“Very nice and knowledgeable staff. Was not a huge Trek brand fan until I met these guys. I still love the dirty/cluttered old school bike shops in the area but happy to have the trek shop in town. They know their stuff and are very knowledgeable about what they sell. Prices are in line with other shops in the area. Check them out, you will be happy.”

“I've been going to this place for years. Over the top service and amazingly the same clientele for the most part. That says a lot about an establishment and a service truly does speak for itself. I really have no reason to go anywhere else. It's so wonderful to keep it local. I love the trails here off road and on road and I'm an avid bicyclist myself. So wonderful to have somewhere this close to home and when I'm out and about and need emergency service. Thank you David for your top notch service and for all the other names I haven't committed to memory yet.”

“Big shout out to all the workers and staff members at Clayton Bicycle Center. I recently dropped off my Trek Bicycle to get a general tune-up and my gearing all corrected. They exceeded all expectations as usual. Runs like new! Very knowledgeable and very friendly staff- very affordable too!”

“Manager Steve was extremely helpful and knowledgeable in assisting my son with his first BMX bike purchase. He explained componentry, manufacturer history and reputation, size options and everything else pertinent to the decision. My son and I felt lucky to have received Steve's advice and assistance. Quality shop, good people.”

“Doug converted two comfort bikes for us in 2016. We have almost 4000 miles on both. We have had only very minor problems with the bikes. We now live in Oregon but we still consult Doug whenever we have questions. He has been very good at responding to any questions and giving his advice. We are really happy with his service. We highly recommend him.”

“Had a bunch of work done due to mileage (1200 mi) - long overdue because I was new to Bay Area and didn't have a go-to bike shop. When I arrived with my neglected bike, I just listed all of the parts that needed replacing (wrote it down myself in a notebook). I was in no rush, but repairs were completed timely (less than 1 week). Price was higher than I expected, but not ridiculous. Workmanship was also good. A few minor negative criticisms are:1. Cannot pay by credit card or debit (Yelp business description says they accept cc) - Apple Pay or Zelle only. A minor inconvenience, but this was never communicated to me by the shop before I picked up my bike.2. Poor organization. I never received a line item estimate before repairs, or a line item invoice after the repairs. The invoice I did receive (after asking for one) was simply an old-school carbon copy receipt for the total with a few checks marks on general service categories without sub-totals or even totals on parts, labor, and tax. This makes pricing seem sus. Shop would be better served to provide line item totals to make pricing more transparent.3. Inconvenient hours - 10 am - 4 pm”

“I bought my Specialized levo mountain bike at Encina bicycles shop. They are connected with Clayton bicycle center. Both places are fantastic. The store service people are very friendly and very knowledgeable. I especially want to thank Jeff and Joey. Those guys are awesome and they let me try out different bikes to get a feel first. When you buy a specialized mountain bike they cover the service labor cost. I had my first service done at the Clayton bicycle shop and they did a fantastic job. They go above and beyond to make sure you are taken care of. It was the first ebike I've ever purchased. I have back, neck and knee issues so they guided me to a full suspension e-bike, which was definitely the way to go for me. I can finally get some mobility and freedom, while exercising easier with less pain. Remember to ask if there are any specials going on and you could get a good discount. Also take advantage of the Contra Costa County Ebike rebate on 511.org contra costa county to save some additional money on your ebike purchase.”

“Michael was great in helping to inform my purchase decisions (wheels, tires, and rotor breaks). He also went above and beyond to make sure the bicycle was properly set up with the new equipment and made sure I left the store with information to address any safety concerns. Top notch service!”

“i was an avid biker looking to build a new bike from scratch when a friend suggested i talk to chris at robinson wheel works. chris listened to what i wanted and offered suggestions, generously sharing his time and expertise and suggesting options to research and explore.a few months later, we had picked every component of the bike and he ordered the parts and assembled it for me (including wheels he laced together from rims, spokes, and hubs).seven years later, my dream bike has over 15,000 miles on it, and chris is still helping me keep it in top shape.last week, i reached out to him because on the day before a planned, out-of-town ride i discovered a part had worn out. the next morning, chris went out of his way to get me back up and running, adjusting his workflow and presenting me multiple options to make sure i'd be able to do the ride i had planned.another time last year, he did a routine service of the hubs and discovered that another mechanic had forgotten to include a tiny little spacer when they replaced my cassette (rear gears). this resolved an annoying shifting problem that had been bugging me for months.i share that anecdote because it illustrates an important dynamic: high-end bikes are carefully built, finely tuned machines that need to be built and maintained with mechanical precision. (i'm talking fractions of millimeters and precise torques, here.) do you know what a tensionometer is? if chris is working on your bike, you won't need to; you'll just enjoy a flawless ride.every conversation i've had with chris has demonstrated two things: (1) he loves bikes and knows them better than anyone i've ever met and (2) he takes pleasure in helping others find and experience the absolute joy of being on a great bike.robinson wheel works is a biker's bike shop, and i'm lucky to have found it.many thanks, chris!”
