This place is NEVER open according to posted hours. Just whenever owner feels like opening. Do not waste your time driving here to chance it, most likely won't be open. Today they happened to be open; I walked up to the counter ready to pay and the owner let me wait easily 5 minutes while he rang up his OWN transaction and didn't even acknowledge me or say can I have a moment..could not give my money to these type of people.

Basic neighborhood liquor store. Friendly family owned joint that carries a good variety of liquor. Carries basic groceries, snacks, and drinks. Would like to see the variety be increased. The bear mural is a nice painting.

Friendly staff, a great selection, and prices are just right. The store also has a bunch of hunting memorabilia, including guns, mounted animals, and a really cool mural on the outside wall. The store is staffed by family employees that are very nice just to talk to.

I only come here cuz I live out here but this liguor store is all bad in my eyes. There is no respect for their customer. The old man he just looks at you crazy. They need to learn how to deal with all people. I don't care how long you been in this community if you can't serve all people get out.

Ended up here after I heard they carried Schlitz and I needed to stock up for a 4th of July party. It's been a few years since my days of huffing paint in Bellflower garages; I forgot how ghetto this city is! But all of my mugging anxieties dissolved in the comforting presence of the huge bear mural on the store's exterior wall. I knew there was going to be something magical about Sportsman, and I was right. The walls are lined with trophy mounts, taxidermy, old muskets, vintage photos, etc. You almost forget you're in a liquor store specializing in cheap American beer for its seedy patrons. Onto the reason for coming here: the beer. I don't remember seeing a single import in here. There was all of your typical domestic brews and malt liquor. But I was looking for something very specific, and that was Schlitz. They have much of it, though it's only six packs of 16oz tall boys. I was more than excited to carry two packs into my car, but realized the spatial issue of storing that in my fridge when I got home. Anyway, the owner was an interesting older white woman. She was very friendly, talkative, etc. Had a teenager working the register for her. The two made an interesting pair. When I was loading my car with my beers, a crazy old leather daddy pulled up in his motorcycle and came back out with two cans of Colt 45. Overall a magical location to fulfill your needs for the beer that made Milwaukee famous.
