Very cool looking atmosphere but I didn’t want the experience the workshop because if felt too childish. I wish there’s a more better version for the real fans

We had booked this experience months in advance for my sons birthday and he had been looking forward it. We built the trip around this being a pinnacle experience because he’s obsessed with Star Wars and robots.
We get there and he goes to build his droid and none of the employees helped him, when he asked questions they were short with us and rude and actively ignored us. Mind you there was maybe one or two other customers in the store, they were not busy. I finally went back up to the counter with literal tears streaming down my face to ask if I could do a return and come back later because no one is helping and Angel (who was working the register) offered to help us and walked us through the rest of the experience, which is the only reason I bumped this up from one star.
I left sobbing because I was so disappointed for my kid. It had so much potential if only the employees made a bare minimum effort but all of them except Angel were rude and ignored all the customers— like why are these people even working in a service industry when they clearly don’t want to be there. How does Disney hire people like that who can’t even bring themselves to acknowledge customers. It doesn’t make sense to me.
We had so been looking forward to this experience and it was such a huge disappointment. I left feeling so sad because all I wanted was a good experience for my kid and to make memories here, I can only hope he loses interest in the droid experience by our next trip so that I don’t have to feel mom guilt for not wanting to put him through such a disappointing experience again.

my son loves this place...but i think i love it more. like the rest of the starwars area in disneyland, this place nails the immersion aspect of the experience. the droid parts on the conveyor belt, the assembly work stations...the decoration...it feels like you're in starwars.
we didn't have to wait at all when we visited, but there is an option to book ahead for a time slot.
i think it was $99 for the droid, and there's a $179 option that includes the droid, a "personality chip", and a backpack. i think the "personality chip" can be bought individually for $19 or $29 (i forget)...my son loves that little chip. backpack is nothing to write home about.
there's other fun stuff in that droid shop besides the droid building experience -- they have some pre-assembled droids, other accessories, kid clothing...my wife bought 4 different sweatshirts for my son, and the clerk was like "these are all for him?"
anyway, i think this is my son's favorite experience at the entire disneyland. too bad it's so expensive.

Create your own remote-control Droid. With different colors to choose from, there are many possible looks for your custom Droid. With add-on accessory options, you are able to create a unique Droid of your choosing. Or opt to purchase the famous R2-D2 model.

DROID DOES!Okay that may be an old school slogan for Verizon Wireless, but it's still applicable here I think lol Because this Droid Depot does what it is meant to! You can build your very own (cute, little, baby) droid robot! It moves, lights up and makes noise and everything. How freaking cool is that!!!! It's super customizable in that you can pick what colors you want and some shapes of the types of hardware (I think the pieces are called that lol), and build away! You can't beat that for $100! Pretty good price if you ask me. The inside of the droid depot is fun to see, because there are parts going around on conveyor belts and fully built droids too for inspiration!

Do not build a droid. It is a huge scam. My 6 year old son built one everything seemed fine. He went to play with it while still at the park waiting for the parade a couple hours after building the Droid.... it didn't work. We went back they switched out parts and it seemed alright. We got home and the thing just drives in circles when it wants to work at all. I have emailed the website address and so far have had to provide the same information that has been requested about 4 times already with still no resolution to the issue. The customer service is a joke it is a different person responding to the emails and nothing is happening but me copying and pasting information that is requested that has already been sent. This is ridiculous, it was a Christmas present to my 6 year old son who loves everything about starwars and was so excited about this. I would not waste your money unless you want to be wasting all your time by sending multiple emails with the same I for.arion multiple times.

My family had come at 7:30pm on Monday and did not realize there were suggested reservations. I checked the reservations and there was one available 30 minutes later. There were 2 guests who came while we were in the "stand-by" line. We waited apx 15 minutes.I opted for the basic $99.99 droid. My son was excited to pick his droid parts; the CM was helpful spot checking his parts were complimentary to each other. Depending on the leg length you may need the extender, etc.The next station is where you will assemble and use a low power electric screwdriver to assemble the legs. Great for kids! The CM brings the droid to life and will pack it into what I dubbed the Build-A-Bear box. Overall great one of a kind experience. No cast discounts BUT if you have a pass, there are discounts available!

You can customize your own droid with reservation here. Super fun and the droid fits in a checked bag. Three options of droids you can build.

Pricey, but well worth it. Great time with the family. Galaxy's Edge was my favorite part of Disney. It wasn't that busy compared to the rest of the park.

My son's first to to Disneyland, we are big Star Wars fans so we splurged and got the build your own droid package with the backpack and personality chip, there was no wait and barely anyone there at around 11 am on a Saturday. The crew was awesome helping my 6 year old build his droid. Definitely made his first trip a great experience!

Honestly so disappointed with the staff at this place. Me and my boyfriend came here on Saturday, were rushed the entire time and not given info on things like attachments that could come with our droids or the fact that bb8 was magnetic etc that definitely would have changed our decision making. We made such expensive purchases and it’s bitterly disappointing considering that.
