I visited this shop last Saturday, April 27th for the first time and they are very cunning and unethical sales people. They wrote a hand written recipe for me for 2 items which was in total $55, but when they charged my card for $60. I did not think that these looks alike nice ladies that are such thieves. I will inform everyone that I know in the Indian society not to buy stuff from this store. I am so disappointed that women do these type of stuff. My name is Bernadette

If there was a way to score a zero I would. While the staff was friendly and attentive, they turned an already stressful situation into a disaster. My daughter and daughter-in-law are going to be part of my oldest son's wedding. They are having a Middle Eastern attire wedding in New York. The bride provided the outfits for my daughter and daughter-in-law and when the outfits arrived by mail, we realize that the shirt portion needed to be constructed. This became stressful because I am not part of the culture directly, so I didn't know who to go to. I called Sona Chaandi and they assured me they could piece together the shirt. Upon arrival to the location, we showed the seamstress and the sales lady the materials that we were given for the outfit and again they assured us that this task could be completed in the 2 1/2 week timeframe we gave them. We paid $400 and left the shop hopeful that we would be ready for the wedding in 2 1/2 weeks. I was surprised a week later when I received a phone call saying that the outfits were both ready. When we arrived to the shop, they pulled out my daughter's outfit and had her try on. At first look it seemed like everything was OK but once my daughter tried to put it on, we realized that the zipper improperly sown and only opened half way. When I brought it to the sales ladies attention. She said that it should still be able to fit over her head and did not need to be adjusted. My daughter was able to try it on and we realized that the shirt was very loose, but we took it home with us because we weren't sure that we would have enough time to fix all the mistake. A few days later my daughter and I tried pinning the shirt to make it fit a little more snug, but when I flipped the shirt inside out I found that the whole shirt was made so unprofessional. Everything was crooked. The seams were not straight at all. It was a disaster. I was disheartened when I only had a couple days and I couldn't return the outfit for the to fix it. In all honesty I wouldn't have trusted them with it at all. At the end of the day, I had my mom fix it as best as she could and I should've just paid her from the beginning. She did an exceptionally better job in one hour than these people did in a week and a half. I do not recommend this shop at all. I feel like they promised us a professional job and gave us something done by a 6 year old seamstress. Don't waste your money, go somewhere else. This place totally ripped us off. I attached photos for reference.

One of the worst shopping experiences of my life. I have never felt so pressured to buy ugly, old, smelly, dirty clothes. I regret walking in here because I let them pressure me into buying outfits I wasn't 100% happy with. I was on the fence about a lehenga I tried on because it was decent enough for me to think about buying but the strap was literally falling off and it looked used. They had to sew it back on to convince me to buy it and before I could walk out, the lady said, "just give me your card. just give me your card. just give me your card. just give me your card. just give me your card. I'm going to pack it for you." She kept pressuring me and at one point I said, "you're pressuring me!" They really wanted to sell the lehenga and gave me a discounted price, but I still was indecisive about it. But she continued pressing and being pushy to the point I just gave in. I was tired of shopping and tired of being pressured. It felt like mental warfare. I was so angry I gave in to the pressure. Being nice does not help you here at all. For a week, I was angry thinking about what happened in the store and wanted to return it as soon as I had the chance. Their website clearly states that returns are valid for 30 days but apparently it's not updated because their receipts say "no returns/exchanges" at the bottom. OHHH. Well, if I was never pressured like I was maybe I would have never wanted to return it so badly. Maybe if I didn't feel ripped off or forced into doing something I didn't want to do in the first place, then maybe I would be happy with something else. Please be realistic with prices. At this point, they "graciously" agree on an exchange which I immediately dread because everything was old-dated, DUSTY and dirty. I settled on this pink outfit (see attached) and I thought, no way it can be more than $180. WRONG. She said it was $300 but they would give me another "discounted" price if I paid the difference of $70 including alterations. At this point, I'm just shocked and traumatized. What is going on here? They're trying to sell me an oversized muu muu for $250???? And guess what. I was so tired of being pressured again that I did. I just wanted to get out of that store. I never wanted to go back in that smelly place again, but unfortunately I did! In less than 20 mins, I went back to the store more angry than before because I realized they robbed me!! $250 for a casual outfit they convinced me could be worn at a wedding. I showed it to an Indian friend and said it was for $250 and they literally said, "you were robbed. You're going to look like you're going to the grocery store, not a wedding party." My heart sank. I wasted all this time and money to look like a bum at the first and probably only Indian wedding I'll ever go to. I should have just kept the original outfit that I was pressured into buying. These people are totally taking advantage of people who don't know Indian culture, and what a shame they don't educate people on what's appropriate to wear to a wedding. They lied to me that I could wear this outfit and almost embarrassed me. And all for money. Do they not have any shame???? Disgusting. They tried really hard to make me a happy customer by constantly reminding me they "never do exchanges but will for me" but honestly, the only thing that was going to make me happy was getting my money back, which they were never going to do because they're scammers who like to rob people and sell ugly overpriced clothes to people like me who don't know any better. Oh and of course they're talking shit about you, in front of you in their language. But what's to be expected from people with cheap character. I rightfully exchanged this outfit for a new lehenga (without alterations because there was no way in hell I was going to do more business with them). After walking only a few steps, I quickly found a better more modern looking store with affordable

terrible service, pushy, rude, do not respect your preferences or needs. argumentative. was looking for a kurta churidar, the pants they gave with it were like scrub pants, and very cheaply made, they refused to switch the pants and argued a lot. They also refused to let me use the restroom while we were shopping for an hour. The prices are ridiculous. No stickers on anything, they tell you whatever price they feel like, at first they said they would negotiate but then the manager said they will not. many of the clothes were damaged and had stains. they only carry one or two sizes in each item, difficult to find sizes. mens inventory is very limited. store was completely empty and I understand why. For the size of the store, they really dont have too much inventory and they are very rude and lazy, they do not want to help at all. They dont want to show you clothing that is kept behind the glass cases.

I have been coming to Sona Chaandi for the last twelve years and have recommended this boutique to countless friends. The quality and unique selection of procts & merchandise, the service and time that their staff provides is truly remarkable . They constantly update their inventory following the ongoing international fashion trend. I applaud the owner and staff for their professional management of Sona Chaandi for over forty-five years as a fashion trend setter and leadership.

this is the only threading place where you have to "pay first??!!" what if the service was terrible?! it is ***not*** $5.99, it is $10.00. the woman that did my brows was not thorough like other places. she was too quick. she did not ask if i wanted aloe vera. i 100% regret coming here today. they charge $10.00 but cant keep the air conditioner or even a fan on. the only time fan may be used is for the woman's benefit and not the customers. this place is a joke!!!!!

I had the worst experience ever. I dropped off my blouse for alterations. She messed up the whole blouse I had to get it fixed. Owner had this attitude when I was telling her what needs to be done with it. I just wanted the length repaired but she didn’t follow the measurements I gave her. Never going back there.

This review is long overdue. I’ve been going here for years. However, the quality of customer service has severely declined. First of all, no one is ever in the lobby to greet you. I’ve had to call the store myself (multiple times) while I’m waiting to let them know someone is in the lobby. Then they basically steal your money. Threading is advertised as $5.99 on the window. If you hand them a $10 bill, guaranteed you will not get any change back and they say “thank you” automatically assuming you’re giving them all your change. They do this EVERY time. Sneaky way to keep and take your money. The last time I was there an unknown woman came around the back, looked surprised and told me I need to go in through the back way next time. What a joke. Don’t go here if you want to be treated rudely and your money taken from you. There are plenty of other places in the area that would appreciate your business.

I usually get my eyebrows done with the professional lady who is amazing ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. Today I drove 45mins each way to come up here as I have an event this evening. But this time the lady that greeted me said Pammi ji was busy and did it herself. She Totally messed up my eyebrows. And no apologies or regret SadlyThe left is jagged and both are now too thin. Soo wrong. I had to fix it myself Have to wait several weeks to go to someone who will do it right.
