I came to Ark Pet Hospital after a very challenging experience with another vet regarding a health certificate for my dog so we could travel to Costa Rica (we were sent back to California twice in one week because the health certificate was done incorrectly... both times).
Ark was incredible from the initial phone call to the issuing of the final health certificate.
They had wonderful processes, were incredibly thorough, and confirmed with the USDA for the endorsement that everything was done correctly.
We were admitted to Costa Rica no problem with the correct health certificate, thanks to Ark.
I'd highly recommend!

Staff was very friendly, professional and interacted easily with our 2 cats, who don't usually sit still with people they don't know.

I love Dr. Hageman and her crew. They take such good care of our entire zoo both the cats and the reptiles. The staff is well-informed and kind-hearted. I could not ask for a better vet clinic!

This is the most honest, cost conscious (no upselling), and caring vet practitioner I have ever used. They truly care about our pets. I am so grateful to have my animals in their care. Every experience over the past 3 years has been perfect. I recommend them to all of my family and friends. A truly heartfelt thank you to all of the staff and of course Dr. Lori Hageman!

Much more friendly and personal than other vets in town. Very affordable pricing too.

I absolutely love their pocket pet & small critter care. We rescued a mouse (a dwarf with a malocclusion) we found in our kitchen sink. She is obviously special needs, and after over a decade of dog rescue, we were not about to let this little one try to fend for herself. SO, we called around and found Ark. They came highly recommended and were incredibly helpful. They told us what to feed her until we could get her in (baby food for the win!), and Dr Lori was amazing, while also being very upfront about what we will be dealing with when it comes to a mouse that is special needs. We just had her first teeth trimming, which cost approximately ⅓ of what we were quoted elsewhere. Ridley, the Blind Mouse, is now the newest rescue at Boo's Place Animal Sanctuary, and all donations are appreciated! We are now over $1000 into a blind mouse (proper habitats don't come cheap), but all lives are important, and Ark is helping us keep our bills as low as possible. For that, we will forever be grateful. If you have a pocket pet, please give Ark a shot at treating them. They will get phenomenal care.

The staff at Ark are fantastic! We have had nothing but good experiences with any of our pets that we have brought here! Definitely recommended.

I am fairly new to the Contra Costa area and so happy to have discovered the Ark Pet Hospital. When I relocated to Martínez, I could not find any veterinary clinics east of the Caldecott Tunnel in this post-pandemic environment. Everyone told me that they were not taking any new patients or there was a six-months waitlist. That was ridiculous because my cat developed crystals and needed to be seen immediately after he was cleared by the emergency hospital. So, I discovered Ark thanks to a very kind person and they squeezed me in that week of September 2022. Dr. Schlange took care of George and prescribed medicated food. He has not had a flare-up since. I adopted another cat in November 2023, who has had chronic diarrhea/soft stools since he arrived at my house. Dr. Hageman was honest and did not try to upsell me on any unnecessary services unlike my former veterinarian in Oakland (Claremont) or Sage in Concord (Sage recommended nearly $2000 worth of testing including blood work, x-rays, and ultrasound). It turns out that Syd's issues are most likely behavioral in nature and subsequently did not require additional testing since he did not demonstrate additional clinical symptoms. It's rare to find such honesty these days. Overall, everyone is super nice at Ark and there is plenty of free parking in the lot. They also have everything on site including testing of blood and stool, ultrasounds, and x-rays. The Ark is a little bit out of my way from my house, but it's worth it and the prices are incredibly reasonable

Amazing staff, inviting waiting area, and great distraction with the fish tank. However, they are priced higher than some other local vets. Overall, I feel my pet receives better care and the experience is worth the extra cost..

I am a new Shih Tzu puppy owner and needed to get his first round of shots and a puppy exam. The staff at this location are very friendly and personable. They greeted my puppy, Valentino, and I with a great attitude and made us feel welcome. Customer service is great! The price was good for his first shots and examination too. Although I didn’t shop around too much because this office is very close to home and has good reviews, but my family member also got a puppy recently and the puppy package for them was $600 (somewhere in Brentwood). They also tested my puppy’s stool sample and had results super fast. I am very happy to have Valentino be a patient at ARK and will definitely follow up to get him neutered soon.

I judge vets like I judge pro athletes: how are they with the game on the line and in a crucial situation? Quite pleased with the entire staff and surgeon brought in for my lab's ACL. Clear guidance and instructions about the process, a very professional practice. No nickel and diming, it costs what it costs for excellent care. Week 6 and doggo has resumed normal walks, that's pretty good. Dr. Lori instantly diagnosed pup's bad knee. Trust is everything. The Ark delivers.
