The parts people were very helpful. Printed a drawing of a differential assembly to pinpoint the exact washers I needed. Things are pricy but that is not under their control

This place really sucks! False advertisement smh... not sure who to blame here but this freaking BS!!! I was at the dealership around 6:30am in the morning today 3/7/24 expecting I was first in line so I can go in/out really quickly, but guess what! I got kicked out because I don't have an appointment smh... I have a 2020 Subaru Ascent our service record for a free Oil Change and Tire Rotation is under Chita Cacal my mom... which still under warranty when we bought the car and I still have 5 more to go... I want a full refund for the rest of my Express Service and I will go somewhere else or they can have it, don't need this kind of BS...

I have been going here for more than 10 years and have always had a great experience. The whole team is fantastic. Special shout-out to Nikkie and Torii! They are knowledgeable, efficient and customer-focused. Kudos to Albany Subaru. They are the best!

Always something at this Subaru location. Avoid it and go to the Walnut Creek location instead. They refused to order my husband an Uber because, "they only do it on the weekdays". What kind of excuse is that? We live 2 miles away if that. And the location is super tiny and hectic.

Took my Subaru in because it was sounding funny. Representative was on phone and talked to her customers saying that their car had radiator problem. Man got off of phone and said that my car had a radiator problem. Radiator virus? Man then looked at my tires and said they were bald and I needed 4 new tires. HeFelt the smooth part of the tires NOT the tread. I took out my tread gauge and showed him that my tires had perfect tree. Go elsewhere. Either the employee was playing radiator and new tires games or the shop is doing the games. Might be a female but I an not stupid. Another shop said my tires were fine and my radiator just needed a very inexpensive tweaking. I will NEVER go back to this shop. NEVER!

Best dealership experience I have ever had in my life. I myself have worked for Dealership service departments for over 3 decades, and I have never felt so great about a experience. Aaron in the service department is a true class act unlike any other I have dealt with. I asked to be to a technician and they didn't even bat a eye, and connected me with Aaron. Aaron handled my issue better then tech line or any other new car service support. I was in a pinch with a 2024 Crosstrek Wilderness and Aaron went to and beyond the call of duty. Albany may be twice as far as Serramonte Subaru but I am willing to make the drive. You guys ROCK!!!!

Walk away from this tiny Subaru service center. I was 30 minutes late for my appointment, the lady told me my appointment was canceled. My previous visit was bad too. They don't have tire while I requested new tires. I am so angry today, and booked the Oakland 27th street service center immediately. They replaced my tires and give routine service. They even called me a Uber home and they have rest area with drink and apple. Walk away from this Albany service center, the lady just murmured at her throat, even don't want to speak out..So disappointed. Will never go again. The manager contact me after this review and I got to understand that some of their technicians are sick and day off on my visit day. So I increased my rating to 3 stars

The attached photos show a conversation that happened right after my review was posted on Yelp. A person named Aaron (apparently the service manager of Albany Subaru) got in touch. After I asked for a refund, or a partial refund, he offered to refund the work that was done, IF I removed my Yelp review. That's unethical, which is what I told him. After that, someone named Scott posted the reply to my review below. I'm not interested in interacting with Albany Subaru anymore, so I have not replied or contacted them.

Let me start off by saying I rarely take the time to review places but there have been a few times in recent times that the people working this location have been rude and dismissive over the phone. I bought a 2022 Subaru last year and got all the insurance perks they offered thinking it would be a good idea. Boy am I starting to regret this decision. Every time I call for services they want to give me a quote even though the services should be covered. I have to go back and forth with them so they can pull my records and see that it is in fact covered. For example, my tire needed to be replaced and I have the coverage that includes this service but yet again they were trying to charge me. If I'm not on top of things with them they overlook my already paid for services. Makes me wonder what their screen shows and why they aren't seeing that it IS in fact covered. Another time around I was asking about a dent that my car has and how it was covered thru the dent coverage and the person I spoke to over the phone gave me so much attitude... "We dont do that here". You don't? Then why do I have the coverage, please explain. They then proceeded to talk down to me about how insurance works and how THEIR location doesn't have that service. All I ask for from anyone is that they are kind and understanding. There was no need for this person to come at me as hard as they did simply for inquiring about a service I purchased thru their dealership. DO BETTER.

Made an appointment online to get an Express appointment for my 2021 Forester for an oil change and 18k mi checkup. Service Advisor Alan was great, friendly, helpful, and clear. I had a coupon I printed from online and he showed me the 3 different choices & adjusted prices with the coupon for the Express oil change (1 was the basic oil change, inspection, and tire rotation, the other 2 had some add ons). I picked the middle package that included a quick tire alignment check. He said it would be 60-90 mins. After about 60 mins I got a text saying the cabin filter is dirty and should be replaced and was quoted a reasonable price (we've never changed it in the 2.5 years we've had the car) and he also said that the alignment checked failed so they recommend aligning the tires (also something we've never done to this car). He said it would take another 2 hours for all that so I said that was too long, then the manager said they could get it all done in 1 hour so we approved the extra work, and it was indeed all done in 1 extra hour. All in all they spent 2 hours on the car (instead of the original 90 min estimate for the Express appointment), but they also did extra work. The cost ended up about double what the initial estimate was, but again, they did extra work that I believe was indeed necessary. Definitely coming back here!

Service manager is liar. Bought Subaru outback 2013 from this dealership with about 25K miles and full factory warranty. Almost immediately I noticed the car was losing oil and I was needing to put a liter of oil in it every 3500 miles. I contacted the service department who told me that was normal for the vehicle. Within a year I was putting in a liter of oil every 3k miles with same response, 2 years later I was putting in a liter of oil every 2700 miles and they repeatedly told me that was normal. Eventually I was putting in oil every 2k miles and they told me to bring it in to check for leaks. They couldn't identify leaks. I continued to drive it and was eventually putting in a liter of oil every 1500 miles. I contacted the dealership over in Marin to get another opinion and they immediately told me that the model had an engine recall on it for oil consumption. The Marin dealer did consumption test and found out it was clearly consuming oil, but they told me my warranty had just barely expired. I called Albany Subaru and spoke to there manager who said I should have brought it in for a consumption test sooner. He denied that I had ever asked them about consumption problems, but if I had they would have told me about the recall. I of course had records of the payment I made to them to check for oil loss. He responded by saying that I only had them checks for leaks and oil loss, and that I never asked them about consumption! He refused to work with me on the issue.

Lost me as a customer forever, and you should avoid them too. I went in for a tune up on my Subaru, this has been the only place I've ever taken my Subaru, it's close, it's a certified mechanic, I didn't mind that they were overcharging for oil changes whatever, not the complaint I'm here for. After my tune up, the mechanic told me I had the dreaded head gasket leak. The quote to fix it? $7,000 plus more depending once the go in an look and see if there's other issues. My 2013 Subaru is valued at 6.5k so my knee j*** reaction was to sell the car fast and get into a Honda and never drive a Subaru again, so seeing as their plan was hoping I would trade in for another Subaru and keep me as a customer, this would have inadvertently lost me anyway because I was gonna take my Honda to a Honda dealer. Anyway, I take my Subaru to a friend, he's not a certified Subaru dealer, but a mechanic. He says, "I don't really see any evidence of the leak happening here? you should maybe take this to another mechanic?" So I do, this mechanic quotes me at $1800 for the head gasket. Great, easily going to go to him instead. I take it to him, he gets under the hood and he says "who told you you have a head gasket leak cuz this engine is in great shape? And you have the 2.0L which isn't even the one that's known for the head gasket leak, that's the 2.5s with that issue. So he doesn't even do any repairing to my car, he just sends me home with no cost to me. Needless to say, I will never be back to Albany Subaru and I hope none of you pay 7k for a repair your car doesn't need. So from the bottom of my heart, I wish you the worst in life. People like you are bad people who shouldn't be allowed to live in civilized society. I wish I could remember the neanderthal posing as a mechanic here so I could save future customers. But I would say if ANY mechanic is getting away with this, it's already part of a toxic culture to rip off their customers here. Save your money and the headache. Shame on you Albany Subaru.

I always go here for regular check ups. I usually have no problem and things are handled well. Staff has always been good and service has always been good as well. I will add one unfortunate thing. One time i took my car in for a regular check up and oil change. After dropping it off, I received a call saying that they suggest I replace one of my tires due to a nail. Remind you, my car is brand new, tires less than a year old. So i thought to myself no way i need a new tire already. After taking a look at it and taking it to another shop all i needed was a patch on the tire. Saved me a few hundred dollars. I say this as a reminder, everything is about money. And it's unfortunate that instead of offering to patch it for the lower cost they immediately resorted to the most expensive cost of replacing a brand new tire. Just make sure you always ask questions and consider your options because people will always try getting more money out of you.

Dropped my friend off with his car is supposed to be a 2-hour experience after waiting 4 hours and no phone call they said it'd be another 4 hours for a pickup so disappointed we decided to take the car to another the 15,000 mile check up on his new car that he had bought from them this is the second time this has happened to him cuz he had bought another car from them never going back this seems to be a habit with the service department there really a bummer!!
