Where do I start!?
September 2019 by Jon V.
A couple years later and my opinion is the same... hard for me to imagine a better fitness experience. Writing an update because the gym has undergone some significant changes since I started. Ownership has changed, as have the lead coaches. Gym hasn't really missed a beat with these adjustments. While prior ownership/lead coaching was great, so is the current regime. When it comes to CrossFit, you're essentially getting individual training in a class format. The biggest variable in any given box is coaching; good boxes have skilled coaches who provide a lot of one-on-one support and a fun, safe training experience. Pam, Johnna and Ryan are the coaches at the majority of my classes now, and they're the types of coaches that make a gym.

Dropped in since I was in the area and loved it! Emailed with Roger, the owner, prior to dropping in, let him know i was in the area and getting set up was nice and easy. The gym is clean and spacious, and crossfit is all about the community. From the beginning I felt welcomed, and the coach made it the theme of the class to make sure i felt welcomed amongst the members. I really felt like I was a long time member from the hospitality at this gym, even when I had not even been there for over an hour. I believe that happy members will definitely show and I could definitely see that from my short time at Aliso Crossfit. If you want a great workout and a great community, I would definitely recommend this box! I am definitely going to continue to drop in whenever I am in town :) Thanks everyone at Aliso Crossfit for welcoming me!

I love that Aliso CrossFit extends its hospitality to friends and family! My children and myself love supporting their dad with his love for this sport and appreciate the invitations for family events! The positive message of family, health and fitness is clear to all that work out there and we are proud to support this message at the box and within our home!

My BF and I stopped in for open gym while we were staying in Laguna for the weekend. Aliso Crossfit is a great box - clean and spacious. Definitely a well-cares for spot. We loved meeting Coach Buster too!

Dropped in to Aliso CrossFit while visiting for work and absolutely loved it. Dropped in to open gym on Sunday and took class with Buster on Monday. The coaches are some of the nicest people I’ve ever met and made this a super enjoyable box to sweat in. Will definitely be back on my next trip out here! Thank you!!

This box is AMAZING! Ever go to a gym/boot camp etc. and feel intimidated and judged? This is such a comfortable environment right from the start. Everyone is sure to welcome you and introduce you to other members so you feel comfortable. New to working out or CrossFit? That's ok because they have a foundations class for beginners or people wanting to work on their technique- foundations breaks everything down step by step so you are not overwhelmed. Workouts are scaled and modifications are given when needed. The owners are all very involved which keeps the service level top notch here. It truly feels like friends and family hanging out to work out. I can't say enough how great they are and it's nice to have a gym that I truly look forward to going to each time. Thank you for your commitment to excellence

Tremendous community of people all working to improve their fitness and overall health!
I've been part of this community for a couple years now and can honestly say that I am honored to work with and for them on a daily basis.

I absolutely love CrossFit and Aliso CrossFit is a wonderful place to start. I didn't know what to expect when I just showed up one day and told them I wanted to try it out. at first I was a bit nervous and apprehensive seeing as how i was out of shape and overweight, but i soon discovered that the people and the staff are some of the most motivating and accommodating people i have ever met. The owner rick is a great leader and his handpicked coaches are skilled and diverse. I am hooked for life. who knows maybe one day i will be fit enough to compete.

I have been a member of ACF for 2 years now and I can honestly say joining was THE best health decision I have ever made. Looking back at pictures of when I first joined, I am reminded of how out of shape I looked and I recall feeling very unhappy with my self as a result. Prior to joining I had heard of the CrossFit brand and had friends who had achieved great results....yet I was still skeptical, because of all of the negative rumors surrounding CrossFit and it's safety. I decided to attend a free class and after the first workout (as challenging as it was), I knew that I was going to stay around and give this CrossFit thing a shot. I left that day with a feeling of accomplishment and felt comfort that the staff at ACF was very knowledgeable and placed a high focus on safety. I am very proud that I have stayed injury free and been able to consistently work and make gains in my fitness and overall health. I am 35 with 2 children and in the best physical shape of my life. Not only has this experience been life changing for my health, I have also made great connections with members and the CrossFit community in general. I attend competitions, events, fundraisers, etc. I have made a bunch of great friends, and the experience has overall made me a better person. I am better at time management, I feel like my my mind functions better, I am happier, and I have gained a wealth of knowledge that I will use for the rest of my life on diet and exercise. I really owe the staff and owners of Aliso CrossFit a great deal of gratitude for what they have given me. I highly encourage anyone at any fitness level or age to give it a shot. You WILL be challenged; but I guarantee if you stick with it and pay attention to the advice of the staff, stay dedicated, this will be a life changer for you!

3..2...1...GO! I have become very familiar with this phrase over the past year. After a month of emails back and forth with one of the owners, I finally walked in the door early January, 2012, to finally try this thing called CrossFit. I had known about it for a while, back when it was only done in your garage. But having a place nearby I could go to was fantastic! I met Rick, the owner and name on the emails, and we talked about my background and my goals. I did the On Ramp intro class and got hooked! This was the combination of exercise and personnel I was looking for! The owners (Rick and his wife Chelsea) have done an outstanding job of creating a place that both welcomes you, and challenges you. The coaches, Clayton, Jackson, and Rob, are at once inspiring and motivating, pushing you through the WOD (Workout Of the Day). It doesn't matter if you can lift 5 pounds or 500, if you can run or not, or do a pull up or not, you are still met with the same coaching, motivation and support.

As a Doctor of Chiropractic I know all about the importance of functional movement training and exercise, and CrossFit is just that; functional, and by that I mean that these exercises, lifts and movements will improve your function in your daily routine be it as an office worker, business person law enforcement officer, firefighter, housewife, athlete, armed service man or woman, student, etc... Improved function decreases pain. CrossFit gets a bad wrap from people who don't know any better because they think that doing CrossFit will cause injuries. Well, so will walking down the stairs if done improperly. Granted, these workout are intense and you will be moving weight and your body around, but when done with proper form and scaled to your ability, they can actually do wonders for injury prevention, core stability and strength, as well as cardiovascular, immune and nervous system health. This is because CrossFit workouts are designed to create a Metabolic Effect that burns calories for up to 36 hours after your workout; something not caused by hours on a treadmill... Use proper form, scale the weight to your ability and check your ego at the door and you shouldn't have to worry about injuries.
