“I didn't want to go to Merced, I didn't plan on going to Merced, but when a family emergency came up and I had to go, El Capitan hotel staff made it as pleasant experience as possible for me. The tv service was atrocious, taking 30-60 seconds to perform the action you asked it to. The clothes steamer in the room didn't work (usually not a big deal and I wouldn't normally notice but I had to dress nicely for a few days). The rooms were standard, adorned with a cute old-fashioned phone that is functional, and an old suitcase record player that (kinda) works. The staff does go above and beyond to make your stay as comfortable as possible. A café on one side that makes delicious expresso and a fancy diner-like restaurant on the other makes your hunger needs never far away.”

“A lovely place to stay if you want to stay local to Livingston. Wonderful staff, Stephanie and Melissa were both very helpful and friendly. We were here five nights right after it switched to a best western facility and it was a great experience. The rooms were clean and they accommodated our Housekeeping and towel refresh requests promptly. Next time we're in the area, we will stay here again!”
“Everything is great except the loud traffic noise on the West side of the building. I’m a heavy sleeper and I was still woken up several times by the large trucks and other loud exhaust vehicles driving by. Very frustrating but next time I’ll have to ask for a room on the other side of the building.”

“I do a fair amount of traveling, and when I check out I try to make sure my room isn't a nightmare for housekeeping. Usually, I just need a bed to sleep in and a shower and maybe breakfast if it's available, then I'm out the door.This specific Day's Inn is literally the only hotel that has ever given me my deposit back without haggling.I usually assume the 50$ deposit that's never listed on any booking sites is just part of the cost and I assume they're just going to keep it no matter what condition the room is in.They actually refunded it though without me having to say anything and I must say I'm impressed! Making this hotel my cheapest stay on my cross-country vacation.The rooms were also very nice and modern for a motel. I was very comfortable.”
