Lost me as a customer forever, and you should avoid them too. I went in for a tune up on my Subaru, this has been the only place I've ever taken my Subaru, it's close, it's a certified mechanic, I didn't mind that they were overcharging for oil changes whatever, not the complaint I'm here for. After my tune up, the mechanic told me I had the dreaded head gasket leak. The quote to fix it? $7,000 plus more depending once the go in an look and see if there's other issues. My 2013 Subaru is valued at 6.5k so my knee jerk reaction was to sell the car fast and get into a Honda and never drive a Subaru again, so seeing as their plan was hoping I would trade in for another Subaru and keep me as a customer, this would have inadvertently lost me anyway because I was gonna take my Honda to a Honda dealer. Anyway, I take my Subaru to a friend, he's not a certified Subaru dealer, but a mechanic. He says, "I don't really see any evidence of the leak happening here? you should maybe take this to another mechanic?" So I do, this mechanic quotes me at $1800 for the head gasket. Great, easily going to go to him instead. I take it to him, he gets under the hood and he says "who told you you have a head gasket leak cuz this engine is in great shape? And you have the 2.0L which isn't even the one that's known for the head gasket leak, that's the 2.5s with that issue. So he doesn't even do any repairing to my car, he just sends me home with no cost to me. Needless to say, I will never be back to Albany Subaru and I hope none of you pay 7k for a repair your car doesn't need. So from the bottom of my heart, I wish you the worst in life. People like you are bad people who shouldn't be allowed to live in civilized society. I wish I could remember the neanderthal posing as a mechanic here so I could save future customers. But I would say if ANY mechanic is getting away with this, it's already part of a toxic culture to rip off their customers here. Save your money and the headache. Shame on you Albany Subaru.

I always go here for regular check ups. I usually have no problem and things are handled well. Staff has always been good and service has always been good as well. I will add one unfortunate thing. One time i took my car in for a regular check up and oil change. After dropping it off, I received a call saying that they suggest I replace one of my tires due to a nail. Remind you, my car is brand new, tires less than a year old. So i thought to myself no way i need a new tire already. After taking a look at it and taking it to another shop all i needed was a patch on the tire. Saved me a few hundred dollars. I say this as a reminder, everything is about money. And it's unfortunate that instead of offering to patch it for the lower cost they immediately resorted to the most expensive cost of replacing a brand new tire. Just make sure you always ask questions and consider your options because people will always try getting more money out of you.

It's been a long time since I had a Subaru. Always loved the service at this location. Great combination of quality and value.. We came to visit and found the excellence continues..Allan, the service advisor, did a great job of discussing the benefits of Subaru technology With my son while shiwing us the service area. The staff was so kind and also highlighted what a well run operation they have.. Little shout up, also to Jesus who talked with us while and made us feel very welcome while keeping everyone safe..Albany subaru was always the best between the other bait area dealer shops and I'm happy to report still seems fantastic.

Made an appointment to specifically look at an issue with my Subaru's starter. Took a week for appointment. They offered an oil change at same time. Left car for 6 hours and they did not even check the original issue, saying there was no time. They push hard on upwelling ad-ons. Reason why this shop has such bad Yelp reviews. Not going back.

The service is struggling for the past 15 years or so (was good in early 2000, I know them very well for the past 23 years). The service station is long suffering from incompetence and understaffing. Officers are on the edge of being rude and openly negligent. Worst experience scheduling the service online. People awaken! This is not how a good car service should work! Despite of that the longest wait time (weeks) for simple battery replacement as they want to load your bill with all they could think of. And because they are owned by the dealership of course, paying them good money no matter their performance! The dealership + servicer is clearly a very bad business combination for an average customer happiness. As soon as your warranty with them is over, you are a nobody. Look elsewhere. The dealership is good though (all my Subarus are form them).

Once I get past the Attitude gauntlet through to the Service Dept, I get tremendous service. I was using Fremont Subaru but their communication was terrible. I explained my frustration to Jasmine at Albany. She was really accommodating and she always followed through to make sure I was getting the expected level of service. I've been using Albany for service for four years, and I highly recommend them. Everyone from the cashiers to the shuttle driver are super friendly and helpful. Also, during lockdown they were responsible and respectful of everyone's safety.

I'm going to start with. I've been taking my car here for years with a fairly positive experience. They absolutely charge a premium and this at the time was the best subaru repair shop I had worked with. I had recently brought the car in to do some fairly routine repairs and after receiving the car back it started knocking almost immediately after driving the car away. They had done an oil flush and refill. I brought my car right back and had it towed in as to not wear in the motor more. I really do care for my car. They came back to me with the car had a massive engine failure seemingly out of nowhere.. I was under the impression that subarus are very reliable vehicles and in my experience with mine and my wife's car in comparison to many cars I've owned in the past it is not a reliable vehicle and the repairs are expensive. The shop was very dismissive at my concerns that the previous repair caused or contributed to the current engine failure. In communications the representative that I spoke to said that these things happen and told me at first that the repair would cost me 12k. Then when I inquired about the proposed repair asking if there would be any possible hidden charges They said there could be and it could cost upwards of 16k+ after all said and done. This prompted me to call other shops. I sent in the repair proposal to those other shops and they all came back to me with more comprehensive repair proposals that would include commonly seen issues with the repair that Albany Subaru omitted from there original proposal prompting me to feel like Albany Subaru was being dishonest and not transparent about the proposed costs. My recommendation is find a local reputable shop to do your future repairs a shop that will dig a bit to find out what's really going on with the car. After I had received my car back from Albany Subaru they told me they had done a full multi point inspection and road test. I have a feeling this was not done as someone would have noticed a problem.

I was looking for a new Crosstrec. After a coupe of days and bargaining, we came to agreement on price and terms. I was told I could come by and pick up the car, after I signed the paperwork. In the mean time I sold my car. When I got there, no car for me. They like to blame the customer for their fiddling and bumbling around, but in the end the dealership missed a sale because they dropped the ball. They should know the only credit reporting agency they use is closed on Sunday. They even failed to do the thing on the next day (Monday). I would stay away from this dealership especially the Mike and Stephen guys. If you pay cash even my dead grandmother could complete a transaction. Financing takes some degree of business acumen. These guys talk a good smooth game, but their performance gets an D- imo

My transmission was making a noise, and I needed it repaired. I have a natural suspicion about all mechanics that I don't have a rapport with, so I took it to my local mechanic that I know and trust first. He told me to go to the dealer because the issue is something that should be covered under the warranty. So I took it in to Albany Subaru. The whole time, I am waiting for the other shoe to drop, for them to call me telling me for some reason the work isn't covered under warranty and that I would need to pay lots of money to get it fixed. This never happened. John Ownby was straight up with me and responsive. They got me a new transmission, all under the warranty. John made sure I had a loaner car. And boom, easy no hassle, my car was fixed. Thanks all, for your honesty and professional service.

I just bought a Subaru Forester and had my first service today at Albany Subaru. I used their express service which is pretty cool as far as waiting for the service. I had such a good experience and everyone was incredibly polite and helpful. Alan checked my car in and even though I was a few minutes late...well ok, 20 minutes late, I thought it was going to be a problem. Alan was so reassuring and took care of me in such a nice way. The next person I worked with was Peggy who was so warm and helpful checking in my car. Oddly they didn't have my prepaid service information in the computer but Peggy took care of that. Lastly, Christine gave me the ok to go paperwork and she was very efficient and easy to work with. So far so good. I'll keep you posted if I ever have an issue. I like this dealership.

12 months after purchasing our vehicle I brought it in for a service and tire rotation. AFTER the "service" they told me my rear lug nut was "seized" and it would be 300$ per lug nut to fix. I knew they were lying bc I marked my tires BEFORE the rotation. They rotated all of them and caused the problem. Instead of taking their bs story face value I drove to a friends auto shop. He fixed it for 60$. Albany Subaru is a 1 star outfit with high turnover and ILLEGAL tactics. Go elsewhere or they will screw you over.

I have been to the service department three times so far and each time I have received excellent customer service. They are considerate on the phone and in-person. Once they completed the work, they notified me via text and said I could come and pick up. One of those days, I asked if they could complete the task a little earlier and they were able to accommodate me with an earlier pick up time.
