I was sold a defective Daiwa Deep Drop Rod (purchased online May 31, 2023) and provided no support after I called. Rod failed on its first use (June 10, 2023) due to the first guide ring slicing the 100 lbs braid that Melton spooled onto the Daiwa Tanacom 1200 reel purchased as part of the rod & reel combo. I lost $100 worth of deep drop tackle because I failed to see the issue after the fist slice and sent down a second rig ( each rig: 5 lbs weight, 5 hook rig, strobe).Melton did not take care of me, rather directed me to deal with Daiwa directly. Daiwa stated that I must pay for packaging and shipping to get the rod to them for the warranty claim. The cost of packaging and shipping is nearly half of the cost of the rod.Never again Melton...or Daiwa. Way to stand behind your product and sales.

I ordered a Trevala rod and picked it up in person. 10 days later I unwrapped it to prep for a trip. The guides were bent so I took pictures and sent them to customer service. No reply for 2 weeks. I called and resent the pictures. A week later I get an email saying that I could have damaged it (it sat in bubble wrap in my room) so they would rewrap maybe. Didn’t expect to be accused of that. Won’t do business with them again.

Sold me a rod with bent guides and accused me of damaging them. I literally contacted them the minute I unwrapped the rod from bubble wrap. Beware

Lots of stuff for sale and browse though. Unfortunately their customer service is what this review is about. Came in to pick up an item I bought online. I stood at the front desk for 7 minutes waiting for the employee and some random guy to finish their chat about sea bass. Not a single acknowledgement that I was waiting or that I even existed while they went on and on about how many sea bass pictures they had on their phone storage. I finally walked away to another part of the store where a different customer was waiting for help. Again no one had any interest in helping a customer standing in their store in line. Wouldn't you know, the original worker finished up his conversation and starts helping a different customer that had just walked in. Legend has it, I am still waiting there to this day...All jokes aside, has I not already gave them my money in the online purchase, I would have left and bought my tackle elsewhere. Avoid this store unless you want to spend time being ignored while the staff hangs out. There are plenty of tackle stores out there that would be glad to have you in their store and will treat you as if they care about what you need.
