The clerks and tellers are so good at their jobs and very calm and collected despite having to run interference on the faulty self checkout machines. But it is not appreciated when someone from the deli comes to your register to imply that my credit is bad when the machine stops working instead of waiting for the clerk to come and reset the machine. The experience has left a foul taste and given me a resentment against a particular employee or group of employees. Each department should do their own job and not worry about the others. the clerk easily rectified the situation but dealing with a oblivious deli worker made me want to cancel the whole trip

I just returned from spending my afternoon at Safeway in Auburn all to return a bag of flour, buy a bag of flour & pickup my wife's rx.
NO ONE was working at customer service & 2 different people paged for a rep. I was then directed to return it at the register!
At the register, I waited in line for 20 minutes because they had no help at the register. When it was my turn, the clerk didn't know what to do & wanted me to go to a different line so I told him to get me the manager. He decided it was better to ask another cashier how to deal with it and still he had trouble, another 5-10 minutes.
Then I got to wait in line for the pharmacy. Two people in front of me & another 20 minutes to be told, please wait, we have one more being worked on.
So:
* Long slow lines at registers
*Cashiers who don't know what they are doing
*No customer service
*No one to ask for help when you can't find something.
*In 5 years, I've not seen the same cashier at the pharmacy meaning the cashiers are usually inexperienced at the pharmacy.
Compare this to Walmart or Nugget where I shopped earlier in the day:
*Friendly cashiers at both stores who were ready when I was
*Employee at Nugget who walked through the store trying to help me find something
*Multiple employees in both stores asking me if I need anything
I'd rather pay more money than waste my time at this or any other Safeway store. I left the Safeway livid & frustrated at the total circus that they call a store.
I'm done with Safeway

Tried Safeway delivery which is new for my area. Great service - ordered on Friday and was offered same day delivery even though the store is bout 30.minutes drive away. Delivery charge was minimal. I chose next day morning and it was delivered on time.
Very few stores offer delivery to my town in the foothills - thank you Safeway!

I shop Safeway weekly have a very large family and spend about $450 to $500 every week but I'm letting you know Safeway that this review will be one or less if you continue to sell Tyson food products and we'll take my money elsewhere thank you for your great customer service

I waited 20 minutes in line at the customer service counter behind a single person, I only wanted to get a few stamps because it was late out. The employee talked with the person in front of me for the whole 20 minutes and once it was my turn she put the close sign on the counter fully knowing I was next in line. The worst thing of all they were just talking, the employee wasn't helping the person in front of me they only talked for 20 minutes. I tried to call the employee over several times only to see them avoid me and duck their head. Complete waste of my time, and I now know why my wife doesn't even bother coming here. Customer service sucks, and I hope that no one reading this will go there just to have their time unruly wasted.

Was extremely embarrassed checker kept saying to other checkers my food card didn't have money but it did and embarrassed me as she acted so put out turned out money was there for food so all that for nothing

Obviously, we all need food and price comes into factor when selecting where to buy our food. However, today's experience was actually laughable! There were a lot of employees today, most just standing around chatting. I went to the check-out line and the woman seemed annoyed because she had to get off her phone, but she did resume to finish her text message before obliging me. She packed one bag if groceries while I unloaded, but, I typically help pack to make things quicker. I am happy I did because she put my mushrooms at the bottom of a very heavy bag with a large bottle of creamer and other various heavy fruits and veggies. The checker was very happy because that allowed her to get back to her text conversation while she waited for me to finish and pay. The woman behind me even took a second glance. I just shrugged. As I was walking out I was paying attention to just how many employees were standing around doing nothing. I also noticed I was not the only one packing my groceries. One woman even asked a girl to move so she could get by to bag her items into a bag. This employee didn't even flinch. I made it all the way to my car and just laughed. I finally decided to return and locate a manager. I stood at the "customer service" counter for 5 minutes. 2 employees walked right by me and neither one asled if I needed anything. I give up.
