I have one day off each week. I went to Wells Fargo Arcata that day, only to be told I'd need to make an appointment to open an account. I was crestfallen and so the clerk told me I could just open an account online. So I tried that, but the bot informed me there was a problem verifying my identity and I'd have to go in. I dutifully made an appointment online, but b/c of my schedule it was two weeks away. Then I got an email from WF informing me about the types of ID I'd need to bring. The normal picture ID of course, and then this: "Secondary forms of identification must be issued by a recognized business, education institution, or government agency. It must also be signed, include a photograph, and match the name on your primary form of identification." Huh? Like a work/school/government badge as well as my ID? Or a letter? But what kind of letter has a picture? Not wanting to waste even more of my time I decided to call the Arcata branch to get some clarification. After ten (!) phone calls in which the phone was never answered I wound up talking to the 1-800 people. They also tried to call the Arcata branch with no success. They also couldn't decipher the email instructions. Currently feeling like WF doesn't want my business. Thinking I'll cancel my appointment and go with an online bank or a local credit union, where I'm treated like an actual valued customer. I expect BS from a corporate behemoth but the small town atmosphere of Arcata should have counteracted that. Disappointed.

This is my least favorite branch I've ever been to & completely stopped going in this branch. Whoever the hiring manager is obviously has an agenda. Eureka is good along with most branches. Arcata has bias customer service, unless you like fake nice. They're incredibly racially bias & only hire a certain demographic. I have a substantial balance, an account since 2003 & a business owner (I only use for personal & would never use WFargo for a business account). After losing my debit card, I had to get a new one. Your debit limits reset to the basic minimum when you get a new card number so, I went inside the bank to get the limits raised to what I had and they wouldn't. The girl told me, "let's look at your balance", & the look on her face when she saw my balance was priceless... she invented some frivolous racially motivated excuse to not put my debit limits to what my account was suppose to have so, I immediately called 1800wells fargo directly & they immediately raised my card withdrawal & debit card spending limits Via telephone. Another time, a teller told me she wouldn't cash a major insurance companies check because it would bounce. I had more than enough to cover plus, it didn't bounce & I have zero bad checks with my account. They seem to have good customer service with Hispanic, White & Asian customers... everyone else avoid going inside for transactions or go to any other branch. ATM drive through glitches often, at times doesn't accept deposits & never accepts claimed stacks. Walk up ATM's function better.

Needed some cash for shopping in downtown Arcata, CA. Stopped in here for a quick ATM visit. Got my cash, but the out-of-network charge for using their ATM is overly steep at $3.00 per cash transaction. #WellsFargoBank

So Wells Fargo has had some bad press lately, And obviously they are big, non-locally-based company. But I just have to give a big shout out to SHANNON at the ARCATA branch for helping me and my partner every time we've ever had a banking issue at Wells Fargo. She has been super responsive, supportive, understanding, and has taken care of everything we've ever needed. Thank you, Shannon!

Best bank I've ever dealt with- the people are great (esp. those working behind the desks). Highly recommend.

Alfredo Ramirez is very knowledgeable about every process in the bank. Go to him for assistance if you are a homeowner, student, or anybody with respect for their financial integrity.

I went in to open the most basic checking account and was bombarded by a long series of extremely personal questions about my boyfriend and my family by the accountant named Kimberly. It was a horrible experience. Thank goodness for online banking because I don't ever want to go inside of there again.

The staff here are very professional and personable. They really helped me save money on a number of occasions and choose accounts/plans that worked best for me and my lifestyle. They do not push things on you that you aren't comfortable with like WF branches in the Bay Area sometimes do.

I've been banking here for 5 years now. It's been great overall, but there is always room for improvement. For one, there is this award that sits in the middle of the building. It says it's awarded annually to a branch who exemplifies excellence, yet the piece has been there for more than 5 years. I've asked different employees over the years if they know what it is (some do know, some didn't), why it still sits there; what's up. Apparently it's a forgotten endeavor, a rouse. it means nothing, and the fact that it sits there, lying, bothers me. Lol, it's not a big deal, but seriously, how hard is it to update your shit? Sure it's nice decor, but it's a LIE. Besides that, the tellers are for the most part, great. There have been a couple of odd balls (no people skills or just snobby) but right now everyone is cool. My favorites were Michelle (she moved to the Eureka branch) and Ruby (she's there now, so up beat and fashionable!) Brian is another great teller. I've been a Wells Fargo customer for over 12 years, and I would choose them over B of A any day.

I am giving 5 stars to the Arcata Wells Fargo branch. Granted, I've never used another bank besides Wells Fargo, and I do enjoy banking with them. Everyone at this Wells Fargo branch is extremely nice. I would go so far as to say that the employees go way out of their way to make sure your experience is a good one. Every encounter has been pleasant. I recently had an incident where I went through the drive thru and withdrew (heheh) $80 and actually forgot to take the money but I grabbed my card. I didn't realize til about 30 minutes later. I went in to talk about my options and the banker that helped me was great. She made the process super easy, and I got my money back the next day to hold me over until they finished the investigation. I've never used anything but the Checking/Savings banking options at Wells Fargo, and am very satisfied. I will continue to visit this location!
