Don’t take your pets here. They’ll make you wait in line for 45 minutes, then once it’s your turn and your pup displays signs of being nervous because he’s surrounded by three strangers, they try to work with him for maybe 3 minutes, then tell you they can’t service your pet. Just go to a real vet with real professionals.

I took my tea cup yorkie for her fist visit, the guy was so impatient cause they put him on hold with our vet for vaccinations verification. I told him i wanted nails clipped and ears cleaned. He said there is a checklist they go thru so he would take care of it. Long story short our puppy got ear infections and nails were long. I took her back and payed for service again after i complained. I would take her back but NOT if he's doing the grooming.

the staff is usually really cool & try to make small talk with customers during check out. alondra with the pretty black & blue hair said i have "good energy" & gave me a paper about making popsicles. had a fun little chat with her & almost felt like i knew her. awesome customer service!

Very disappointed with Atwater Petco. I purchased bedding for our Guinea Pig on 12/26, when I also bought some pricey dog beds. Our Guinea Pig just passed away in the last week, so I took the unopened package of bedding to return it. They won't return it, even with a receipt, because it's over 30 days old, and sows I could 'donate' the bedding if I wanted. I'm sorry Petco, that I am an owner that likes to be prepared and purchased bedding when I was there (it's not like I purchased the bedding on sale), and that our furry family member died outside of your exchange policy, but I definitely think that's bad customer service. You should honor the receipt and refund.

The staff here are always very knowledgeable and friendly and I love how they pay so much attention to my little chicken nugget. They may not always know exactly what your pet needs because they are not necessarily experts but I do appreciate that when they don't know something that they ask someone who does. They do their best to maintain their customer base and I will definitely be returning to this location.

I've shopped with petco for a very long time. A few weeks ago we went in for a chameleon. (Which we ended up getting elsewhere) The lady working the reptile area wasn't very friendly/informative nor willing to sell a bearded dragon to a man and his 8 yr old son. She said a bearded dragon isn't a good first pet and tried to sell them on a tarantula! Or a frog! Tarantulas are not everyone's "cup of tea" you can clearly see the kid was terrified of the tarantula so why would she keep pushing it on them? And a frog makes a better pet for an 8 yr old than a bearded dragon would? So that family walks out with nothing. She approaches us and asked if we're wanting help. My husband points to the chameleon he wants and right away she says no I can't sell you that until you tell me what setup you have prepared for it. He tells her what he has ready at home and she says do you have a picture of it? He says no and she says well I'm sorry then. He then goes and picks up a tank, lights, decorations, bowls, a mister etc she says that the tank he has is crap and she doesn't know why petco sells them. He asked which one would you recommend? She points out a tank with a desert setup! She tells us that she setup a tank for her friend/former coworker and how it cost almost 900 dollars and if we can show her a proper setup she'd be glad to sell us the chameleon. So we also left empty handed. Well today I wanted to get my dog some stuff for his birthday so I decided to give this petco another chance. I got my dog his toys and went to the reptile area. I just got another front opening tank with a screen top and told my husband I'd like another green tree frog, he went to get help and It was the same girl and when he told her what we wanted she says what do you know about frogs? What type of set up do you have? But she was coming off as extremely condescending and rude about it. I totally get wanting to make sure an animal gets a good home but she's very rude and goes about it completely wrong! I've been a reptile keeper for 22 years! As well as professional experience with animals while working for a local humane society. If she knows so much about animals maybe she shouldn't be wearing perfume or lotion? Maybe her Starbucks shouldn't be on the cart that she's using that has the animals bedding and food on it? She needs better training on not only animal care but customer service as well. She's the type of person the reptile community talks about, the "know it all" but actually doesn't know about reptiles. The girl who cashed us out was super nice and asked if we needed info on the frogs care, we said no and thank you for offering the information.

this petco should do more research on roborovski hamsters.. i tried to buy my robo hamster a companion (they are best kept in pairs or groups since they are a very sociable breed and they thrive in groups of 2 or 3) but they refused to sell one to me.. i commend their wanting to protect hamsters as i know that most hamsters don't do well together at all.. this breed, however, does best with companionship.. i've done lots of research and read several articles including studies they've done on this breed.. again i'm glad that they want whats best for their hamsters, but not all hamsters are the same, just as not all dogs, cats, people are the same.. each breed has different characteristics from other breeds.. they have three in the cage together at this store so even they contradict themselves with that and when i asked them abt it they didn't really have an answer.. idk just a suggestion for future reference and a recommendation to any future hamster parents to do your own research before you buy..

We had a misunderstanding about a grooming appointment time. The woman I spoke to was very rude and condescending. I had received no e-mails, no text messages, abd confirmed the appointment on the phone with another groomer. Even after I started watching away she was making nasty comments. I probably dodged a bullet, I don't want someone that bitchy touching my dogs and you shouldn't either.

Always amazing! All the staff is super helpful and even my nervous pups feel comfortable instantly! I live in Merced but drive down regularly to stock up on treats(specifically anything whole hearted brand as even my picky animals go crazy for it)

Definitely the place to go for aquariums they have rare fish that PetSmart doesn't have and glad that I don't have to go to Merced if I need something

Very upset with Petco today brought my daughters to buy a Dorf hamster but because there was more than two people with me because I have three children they refuse to let us enter and said that they were only allowed two people per party since when do our minor minor children mining you a nine-year-old seven-year-old and 10-month-old count that is unfair to us parents my kids were excited to buy the very first hamster with their tooth fairy/hard-working allowance money to be told they were not allowed to enter shame on you Petco

Went in tonight around 5 to try and purchase a dog house walked the entire store to try to find one myself. Since I didn't see any I walked to the front and saw a girl in a green shirt with brown hair in a bun I said excuse me because I needed some help and she did not turn around. I walked closer and said excuse me again and she turned around and looked like I was inconveniencing her. I asked if they had any houses she said no I saw a house near the front and asked if that one had been sold and she said yes her answers were very short and she did not bother to try and help. I then asked if she can see if the Petco in Turlock had any in stock she then stared at me and said "I could but it's going to take really long". Super rude and unprofessional she is getting paid to help customers not treat them like crap. Again it was not busy nor packed with guest she seemed like she didn't want to be there so Petco you need to find employees that want to work and lose the ones that are totally inconvenienced with questions customers have. Didn't get her name since she had no name tag but I highly advise you talk to your closing staff because they need some improvement on customer service.

This has to be the worst Service I've ever experienced!!!!!EXCEPT FOR SUZANNE !!! She was very helpful patient and kind. The other girl on the other hand .... was the complete opposite. She had dark curly hair she didn't have a name tag so I'm not sure of her name. I went to go buy an aqueon 55g fish tank kit and the stand. We drove an hour to pick it up and they didn't not have the stand even though it says it's available in store. I saw the reviews that this place had and I was kinda scared but went in with an open mind about the place. But I was wrong !!!! We got the tank it was a HUGE BOX it did not fit in the little carts they had. We saw a bigger cart in the store that was big enough to carry the huge box. We proceed to ask the girl with curly hair if we could get some fish and she said "I can't sell you any fish because you don't have your tank set up". I was confused and told her even if I have a tank at home ? She said nothing rolled her eyes at me and told me well which ones do you want. I couldn't believe how rude she was. We proceed to go check out we're Suzanne was. She being really helpful and gave us tips on how to transfer and get my new tank up! Once we paid the girl with the curly hair told us we can't use that cart. But like the cart was in the store and if she sees how big the tank is and it is clear that it would not fit in the smaller carts. How are we supposed to carry it throughout the store and to the car. She WAS VERY RUDE AND UNPROFESSIONAL. We did not do anything to make her mad and ever since we walked in she was very rude. Please please please ask Suzanne to help you like I said she was very kind and professional!
