Stayed in the hostel on Friday the 13th. Hung out in the pub, got a warm shower, enjoyed the history and art. Great time here!

Walked in, turned around, Never to return. A dirty looking dump of a place.

Great place, cozy, thanks for the great coffee and service with a smile. Our room (210, Treadle) was fine, however, small toilet, ceiling fan makes a lot of racket and the shower needs some work as most of the water comes out of the faucet for the bath instead of the shower head.

To start off you get a real key for this hotel. I personally love that. They also have key pads for access to the hotel when staff goes home so very safe. Good coffee and pastry’s. And the room and building were gorgeous. The walk to the room passes seating areas with fun couches. The room furnishing were very artful as well. Wonderful experience with kind and helpful staff. Only thing was the mattress was very firm but that’s a personal preference.
Rooms: Cute rooms with nice decorations, that were older and added to the charm of the hotel. The clawfoot bathtub was very aesthetic. Bed was a little firm for my liking but to each their own.
Safety: The entrances to the hotel have key pad locks so it limits the traffic and keeps it safe at night.
Walkability: Right on the main road where all the shops are and they have a gravel parking lot behind the hotel.
Food and drinks: Cafe had good coffee as well as a nice variety of pasty’s.

Wonderful historic hotel. The complimentary coffee and pastry were a great treat. Air conditioning was great and kept the room 65 degrees even though it was 102 outside. Mattress was a little firm and outdated for my liking but other than that it was a great place to stay as I traveled through Alturas. Staff was super polite and very attentive.

The hotel Niles is for people who want a vintage hotel, and will accept what that means. Yes, some paint is chipping off, and hallway carpets need some cleaning. But The rooms are furnished in the appropriate style, and clean. The old hotel ambience is worth it. I add the bar and coffee shops are definitely assets, and the restaurant is closer to mediocre than excellent.
The staff was really good. Of particular note is I forgot my Kindle, and the staff readily secured it and mailed it to me.

I like some people that go here. I stayed here and it’s haunted to the point where it’s sketch. I got kicked out because the girl downstairs who was 19 got upset I brought a date with me, I’m 29 and was with my date who’s 27. Give me a break. They listened to her and actually called the sheriff on me. It was quite disgraceful. I would rather stay at the trailside. It’s a nicer place with a better owner/manager.

Great hotel for a step back in time. Right in town with a coffee shop/restaurant on site it's an old hotel with comfortable beds, we even had an actual key for the room. We like older independent hotels like this, if you're a whiny fussy who has to have every just so you'll hate this place. Can't help you with that, it was clean and comfortable yet old with lots of history and friendly helpful staff. I look forward to passing that way again.

We threw a graduation party at the hotel. We had a great time! The staff were great, the room was beautiful. The supplied sound system was perfect for the ensuing dance party and the prices were very affordable!
Friends who traveled from farther away stayed at the hotel and liked the old school setup and historic decor. This place is a gem!
