“This quaint little place is a fantastic way to spend an afternoon. It’s a straight throwback to my childhood with dozens of retro games that I haven’t seen since the 80’s. If you are going to go make sure to bring a friend or parent who loves retro games because you will blow their minds and will absolutely make their day.”

“USS Hornet, a wonderful place to take the family. Young and old can learn about aircraft carriers, the navy and what it feels like to be on a giant ship. There are several exhibitions, including one that details the recovery the apollo 11 astronauts. The Hornet also features a flight simulator that is currently closed. You have a lot of freedom to explore the ship, and you can get lost in time. It is fantastic. One of the best parts of your visit will be the Volunteers. They have many interesting stories to tell. We met a pilot today who flew missions in Vietnam on the A4. A training version of this aircraft (2 seater) is on display.Another interesting exhibition is related to the recovery of the Apollo 11/12 astronauts at sea. The hornet played a major role brining the astronauts home. There are many airplanes, helicopters, bombs and military equipment on display. All include detailed information for you take in. Take advantage of it by planning a visit soon. The prices are reasonable. Adult $20, Student $15 and kids under 12 only pay $10.Another bonus! The flight deck offers amazing views of San Francisco and Oakland. There is ample free parking.”

“Rented the top floor for a Holiday party. It was a great area with a stage and a manned separate bar from the main room. Recommend renting this space for any event.”

“My family and I had my father’s celebration of life ceremony at the Phoenix last week. We are extremely happy with how everything went. The Phoenix staff was super helpful with all of the planning. I worked closely with Ms. Saskia Winter, the founder. We exchanged many emails and she was always responsive and answering all of my questions, which helped a lot. I also visited the venue twice. The staff, (Julie, Artie, and Lakisha) on the day of the event was also super helpful. Things went smooth once the event started. The space was intimate which made it easy for people to connect and mingle. We had food set up and a few decorations. I’m happy we decided to use the Phoenix to remember and honor my father. I highly recommend hosting an event there. You will not be disappointed.”

“We just went on the 4th of July dinner, dance watch fire works cruise on the bay. It was great. We have seen the Cabernet Sauvignon yacht docked in Alameda when we go walking along the shore but never really thought about looking into cruises. We boarded around 6:30 after getting checked in. The bars opened at 6:30 (2nd and 3rd deck) so it seemed like a good first stop upon boarding. Buffet dinner of chicken, hand cut prime rib, sauteed vegetables, salad, lemon rice, and cheese cake started just after 7. I had 2 helpings and cleared my plate both times. Delicious. Back to the bars. Both had beer, wine and spirits. The upstairs bar had the good tequila as well as more premium spirits. Around 9:30 we were in position off the San Francisco waterfront to watch the fireworks. The open top deck was perfect for viewing. It was somewhat clear earlier I the evening but of course the fog rolled in just in time for the festivities. It was still a good show. The DJ was playing tunes all night on the 3rd deck but the dancing really started after the fireworks. The crowd was mixed but everyone was pleasant. The over zealous clean up crew decided to grab our drinks while dancing. The bar crew replaced them even when the bar was technically closed. Huge props to them. Will definitely do this again. Maybe for fleet week when the planes are flying.”

“My daughter was here for summer camp so they were outside but the building itself inside is beautiful! Great for a wedding or other formal even if they host them. (One of the bathroom.doors doesn't close all the way and should be fixed.)”

“Overall, this facility is good for everyone from the most experienced gum buff to an ever so often gym goer. Not sure when all the construction will be done, so thats a bummer, way to noisy some days. The women's locker room could use some updates- in a major way. Replacing fixtures and some repair would go a long way. Still giving BSFC 4 stars because for the monthly price still best bargain for all it's offerings.”

“This place was surprising.Room was huge. It appears that the building was once apartments, and I wound up with what was a large 1 bedroom apartment. Living, dining, kitchen, everything. Nice views and ducks to toss lettuce to from the balcony I had. Fairly priced and great location.”
