In 1985, this model of the building of this shoe store was memorable.
R&B/soul band Maze featuring Frankie Beverly shot their video for "Back in stride" where Frankie comes down the sidewalk and saw Converses in the window to add magic in the shoes then comes Maze to put on a pair of Converses and dance.According to his recent passing the shoe store still standing.
Rest in peace Frankie, the shoe store is back in stride again!!!

AWESOME!!! We were in Bakersfield for 1 night for a concert and my shoe broke the second we got to the hotel. I called this place, and he said he was super busy, but if I came in, he'd take a look. We get there, and they have shoes stacked to the ceiling they're working on, but he looks at my shoe and says, "Yeah, we can do this real quick." AND reinforced the buckle on the other shoe that wasn't broke! SOOO COOL. I think he charged me $10. And saved me all kinds of money and time driving around looking for a new pair of creepers. I can't say enough good things about BIG SHOE REPAIR.

Had a pair of red wing blacksmiths resoled with vibram soles, mid soles done as well. 85$ and really well done.
Would absolutely come back again.

The business owner can be blunt and rude and doesn’t want to hear you out with what you’re there for. Would not suggest coming here for someone who can’t listen out to the customer.

Had 3 total hip replacement 3 times due to arthritis...put a lift on a shoe for me. Tells me what shoe characteristics are best. I already know lift height and other aspects ( just needed the lift). Received my shoe quickly saved much $s. So grateful for lessening my limp.A friend went with me to have another pair of shoes done , and he asked if could make knife leather holder (belt style?) . Another customer at the Big Shoe.

I cannot recommend this business enough. I’ve been keeping a pair of casual calf-high zippered boots going for about 12 years of daily use. I brought them in for repair when my foot went through the sole last winter. I’m terribly hard on shoes and it’s hard to find truly comfortable boots, so I want to keep these in service as long as possible.This fella re-soled them and patched them beautifully for me. He was honest with me about their condition, and that it might not be worthwhile to resole them, and he showed me other issues that will likely arise with them.It took about a week (I was in no rush and told him so—he does a lot of rush orders and I don’t mind waiting) and I just took them back to have some stitching redone and the zippers replaced. When I told him that I want to keep wearing these until they fall off me feet, he laughed and promised to help me do that.His prices are great—I paid $85 for the resole and patching, and have an estimate of $85 for the zippers and stitching (and any other patches that might arise). Sure, I know you’re saying, “why didn’t you just buy another pair of boots?” And it’s because I. Love. These. Boots. Avoiding the waste of buying another pair is a great bonus, but these feel like they are part of my feet. Here’s to another 12 years, and 12 more after that!I’ll try to add photos when I get them back.

My husband took 3 pair of sandals about 1 month ago, if not more, they only needed to be widened, since they fit tight, since my feet get swolen in the summer. I've called more than 20 times since last week and this shoe repair place phone number is never active, the voicemail says it's full, and there is no space to leave a message and if you want to leave a code to leave it, obviously I don't have that code since I'm just a client. I will never recommend this place, the owner is very irresponsible, he hasn't even called me to let me know the status of the repair of my sandals, and his business phone just has a voicemail that says it's busy. This is a very Bad business and the Owner is very, very, Irresponsible, I wonder how my sandals will turn out to be. If you need your shoes repaired, I recommend that you Do Not choose this place.

i have been coming here for years to repair my shoes, no complains. the owner is friendly and wont fix a shoe if its not worth it.
