I had my transmission fixed here recently. I had an old shitty civic, one of the ones they kept mentioning was a "lemon"... apparently Honda made some duds in the early 2000s. My experience at the shop was great - everyone was friendly and helpful. A couple of people were really patient while explaining to me how the transmission works. I enjoyed bringing my car in to Gil's transmission and would highly recommend to anyone else!

My review is long overdue, but I wanted to wait a couple of months to see how my car would continue to thrive. I have a car that started having some problems. I know very little to nothing about cars. A friend of mine recommended going to Gil's after being let down by the previous place I took it to in the past. Since her dad has taken his two cars there, I thought why not. I was greeted by the owner Jose, who took the time to explain what was wrong with it. They are not the type of shop who sees a girl, clueless about cars and think to up-charge or do the job half-way, or add things to the list to make more money. The price was very reasonable compared to 3 other shops I had called. Jose explained exactly what needed to be done in a way that was easy to understand before moving ahead with anything. He informed me about what he recommended be done now and why it was important and what could still wait a few more months. He wasn't pushy. My car was ready 2 days earlier than anticipated. I'll be returning for sure for the other parts that eventually need to be replaced because I opted not to have everything fixed all at once. I highly recommend this place. I also asked if they do oil changes and the owner Jose said yes. So I'll be returning for that too once it's time. Thank you guys for making this a smooth experience.

My car was assessed by them, they said they would have to replace the transmission, I paid $900 and the transmission was not fixed. I took it back four times since every time they said they could try something different but in the endthey said they couldn't fix it. They at least gave me a partial refund, even though they say they guarantee services and a full refund if there are any issues.

The owner is not lenient or least understanding. I couldn't afford to do the repairs so I asked if I can leave my truck there until I can get it towed on Thursday. He told me 30 a day which I am okay with and then turned it into a hundred and kept asking me every 30 minutes for his pay,my tow truck driver if I paid him yet(I got the car junked so he kept asking for pay from him). He is very pushy and stubborn. You can keep your 100 since your that desperately need it.

DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME!! This shop listed an SUV on Craigslist. Said it had a clean title. The SUV had a check engine light when we checked it out, then asked us to wait a few days for a part to arrive. Said it was fixed and would pass smog, so came back to purchase it. They asked for a deposit because it wasn't ready yet when we got there (it was on a lift) and $600 extra in "DMV Fees" above the price that was listed on the original ad. They continued to yell at us over the phone saying they were a dealership and any car has fees and taxes. They failed to disclose anywhere on their ad that they were a dealer. If at any point during this transaction they had mentioned their hidden fees we would have turned away sooner.
