Beware theses reviews are from Machado's not The Orchard. My review gave 5 stars to Machado's from a while ago but was transferred over to the Orchard.

Now we have been going to Machados for years, and recently during Thanksgiving we decided to give the new owner a try… 3 pies… because of the history of the old place… $32 each! Small pies… Costco almost twice the size and less than 1/2 the price… so very disappointed,,, crust not completely cooked, filling was not tasty enough… unfortunately we will not be returning… not for those prices, or taste…

FYI... The current business, The Orchard at Apple Lane, purchased the property that formerly was home to Machado Orchards in 2023. Reviews and pictures before that date were posted for Machado's by members of the public, not the current owners. I have posted some current pictures. The new owners have added seats outside and carry more items than just farm produce (picnic items and home goods). The did keep on the same person who made the pies and tamales.

All these reviews are from when it was Machados lol and they play it off like these are their reviews. The new owners are shady, rude, full of lies and have taken the business downhill. The quality that used to be there with Machados is long gone unfortunately. I’d advise to go elsewhere.

Had family visiting and stopped by to check out the new store. Bought 3 hand pies (peach, Marion berry and strawberry rhubarb). The hand pies were absolutely delicious!!! Can't wait to go back again!

Disappointing. Not worth a special trip just to go here. Stick with Ikeda’s if you’re on Hwy 80, otherwise make the trip to Apple Hill on Hwy 50 for a great selection of apples, baked goods, produce, and outstanding dining options. The Orchard was showcased on a Sacramento news and lifestyle television show, it did not live up to the hype.

This is a review for the new “The Orchard”. Prices are ridiculous, bought 2 pies, was $65. The apple pie had fungus gnats INSIDE the pie. Saw one on the pie when I opened the box, cut into it and gnats came flying out, and were crawling all over the inside of the pie.

The majority of these reviews are NOT FOR THE ORCHARD! They are for MACHADO'S! It's kind of shady that they just changed the name and kept the reviews. Shame on you!I visited The Orchard a couple months ago. Immediately what stood out was that there were no customers there. Machado's was usually bustling throughout the day, but they were completely empty when my family and I visited. Except for the three owners. I'd like to point out they didn't even greet us when we walked in, even though there were no other customers there. No, instead they were chatting amongst themselves about the best way to spread brand awareness. The other thing I noticed was the pies. They definitely aren't made in house. I was always a big fan of Machado's apricot pies, so I purchased a couple of The Orchard’s apricot hand pies. Yeah, big mistake. They were store-bought dried apricots encased in store-bought pie dough. Dry, bland, flavorless. And there were tons of them. I don't know where they make them, but it sure isn't at that location. Another thing I noticed was their produce. All of it was going bad. And when I say bad, I mean that the tomatoes were rotting and the corn was black. Yeah, no one is going to buy your rotting produce. The other thing I noticed is how many items they had for sale that had their logo and name in them, and how expensive they are. It's a shame, really. These women could have really done amazing things with this location. I am disappointed with what it's become, but honestly, I'm even more disappointed in the fact that they are essentially stealing reviews from Machado's and playing them off as their own.

The Orchard is cute, clean, nicely updated, and the store clerk was friendly. The Orchard was relatively empty compared to when it was Machado's, as there were not as many food products/produce available to purchase. I do like the added sitting area out front- it would be a nice space for small community events. Curious to see if more is added to this store over time.

Disappointed. Paid $85 to overnight a pie that according to UPS should arrive moldy and disgusting in a week. I'm so sad, but not as sad as my 3 year old who was looking forward to celebrating 'our family's birthday' (anniversary) with pie tonight. After having machado pies at our wedding, we have celebrated with one every year ever since, my heart is broken that it's not going to happen this year. If it’s not a service that is provided, I wish they would have said so upfront rather than trying a half hearted attempt. Will update with photos once the pie arrives. Pie arrived today, doesn’t it look delicious?

Stopped in and bought a hand pie and a Marionberry pie. My family and I all agree the pie was delicious! I love the new look and am excited to visit again.
