This hotel is a great place to stay with the family. They had a full kitchen in the suite I stayed in so it can help you save some money on breakfast lunch or dinner while staying on the island. The staff and owner are friendly and helpful. So grateful to have found this place!

I grew up on the island and was in town for the Avalon 50/50 race. My husband and I have multiple food requirements and were so excited to find a place with a kitchen as most of the restaurants in town were closed for winter or didn't have anything I could eat. This hotel is old, but the updates that have been made to it were great. We had no trouble checking in, getting a hold of anyone, or getting questioned answered. We didn't spend a ton of time in our hotel room as we were out exploring the town. But it was a great home base for our long weekend and meal times. My only real issue was the fridge was too cold, it froze everything that wasn't in the door. Over all the bed was fine, shower pressure was on point, and the kitchen pots and pans were in great shape.Nearby activities: It is literally a block away from the front street of Avalon.Walkability: It's up a steep hill but it has a sidewalk.

WARNING!! Do NOT stay in this old outdated and unclean hotel. All of Expedia and their website photos are old and NOT current. Conditions at this place are poorly maintained and unclean. Dirty old restrooms fixtures, toilets and shower. See pictures below for proof! Their lobby guest services is a red phone hanging outside front wall in order to try and get a hold of someone for guest services. Poor toothless guy named “Russ” is trying to do all the cleaning, housekeeping by himself throughout this hotel. This place is a Joke and don’t recommend it all. ??Rooms: Very old outdated and uncomfortable bedding, fixtures and appliances. Dirty place

Multiple issues with this place:- At the top of a very steep hill- Manager was weirdly rude and condescending in every interaction- Our first room had a broken air conditioner that drenched a bed with water- Our replacement room had a toilet that wouldn’t flush- Beds were lumpy and uneven

Overall, I would not recommend this hotel. While our room was clean, the room I booked two months in advance had two beds. The room that they checked us into only had one bed - the only one they had left. While they were able to provide us with two roll-aways, they were only able to offer us a 20% discount. Despite this being the hotel’s mistake, we had to ask for a discount to be applied. To me, having half our party sleep on a roll-away is granted more than a 20% discount - and their prices reflect that on the website! I would advise others to stay elsewhere.

I believe there is only one person that works here. I got a confirmation call three hours before I was supposed to check in. I told the person that confirmed my reservation what time I would be arriving from the boat. When my mother and I got off the boat we started looking for signs for our pick up. I called the hotel three times and no one answered. My mom and I got lost trying to get to the hotel lucky we asked nice people who gave us directions. When we checked in the guy was kind of rude and told me that I should have left a message because he was probably confirming other people, since no one answered the phone. That didn't sit well with me.As my mom and I kept leaving to do activities there was never a person at the booth. We had to pick up a red phone to call someone every time.As I was leaving at 9:57 since check out is 10:00. I picked up the red phone and told the guy I was ready to check out. He said put the key in the black box and then he hung up the phone. Also my mom did great walking up that big hill to get to the hotel. She's in her 60's and she kept up with me all weekend. When you look it up nothing told me that it was at the top of a hill. Since this was my first time at Catalina for my birthday.

I didn’t even stay at the hotel so I cannot speak to the cleanliness etc. however I did have to cancel and after agreeing to pay one nights stay, I was charged an additional $458. Expedia couldn’t reach them and neither could I over the course of three days. Meanwhile about $500 is accruing interest on my CC for reasons I haven’t been given. It’s seems others have a hard time reaching them.

I want to start off this review by giving a shoutout to the hotel staff; they were extremely friendly and accommodating. On the other hand, this place is way below the standards given what we paid for. Not only was the room incredibly run down, it was unhygienic. There were stains and hair on the sheets, pillows, and comforter. In addition to that there is mold under the sink. Needless to say I am extremely disappointed in the quality of the hotel. If it wasn't for the staff, I would of gave this place 0 stars.

On the upside: location is close to Casino end of town where the Avalon Ball took place. Sadly, I got room 119 which needs a full remodel and a full length mirror on the back of closet door -please! These are cheap at Target, for goodness sakes. The only mirror was in the bathroom, so nothing to see how your outfit looks. I could not use the shower - the ceramic was peeling off of the tub, so I was afraid to stand in it. Also, the bathroom sink's water faucet would not shut off completely (lots of water waste, which is especially bad in our drought prone CA state). In short: Room 119 is in a state of decline. I hope the owners of this place will spend some money on remodeling it soon. I did notice that another room was much nicer/updated. I do not know why the girl who checked me in selected an icky room for my stay. Oh well, staff was kind overall. Perhaps they have no say in how the owner maintains this property.... but when a room is like this, you should not be putting guests in it.
