did a good job protecting the floor and door frames to prevent damage, and had all of the necessary paperwork available to sign. Everything was very organized and moved smoothly! The biggest win is the only things broken we're some ceramic flowerpots, and dishes that were probably broken before they even left the coast of Korea, so I'm very pleased with how well our stuff was cared for during its time with metropolitan van and storage! Military families know that sometimes moving companies can be crappy, so if you're reading this as a military family rest assured that you were assigned a really good company. Thank you again to everyone that had a hand in getting our stuff to us!

Our move was scheduled to span two days. Barry was our estimator and made the assessment seamless and easy. Day 1: Drew and JoJo were our movers and did an extremely thorough and detailed job. Every item was wrapped individually and with multiple layers of paper and labeled accordingly. At the end of day 1, a few items remained to be packed on Day 2.Day 2: Two different movers arrived, which were RJ and Tom. Immediately, the service declined. Their attitudes were poor and they didn’t seem like they wanted to be there. They did not wrap or pack the remaining items and loaded them in the truck as is. Our dining room table and couch was not wrapped or protected but Drew the day prior wrapped and protected our other couch. RJ then put a hole in our wall with a less than 10 pound stand. Although he called maintenance, nobody was able to make the repair costing us our security deposit. Our washer and dryer arrived scratched and broken. We have broken dishes, broken storage containers, etc. The company was unapologetic & simply informed me what forms were available for a claim.When unloading, the boxes were partially off loaded by room and the remaining large boxes were left in the garage. The boxes were not offered to be unpacked although we were told the day prior the option would be available. Multiple times, RJ said “we’re not usually this sloppy” and continued to do a horrendous job. If booking with this company, I’d ensure RJ and Tom are not allowed anywhere near your belongings. The photos attached are only what we’ve noticed in the preliminary check of our stuff.

Andrew, Dustin, Jim, Jon, Neil, Tom, Patrick and so many more movers were incredible! They moved fast, efficient and respectful. I am happy to recommend Metro as a move company to anyone I know as they asked me questions, made sure I had everything I wanted moved the right way and I would happily move again just to have them help me.

From start to finish our local Atlas representatives--Metropolitan Van & Storage--made what was a stressful out-of-state move (to a home we purchased sight unseen) a much less stressful process. Our in-home consultation with Elizabeth was quick and efficient. The logistics coordination and communication with Elyssa was excellent, particularly when the closing on our house was delayed and our stuff was ready for delivery 2 days before we received the keys. She went above and beyond to figure out scenarios and a final solution that worked for us, another client, and our driver. Our driver, Brian, was personable and eased any concerns about the handling, transport, and delivery of our household goods. My only complaint is that I had an email issue with both Elizabeth and Elyssa where I consistently got error notices that my messages were delayed and then cancelled. Had to set up an online fax account to get around this which was a bit annoying, but only for the initial paperwork. Would definitely use Atlas for our next move and recommend them to others.
