I never write reviews, positive or negative, but I'll make an exception for Steve and his shop. I've been taking my bikes here for quite some time (and this review is long overdue) and you can tell that Steve is passionate about what he does. He will always do things in your interest and not what is more profitable for himself. In the past I went to some places for a simple 30$ adjustment and they will try to up-sell everything ... "you need this or you need that". With Steve you know that it will never happen. He will do what's needed for your bike. He might point out things that you might want to keep an eye on, but that's it. I highly recommend this shop if you have any small or big issue with your bike. Steve will fix it. Thanks Steve for your help over all these yearsGiangi

I've been going here for many years, but was just reminded last week about why I like working with Steve, the owner/mechanic. I stopped in for a small part (presta valve core) and expected to pay $5-$10 for it. Steve went to a bin, picked one out, and handed it to me. I had money in hand to pay him, but he said to just take it. I told him I wanted to do my part to help him stay in business, and he said that this was just part of doing business for him. Well, I think his strategy is working -- it inspired me to write this review! He is knowledgable and your turn-around time on a repair is going to be faster than most shops.

I was in dire need of fixing my son's bike seat and finding a new shop to replace Jones. Already a couple of stores had given my wife a couple of stories why it would cost so much. I wasn't sure if this would be an easy fix or not, but on the phone the guys at Open Road Bicylce Shop were very friendly and easy going about handling my (what were probably) stupid questions. When I brought the bike in, they took a look and saw it was an easy fix and fixed it on the spot I found our new bike shop, thank goodness shops like this still exist

Steve is great! He's honest, knowledgeable, and offers more than fair prices for great service. Won't up-sell you which is very much appreciated and hard to find these days.

Steve is the best. His prices are more than reasonable and he is quick with his repairs. I've used a few bike shops, but he's the one that I always come back to.

Thanks to Yelp for letting me know about this great "old-school" entrepreneur neighborhood bike shop. I had just purchases a used 2005 Giant Yukon that had been sitting in a garage for over ten years. From what I can tell, Steve's tune-up rate is the best in town and he did not attempt to "upsell" me on items I did not need. He had to spend time soaking parts of my front Shimano derailleur/brake housing, which had "atrophied" from lack of use, so this took me a small amount beyond the $45 base tune-up costs. The total cost was an extremely reasonable $63!The bike is riding like almost new and is perfect for someone getting back into cycling after years being away from the market. Steve gave me some local route tips for a newbie like me, and that was also appreciated.Steve is like that reliable and trustworthy auto mechanic you value and keep returning to.The shop seems stocked with the accessories most will need too...

I've been taking my bicycle to Steve for the past 7-8 years or so. From his old location off of Sierra Madre to now the newer one on Lake Ave. Steve is extremely knowledgeable and only charges for the necessary maintenance or fixes. Also, he had a nice selection of jerseys which I've purchased from him in the past. Look no further for your bike needs than Open Road.

I have been cycling for a while but then I stopped and I just recently picked up the sport again. I needed a new bike and I visited many bike shops in the Pasadena/Altadena Area; needless to say I had poor experiences with all of them. All of them except One! Open Road Bicycle Shop! The owner Steve is super knowledgeable, very respectful and very friendly (He owns the Bunny Museum Next Door). As soon as I walked into the shop I knew I was in the Right Place! I said I wanted a bike he said -what did you have in mind? - I said a Fixed/Single Speed and he was quick to show me the Must beautiful bike I ever did see! It was Perfect and it was the perfect size for my height. I was lucky to buy it and now I have my go to bike shop for ever! Thanks Steve!
