You pay the premium for shopping here vs Home Depot but it is generally worth it. You can find deals that are good. The people who work here know what they are talking about.

In general I love Armstrong garden centers, and I loathe to criticize them in any way, but my experience with the staff here has definitely been rocky. Sometimes I'll get a truly plant-interested, knowledgeable associate. Mostly I don't, though. An unfortunately large percentage of the staff here exhibit an attitude comprised of various attributes which can be one or more of: smug, angry, too busy, arrogant, annoyed, unknowledgeable, wrong, or mentally vacant. This is, of course, highly variable, and once in a while I'll get someone truly outstanding to help me, but this is the exception rather than the rule. I think this behavior may not be isolated to only this Armstrong Garden Center, as I've experienced it at other Armstrong Centers as well. For some reason, "plant people" can act very condescending to customers, regardless of that customer's knowledge level. I had some Botany in college, and I've studied plants and love growing them, and when I approach someone with a legitimate and reasonable question, I am often treated as if I am an annoying moron. I can be an annoying moron, but I'm generally not, and when plant shopping, I'm not, so the attitude from the staff is anachronistic. This Armstrong Garden Center is on the small side, and offers a smaller selection of plants than most other Armstrong Centers do. Prices are competitive, though, and they have a good selection of somewhat uncommon plant products, like the seeds required to reseed a Marathon lawn, whether Marathon I, II, or IIII. They also have a good selection of water features, like fountains, and selection of gardening tools that are a notch above what one might find at your typical big box store. So despite this locations failings, I still continue to buy from here, hoping my pleasant demeaner serves as an example that not all plant-buying customers are uninformed neophytes.

My husband and I recently had the pleasure of working with talented landscape designer, Jeffery Miele, on a major project to redesign our front and back yards. His expertise was apparent as Jeffery helped us reach our goals to transition to more drought-tolerant plants while adding some bright colors to our landscaping. We loved his designs, and we met him onsite at the Anaheim Hills Armstrong to pick and choose our actual plants. At the location, we were pleased to meet Bob, Jason, and Brian who continued to impress us with their willingness to help and their dedication to keep our project moving in a timely fashion. We were touched that they each went above and beyond to rush order many of our plants to coordinate a smooth pick up by our installer. While all of the employees at Anaheim were a true pleasure to work with, Bob really helped us to ensure everything was perfect, down to the last detail. Bob helped us pivot and choose various plants in the instance that one was not available while still maintaining Jeffery's vision. One of the unexpected highlights was the succulent fountain that Brian helped us design! We are so grateful, and we would absolutely recommend the Anaheim Hills Armstrong to anyone who is looking to improve their landscaping.

Stopped in today to checkout this location. Usually I go to the one in La Habra. This one did not disappoint. I had to do a weird u-turn to get into the lot, but traffic wasn't bad so it really wasn't a big deal. There was plenty of parking, which I loved. When first walking in, I kinda felt like this location was actually a little larger than the one I usually go to... but it could have just been the layout. I was very happy with their selection and ended up buying some pots that I haven't seen before. Their staff were super attentive, and helped with suggestions. I will definitely be back when I come to the area.

I love this garden center! Every time I go here the employees are kind, understanding, and extremely helpful. I feel welcomed and appreciated. I admit, I do not know much about plants, so their help is very valuable. The plants are extremely high quality and I love how I can find everything I need, especially herbs and vegetables. At other places they rarely have what I need and it is more expensive (home depot). I saw an email for the Holiday Gnome scavenger hunt for a $100 gift card, I mean, what could be better than that? I attended the event and was greeted with delicious cold apple cider, kind words, and the most gorgeous holiday plant arrangements and Christmas trees I have ever seen. We found one, and a ton of great gifts for family. So exciting! The employees were so helpful, and I had a blast! I hope they do the scavenger hunt more often because it got my husband and friends to join me on a shopping excursion and have some fun at the same time. Customer for life. Thank you Armstrong Anaheim Hills!

I had my entire front yard completely re-done by Armstrong in Anaheim. After they installed a drip system and planted all the plants, within a week 4 plants died. It took them 2 weeks to get back out here and replace them. When they came to replace them, they saw that 6 more had died and now we have weeds coming up all over. We didn't have any weeds before Armstrong was here. Also, they didn't put any kind of plastic weed barrier down and I've been told that's standard practice. Well not for them. I was very disappointed in the whole endeavor. It cost a lot and I'm still not happy. I asked for a pink Crepe Myrtle tree and got a purple one. It's pretty but not what I asked for. They don't listen!

Every time I have a gift card, I have a terrible experience. Before I even looked at a plant, I asked them to check my 2 gift cards. They gave me printouts on each card which I presented at the register. One went through fine, the other gave the cashier trouble. He tried twice and then looked at me like" it doesn't work, now what?" They know it's their gift cards system but they act like I'm trying to pull a scam and give me a bad attitude. This has been the case you g back 12 years. I'm driving to Green Thumb in El Toro from now on. I've still got $20 on one card, once I use that up I won't be going back.
