Pros: If you’re lucky, you’ll get a train with an actual cafe. The “new” trains have no cafe.
Cons:
1. Half the staff and conductors hate their jobs and are often rude and snippy.
2. Trains are often late (surprise).
3. When trains aren’t late, they like to leave early, stranding passengers. They said they go by “Train Time.” I prefer On Time.
4. The bathrooms…be sure to bring your own cleaning supplies.

Pretty good besides the heat and the long walk to the bathroom. It would have been a bit better if the bathroom stalls were a bit bigger to fit my luggage since I can't leave my luggage alone.

Depends on who you're riding with. Texas Eagle is pretty awesome but nothing to see but the flatland.

Friendly keeper of the keys and kept it open just for me on occasion I'm grateful for this train station I'm constantly using the transit for transportation imagine that .??for absolute certainty this is by far the nicest transit place I've been to and esp in Bakersfield. No places to eat near by and not a whole lot going on just buses and trains and parking the inside the RR closes at 8 if your train or bus leave after 8 your outside.!

My wife bought my ticket for las vegas, the lady at the counter made it very difficult for us. She was extremely rude and seemed to not acre of how she was treating us. After purchasing the ticket I decided to use the restroom, horrible choice. The bathroom stunk and had homeless people shaving and one sleep8ng in a stall. The security guard looked sleepy and way to old to even care, which made sense about the homeless people in the bathroom. The station is cold lonely and feels like domentors came in and gave it the death kiss. If you need to buy a ticket do it online but I suggest to wait in your care. Specially for woman.

Bakersfield is a different kind of place.... so big. I've been here now for 5 yrs. I get lost a lot it's much bigger than I ever thought. People in general are polite and helpful.

The person working in baggage claim at 8:30pm on 10/20/2023 is intoxicated while working. She told me my bag was lost then found it right in front of her 30 minutes later. Not a good experience.

A great way to get to LAX from Bakersfield is to take the Amtrak Thruway bus to LA Union Station, then pick up the LAX Flyaway bus ($9.75) in the Patsaouras bus plaza at Union Station. Due to a ticketing quirk, you have to buy an Amtrak ticket from Bakersfield to Fullerton (but just exit at Union Station). It's a fraction of the cost of an Uber (at least $120 -$150) but takes only a little longer.
