There were five to six staff at the front desk today who stood there and chatted without helping the asian guest to check out .when a female employee saw that the guests were embarrassed, because no one wants to help,she said that she would come and let me help pay the bill. And especially there is a strong male stuff who stood in front of the computer and looked for the next upcoming customer and did not respond to the customer who stand up right here was waiting to check out. No hurry,No rush for them.

I've been shopping here for years. Sadly, customer service has noticeably declined. Today was the worst experience. As I walked in, I asked a nice associate for direction in finding what I was there to purchase. The employee she was talking to started to walk away and nearly ran me over. Didn't say excuse me, pardon me, I had to jump out of his way to avoid being stepped on or possibly even hit with his body. It was as if i wasn't there. He never acknowledged me as he kept walking. I commented to the female employee how he almost hit me, as I was in disbelief he could be so unaware. She said, "Well, we all need to be aware of our surroundings," as if it was my fault he walked in my direction & I had to jump out of his way. I once again said, "he would have run me over!!" To what she then said, "Well, yeah, I'll let him know!" Wth!? I obtained what I needed (lady was helpful). I then went to grab something else I needed. I was in the shoe department and asked where I could find gaiters. The shoe guy didn't speak. He just pointed to the wall across the way. His demeanor was dismissive. Apparently, I disturbed him. My daughter, who doesn't normally shop with me said "wow, they're rude here!" When I went to pay, I wasn't greeted. She rang me up and asked if I wanted a receipt and I wasn't thanked for my purchase. I know people are used to online shopping, but I'm not one of those people. It is the reason why I promote places like REI to shop at, but after today's experience, i may rethink that. Too bad people have forgotten the importance of good customer service. A simple "hello" goes a long way!

Really disappointed in the return policy by the managers here. Despite saying “100% satisfaction guaranteed” they won’t take returns within the window if they judge you used it too much. The return policy is the main reason I buy shoes here so I will certainly be taking my business elsewhere.

I came to pick up my boyfriend a inner tube and didn't really know specifics about the tire on his bike but one of the young ladies Natalie offered to help me out and asked questions while she was trying to find out what products I needed, as well the manager was really nice and very professional, considerate and smart her name is Clara. Both ladies were awesome and I left happy.

UPDATE: Everything that I loved about the company is no longer true. Members no longer get dividends that you can cash out. It's no longer a co-op but a corporation, members can't even attend board meetings or vote for board members anymore, only preselected candidates, selected by other board members.
Whats worse is how they treat employees, a quick google search for, "rei mass layoffs " or "rei retaliates on union employees" will show their true corporate colors. So why pay extra for that? Might as well support local businesses or spend less online, without being constantly asked by multiple employees if you're a member or if you have their Mastercard, if you want a peaceful laid back shopping experience, this isn't it anymore. Poor employees are forced to upset memberships and Mastercard now, or their hours will get cut. This translates to every customer being nagged at, even if you're already a member.

Absolutely LOVE this REI!
The staff are really patient and take the time to make sure you get the right product.
Went shoe shopping due to wearing shoes with a tight/narrow toe box (Hoka Speedgoat 5)
An associate (sorry bro I forgot your name) in the shoe section took the time to bring quite a few pairs of shoes out to ensure I got the right fit (Got the Altra Olympus)
I tried to return a pair of shoes that were a bit outside their return policy but Natalie was very understanding, gracious and went beyond the level of customer service I expected.
Truly a refreshing shopping and customer service experience.
Big ups to management for doing a stellar job here!
Will be back again, thanks!

If you're the type of person to really value what they buy and rathers spent the money one than twice, this is your store. Pricy items but worth the money for the most part, some items can be defective.
