It's now a Hilton Vacation rental. Didn't stay there but went through their new vacation points system. Seemed like a decent deal if you use it. Pretty area to visit.

Wow! Beautiful views of ocean and beach. Spacious game room. Clean and well maintained pool, toddler pool, hot tub. There is a well equipped exercise room. Gorgeous outdoor sitting areas. All rooms have balconies for sitting and enjoying the view.

I stayed here with my friend for a weekend and it was the worst experience ever. For the prices that this hotel or "time-share" charges, it's not worth it. Front desk staff is rude and don't care about doing their jobs. The rooms are very old and outdated, with stains on walls and filthy carpeting. I was actually appalled when I saw my room. Plus my bed had used sheets from previous guests that the housekeeping staff didn't bother to change. Bathroom had previous guest hairs all over the sink and tub. Not only were the rooms a disappointment, the housekeeping staff was rude when asked for extra towels. My friend and I were uncomfortable passing through the lobby because we were approached and harassed by the concierge who tried to sell us a timeshare, when we refused, the concierge staff became very rude. The town Avila is alright, there is not much around and you pretty much need a car to get around to go shopping and find restaurants to eat. The only food option the hotel is vending machines, that barely worked during our visit. Oh, also the elevators at the hotel are old and very slow. And for the size of the hotel, the elevators are also pretty small so that is not convenient for the many guests that stay there or if someone has a lot of luggage with them. There is a small swimming pool and hot tub and gym at the hotel premise but we didn't utilize those facilities. I honestly would just find somewhere else to stay, especially at the prices that they charge.

The hotel sits on a little cliff, with views looking out into the ocean. Depending on the room you have you’re able to see ocean or the bay that connects with the ocean. The front desk is nicely decorated and the front desk clerks are very polite and welcoming. They do have a concierge that has some information about there area as well a the timeshare consultants that do try to set appointments up with you. Depending on where your room is, you may have a walk to it from the front desk because of the way the buildings are situated. It does have have elevators to get to the different floors, always import for those who cant climb. The room we stayed in was nice updated and clean. They are making more updates to the hotel from what I heard from a few of the regulars/time share owners I met at the resort. It is with in walking distance to Avila beach, restaurants and shops but remember it’s on a hill. The main town of San Luis Obispo is a short 10 min drive and has the University as well as some nice shops and restaurants. It’s a lively small town. We had a nice time and would love to return.

If you want a peaceful & cozy place to stay with awesome oceanfront views, this is the place for you! I could sit for hours in one of the provided rocking chairs looking at the ocean views or the dozens of monarch butterflies and hummingbirds buzzing around the gorgeous lantana flowerbeds. I had the perfect day sitting there and that memory will carry me through any rough days that I may have in the future!

Highly recommend. Wonderful views, friendly staff, beds were super comfy, location is fantastic to hang out in Avila, golf, wine taste, eat, visit beach. Family friendly but also good for couples. We very much enjoyed our stay there as we attended a Alta festival next door

Great location with a wonderful view of San Luis Bay. Rooms are very “tired” looking and desperately need updating. Furniture, carpeting, kitchen and bathrooms are old and dated. Complete room renovations would make this a much more enjoyable experience and bump it up to a legitimate 4 star resort. I’m giving this 4 stars for the 5 star location.

Beware the mattresses. You will find most mattresses need to be replaced. We've been here a few times mostly staying on the fifth floor. Everything was great except the mattresses tend to sag. Yoou can see it when you look at the bed. There are dips where two people would be sleeping. I think the place is due for a mattress upgrade.

Everything is clean and comfortable, it was a pleasure to stay here. A very nice location with gorgeous ocean view We loke the option to walk to to the ocean beach instead of driving and wondering where to park.

We have been coming here for 25 years. It seems the paint in the halls is always fresh. The grounds are well maintained. The fire pits are a nice touch also. Almost every room has a great view. We lobe this location.

The last time I stayed at the San Luis Bay Inn, the town of Avila Beach was shut down. This time the town was open and fun place to be within a short walk from the Inn. Room was a studio with a great view of the ocean. I didn't use the well-stocked kitchen other than to make coffee but everything appeared clean and operational. The gym is populated with near new equipment and I used it everyday and usually I was the only one there. The pool is on the smaller side and dated, but it did the job. Think I might make this a yearly escape from the heat.

This is an amazing place. You should definitely stay a few nights. We got an amazing room with a great view of the ocean. The room was connected to our kids room. Very spacey. Facilities are in great shape. A pleasure.

Average to Very Good Facilities very good rooms average but nice kitchen and good bedroom and bath Living room and sofa bed need upgrading as well as bath off living room in original section of resort.
