Such a wide assortment of beautifully hand made African items. They carry baskets, musical instruments, jewelry, clothing, statues, carvings, soaps, and so much more. I enjoyed looking at the art and antique items. They are extremely helpful and have great customer service. It smells lovely in there too :) Another thing I should mention is that the prices are fair compared to other places I have been.

Rhythms has everything! The family that owns the shop are the friendliest and most kind people. I have had a dress made, bought clothing for my family and I, and more. Rythms is highly recommended by me for all things African. On the last Saturday of every month, the have fresh fruit Saturday and they have fresh fruits and veggies free of charge. Please patronize this business for amazing cultural finds.

A hidden gem in Altadena owned by Emeka Doc Mob Chukwurah. In addition to a unique array of garments to select from, you can also purchase instruments, jewelry, handbags, etc. Monthly they giveaway fresh fruit and vegetables to the community. Annually, they host the Rhythms of the Village Spring Festival. Positive vibes and much ❤????!!!

On the last Thursday of each month, my friend Emeka throws an open mic festival. This festival is very special because it allows artists who’ve been swept under the rug to express their beauty and craft. I am one of those artists. Emeka is a humble store owner, who owns an African culture shop called “Rhythms of the Village” in Altadena, California. No artist is overlooked here. I’ve seen performances ranging from bagpipes to an Alice in Wonderland reenactment. Whatever one wants to express is acceptable at this event. This shop reminds people of their roots and culture. You do not have to be African to be a part of the tribe. Everyone is welcome. The whole point of the festival is to unite all the tribes. It also reminds the community that we are all connected as one. Everyone has a part in the festival such as bringing food, jewelry, music, etc.
