Every dish here is delicious. We had fried anchovies, chicken tandoori, goat biryani, goat pepper curry - best curry i ever had, malabar parotta (bread) - best dipping in the curry & an unusual drink-Nannari Sarbath (drink). Worth the visit. I would come back here again to try to other dishes. The restaurant had lots of parking, great atmosphere and excellent service. Thank you guys. We loved the experience.

Ordered Bendi fry for carryout. It was not properly cooked, very hard to eat. Trashed the curry. When I called to express my concern, I was told that I would receive a call from management. But nobody bothered to call back. Very bad customer service!

I recently dined at Anjappar in Long Beach, CA, and my overall experience was quite enjoyable, deserving a strong 4-star rating. The culinary journey began with Chicken 65 and Nethili Fry. Both dishes were outstanding, with the Chicken 65 offering a perfect blend of spices and a delightful crunch. The Nethili Fry was equally impressive, cooked to perfection and flavored just right to accentuate the fish without overpowering it.The soup we ordered was another highlight. It was rich in flavor, with a depth that indicated quality ingredients and a skilled hand in the kitchen. It was a comforting start and set high expectations for the rest of the meal.We also tried two types of biryani. The mutton biryani, was a flavor-packed dish, with the rice perfectly cooked and the spices masterfully balanced, providing a genuine taste of South Indian cuisine. The quantity was generous, making it a satisfying choice. However, the plain biryani was a bit of a letdown. It reminded me more of a tomato rice rather than a traditional biryani. While it was certainly edible, it lacked the complexity and layers of flavor one would expect from a biryani. This dish didn’t quite live up to the high standards set by the other items we ordered.Despite this minor disappointment, the overall quality of the food was high, and the portions were more than satisfactory. The service was efficient and the staff was courteous, adding to the pleasant dining experience. In summary, Anjappar in Long Beach offers a delightful taste of authentic South Indian cuisine, with most dishes hitting the mark in terms of flavor and quality. The slight miss on the plain biryani is the only reason I’m holding back that one star. I would still recommend this restaurant to anyone craving genuine South Indian flavors and look forward to my next visit, perhaps exploring other dishes on their extensive menu.

We stopped here on our way to San Diego from LA for lunch. The food was good. I ordered ravva dosa, it was delicious, my husband and kids loved their chicken 65, goat soup and chicken paratha. The only disappointment is Falooda, I wouldn't suggest falooda to anyone. It doesn't have basil seeds or nuts in it.. other than falooda, all other items we ordered are fantastic. Thank you for giving us good Indian food on our road trip. Staff is very friendly and supportive.. this restaurant deserves more stars.

Stay away! It’s Anjappar in name only. The food is more of Andhra cuisine. This is not surprising as everyone that works there are from Andhra. It’s ok for cooks and servers to be from Andhra (or any place in the world) as long as they follow the Anjappar way of making food. They instead fell back to Andhra style cooking. The result is nothing like Chettinad food. Further, the service is plain awful. For instance, after handling used plates of other people, they deliver spoons and forks without washing in between. Just disappointing.
