As I read the reviews for 2022, it is obvious that there was frustration last year. We also are a long-time clients with Steve an stayed with Jennifer after the transition. Social media is so damaging. Compassion is what should have been shared instead of more damaging statements. Was I affected by delay; yes. Do I have the back story on why it happened; some of it. You never know what people are going through. I never post to Yelp but this was important. And I just made my appointment with Jennifer. She is an excellent CPA for our complicated returns.

Good service for years. Now terrible since new owner. Promising my taxes for over 4 months now ("ready in two weeks", "should be next Thursday", etc. Still don't have them. They have not been at all truthful with me. Called a friend who uses them. Same problem.

So tax day was Monday. No communication even though I've been calling in the weeks leading up to Monday, and reassured that my taxes would be ready. Not the case. I go by on Tuesday, and find that the office is closed. I called and leave a message for Jennifer, it is Thursday now, my call has not been returned. I called them today, and learned that my taxes are not yet ready, and in fact they have filed an extension on my behalf. Again, this is with no communication, and without my permission to do so. I'm sure I'm not the only return they will lose for next year. Poor business model. It's my understanding they have commercial business ahead of the personal taxes, they are making their problems mine. I don't care if you're short staffed, you owe it to your loyal customers who have been repeat customers year after year to communicate. If you take on so much business that you can't service the existing clients, then it's time to reconsider your growth.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! This tax preparer did not get us our taxes on Tax Day to pay. We gave them our documents a month in advance. We called for status a week in advance of the 4/18 tax date and they said our taxes were "in review." We called incessantly on tax day, 4/18, and we were put off, told they were emailing our returns to us so we could pay that evening. We had no idea even how much we owed. They never sent the email that night and we are delinquent now. We called the next day and drove up to their office to at least get our documents on 4/19, and they were closed. We only found out today (4/20) how much we owe - approximately $10K in federal and state taxes. The file document the tax preparer gave us today says our taxes were prepared 3/30/2022. The only explanation from the preparer is that they were short staffed. This company let us down and have proven to be unreliable, uncommunicative and certainly not worth the money they charge for the pleasure of doing our taxes. Buyer beware!

I have used Phillips Starbuck for years. Jennifer is excellent, as are the various staff in the office, including Wyatt and Eva. They have been extremely helpful at answering questions and navigating through various tax-impacting life events and have always made handling my taxes as quick and painless as possible. They are extremely professional and responsive.
