My dog is now 17, and pretty healthy, but I switched to ECV last year when I was concerned about his teeth. Dr. Robinson was very gentle with him and after senior blood work got him in asap for a cleaning and 2 extractions. He did very well ( even at 16 yrs old!) with the anesthesia and I could tell he felt better too. Just recently he had an exam with Dr Schmidt (another fantastic vet!) and she's helping him with some arthritis and anxiety. He's very deaf and losing his sight slowly, but this office is keeping him in the best shape possible and he's still running around like a puppy. In between naps! The front and back office personnel are always helpful and informative, I highly recommend this office.

If I was to sum up this visit in one word, I'd say "disappointing." My husband and I recently moved to Atascadero, and we need to establish a good working relationship with an avian veterinarian for our three parrots. One of our birds has a condition that requires regular beak trims, so we scheduled an appointment, after hearing this clinic's avian vet works for the zoo. We thought we'd struck gold, finding an avian vet with such good experience. We were told that a beak trim would be about $20. On the day of our appointment, we brought our bird to the office, and got the needed trim, and were told the visit was going to be $80! The difference in price? Since we were new, the bird needed a $60 "exam," despite having a well bird exam with our previous vet just two months ago. When we questioned the additional $60 at checkout, the receptionist explained that we needed to pay the exam fee because our bird was a new patient. We were also told that there would be a $60 charge each time the bird was groomed because we want to be present during grooming. The supposed "exam" itself was completely lacking. It consisted of the vet grabbing our bird, wrapping him in a towel, cutting his nails until they bled, rather than filing them, and using a dremmel tool on his beak. From our point of view, there was no exam, because the doctor didn't do any of the things our previous vet would do, like listening to the bird's breathing or heart, getting a weight, etc. We felt uncomfortable because the doctor wanted to do the beak trim in the back, out of our sight. We didn't like the idea, especially since the doctor was very perfunctory in the way that he dealt with our companion. Our previous veterinarian in Santa Barbara was much more affordable and has a much better bedside manner. She regularly engaged with our birds as individuals, and treated them like the sentient beings they are, not as feathered objects. I'm sure the veterinarian is competent, as he works for the local zoo, but his bedside manner could use some substantial adjustment, and his pricing isn't workable for a multi-bird household.

I just called to make an appointment for My dog that suffers with allergies, we have been to this location before and we had an amazing experience the first time, the main reason i wanted to take him back. I called today to get him in with major allergies going on at this time and Adriana was extremely rude the entire conversation and said because I haven't been there in two years she can't get me in for three weeks!!! Sharing with her he has major hot spots and is extremely uncomfortable!! Wow this is the first ! I will not recommend taking your pet to this location.

Family just moved into the area, and we needed one of our dogs checked out for itches and a possible ear infection. The amazing staff squeezed us in within a day without fuss. Everyone was friendly and helpful, including Dr. Ramos who was gentle and kind with our pooch. Prices were all very reasonable and we look forward to bringing all our dogs here in the future!

It’s a great facility I appreciate it more than the other vet facility that’s on the other end of town on El Camino. The only negative that I can say is that The staff in the front are not very courteous with your time. the first time I went in there we showed up exactly on time for our schedule appointment and I guess that wasn’t good enough or early enough for some reason because they made us wait an hour before we were helped, while we watched other people come and go to their appointments that were scheduled after ours. It was just such an extensive amount of time that’s what was really rude about it. it shouldn’t have been an hour wait. But it was more than 60 minutes for sure snd it was very irritating.

After a run in with a broken 40 oz. Beer bottle to the foot. I was recommended this place by a great friend and colleague. I received nothing but great service at a great price. They changed his dressing twice, multiple staples to his foot, and of course staple removal. A Dog's VIP treatment. Thank you

I absolutely love this vet clinic. I have recently moved to the area and was looking for a vet to take my pets too. Mind you I have 8 dogs, therefore I would be a frequent client. I called a couple vets in the area and was told they were not taking new pets or had about a month waiting list. I call el Camino vet and they got an appointment the following week. My cat got a UTI before my scheduled appointment so I called and spoke with Henry, he was able to get me in that same day! I was able to drop my cat off that same morning and still go to work. I am so happy I found this vet clinic.

Had a very frustrating experience today. I have a naturally aggressive dog when it comes to the vet so I did the responsible thing and got some prescriptions to settle her prior to getting her nails trim. Mind you I got these from the same location before I took her in a second time. I gave her the meds 2 hours before a nail trim but it didn't seem to be strong enough to make her calm. I called the vet to tell them she seemed hyper still and that I would need a mussel once I got there to make sure everyone felt safe. Once I got there they did not provide a mussel and ensured us they would do it with there team in the back. I tried to restate that she had been aggressive with a prior vet and that it was for both them and my dogs safety that they mussel her before she went in. Again they did not listen to me. The person who got her seemed surprised when I told her we'd given her the meds because she was still barking. Sure enough she got bit all because she didn't take the valuable information I had for her prior to the appointment. This all could have been avoided if they had listened to the owner. Now my dog has another bad experience to make her hate the vet even more. For sure not going back to people who can't listen to simple instructions and communicate between staff.

I took my puppy, a tea cup Yorkie to at El Camino Veterinary for a serious injury, I had been walking and I tripped and accidentally fell on my little fur baby , my 4 lb puppy, and wasn't sure if I had broken many of her bones her rib cage or leg I wasn't sure? I knew for a fact her leg was hurting her , I knew this much for sure .... I was very sad and in a Panicked and scared state of mind all I could think of was to rush her for immediate care, that she required immediately. I rushed her to (El Camino Real Veterinarian ) I spoke to the tech and was told to come back the following day , no one had given me any other information about medications or anything else to do .... I sat in the parking lot for about 20 minutes, I had to call them for information about medicinal and pain relief for my fur baby that's why I decided to leave ........ so I rushed her to a local 24 hr emergency for immediate medical attention . Such as X-rays and pain medicine. After her 4 broken toes healed , months later, I had called El Camino Veterinary for her regular treatment for spayed and a flu shot ,I was told that "myself and my puppy were red flagged" from going to her regular Vet... I was yet again baffled? . The mentality and heart of many people today is beyond me ..... We all need to pray more for one another if Gods little creation doesn't matter , what's next? I then explained " I have Never met a Veterinarian hospital to deny services to a Little animal in my life " their callous behavior toward a little life and the unpleasant , childish unprofessional behavior towards a person and loved one was not a very pleasant life experience.

I called about getting the canine influenza shots and the staff told me the total charge would be $45 for each shot. The first time I went they charged me $95 and was told that it was an examination fee but that was never discussed so I asked Jolie who assisted me and she said she would have the doctor call me. I never received a call. Before my second appointment I called to ask the price and was again told I would be charged $45 I asked about the exam fee and THEN I was told about a $50 fee. I canceled my appointment and will get my dog the booster elsewhere. This place is a scam!

What a difference an excellent office manager can make! I spoke with Nikki regarding a concern I had. She immediately took care of everything, with a great attitude and very professional but also very friendly. Thank you Nikki! It's rare to find someone who listens and follows up immediately. I truly appreciate your help.

I feel so fortunate that I was referred to ECVH for my greyhound's vet services. The entire team there is responsive, caring, friendly to work with and willing to go out of their way to ensure the most successful outcome. Even with the personal engagement and various procedures & treatments provided, the expense for the care has been surprisingly reasonable and well worth it! I live in SLO and have access to several vets closer to home, but I do not hesitate to go a little farther from home for the quality of care and experience I receive at ECVH. When my greyhound had a suspicious growth on his leg, Dr. Leton responded quickly being concerned that it might be cancerous. Dr. Lauren Robinson conducted a surgical consult and followed up with surgery to remove the tumor, all within just a few days. The surgery went well, however the healing process was tricky and prolonged. Dr. Lauren and the staff patiently worked with us each week over 2.5 months. She was creative and persistent in her efforts to promote his healing and I was grateful for her willingness to try various approaches, including new techniques with him, which ended up being very successful. Dr. Lauren, Matt and Andrew treated Kermit like part of their pack throughout this extended process! I feel like have have a trusted resource in ECVH for my greyhound's health and well-being.
