Honestly the customer service here is awesome! Alex is super sweet and very funny! He started our trip off right. The rooms are cute and small very clean and it's doggie friendly which is great! Cause our fur baby is our life! Thank you again for the wonderful stay!

You could not pay me enough money to stay here again. torn sheets, dirty walls, mold on nonfunctioning shower, no insulation, miserable bed, no hot water, loud af, extra charges for a non functioning bathroom - for real???! I could go on but this place blasted my trip. Destroyed it. I am still recovering 5 days later. I did not book it and I never would. This is 100% a youth hostel and if you are a youth, who is cool with whatever and on the cheap then go for it.

Staff were very friendly. The room was nice but a little dingy. Our tv and heater didn’t work and the front desk didn’t respond to a voicemail we left for them to fix it. The shower is small and awkward to use. Great location in the center of town though. Overall, you don’t get much for what you are paying.

If you’re looking for a place to stay at during your trip to Catalina look no further. Alex is a superstar and created the best and most personable experience ever! There were a few things we forgot but he was quickly able to help us obtain them and even went above and beyond to help us while the manager was unable to be contacted (their phone was off when we were trying to contact them even though it was the only provided number for when the front desk is closed). He happened to come by and assisted us even when he was off of work. He definitely deserves a promotion!

Worst room, worst service. Access cards didn’t work from 8:30 pm and there is no one at the front desk, or after hours contacts to help us activating access cards. Waited for more than an front desk and called emergency numbers and manager number at the hotel display.Paid double and stayed in a different hotel for the night.Rooms: Please don’t see this motel as an option , see an alternate option.

It's worth splurging on a nicer hotel especially since most places on Catalina Island close around 8 PM, so you will spend a good chunk of time in your hotel. This hotel was not worth the money. It's very old, dirty, and tiny. The ceiling fan was caked with dust, when turned on, it flung dust right onto our bed below. The bathroom is so tiny and humid. If you try to open a window to let fresh air in, your window is 5 inches away from another guests window. The bathrooms are disgusting, it's practically falling apart. The shower handles don't work, it'll fluctuate between boiling hot water and ice cold water while you shower. The bathroom sink is so short, with handles that are covered in mind. The bathroom floor always just feels dirty too? It felt like they didn't even clean the bathroom floors. Showers are dingy and yellow, covered with old dirt and sand on the floors. I was looking forward to staying here since some people recommended it but our room was not pleasant unfortunately. :(

Alex really helped me & everyone else I talk to was kind! Did you know that they have Jack and Jill rooms where you get to have your own room on either side and only share a bathroom? How awesome is that for a roommate situation or even maybe a family!

This is the worst hotel on Catalina island. If you stay here be prepared to have random people posing as staff members from the mental institution on the hill. I kid you not. My wife and I after leaving a wedding were having trouble with our key getting into our room. The time was around 10pm and there was no hotel staff behind the desk or in the hotel to our knowledge. A man claiming to be maintenance came from the back room and said he was going to call the police on us for trespassing. Mind you we kept showing him our key and he kept refusing to help us. This whole time our dog is locked in our room and we cannot get to him. This asshole is telling us we have to either wait until morning or he will call the police. My wife starts cussing him out and yelling at him to get someone to help us. I do not give a sh!t if you think that's wrong. I started yelling at this worthless human being telling him to get maintenance. After about 30 minutes of this asshole claiming to be hotel staff he just leaves and we finally get ahold of someone on the phone. The actual maintenance comes down (his name is Kevin) and informs us this person is a mental patient that "gets out" from time to time and comes to the hotel. He goes on to tell us that he has been banned on several occasions. He then says we would be receiving a FULL REFUND on our stay which was over $600. Did we ever get a refund from Kevin or David (hotel manager) no we did not. Did we ever hear back from our multiple calls to the hotel to get our refund? No absolutely not. This place is trash wrapped up in deceit and horrible customer service. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE.

It is a small hotel but very nice welcome staffs. Very good place to stay overnight at Avalon Catalina Island. Room is ready before time to check in and they let us check in before the time plus they also offered the beach chairs, lifesaver, beach towels, and sand playing shovels plus hot tea and coffee with free of charges all day long. I recommend this place if you are looking for a good place to stay over and good service.

I paid almost 300$ a night the two night I spent there was not fun at all! The cottages are very tinny, taking a shower it's like you are standing in the a bottle! You can't turn around or stretch your arms, very dirty, very old, I requested for the room clean up, they didn't change the bedsheets, they cleaned and pushed the dirt under the bed! Very disappointed in you guys!Noteworthy details: Poor service and expensive for nothing!

Not worth the price. We stayed in Ocean View#4. A lot of neglected maintenance! Pictures on line deceiving. Look elsewhere.

This place is a bit of a dump. The one staff member we saw was nice and tried to be helpful. There is no one around after sunset. Hermosa Hotel is an old hotel and it shows. I do not know what the other hotels go for but sharing a bathroom with complete strangers is uncomfortable at best and dangerous at worst. There is a sink in the room that is "private", but the toilet and shower are shared with the room next door, so there is constant locking and unlocking of doors. The sink in the room is awkward. There is a coffee station in the lobby. And a lobby bar, but we never saw anyone working there. Hermosa Hotel, on Catalina Island was built in 1896 by Hungarian immigrant, Benjamin Rosin (1860-1935). Originally operated by the Rosin family, the historic Hermosa Hotel is a part of Catalina History. It offers visitors a glimpse into the island's past and is one of the few hotels that survived the 1915 fire. They once used the slogan "I Survived the Hermosa Hotel". They also once sold on t-shirts advertising "Sleep Cheap Catalina." They should probably still sell these shirts.
