The Nail Shop experience depends on who you get. Some staff are friendly and give you a great massage. Some are abrupt with very little massage, even when you’ve made an appointment. I will say that every time my pedicure has looked very good.

Karen has been my favorite for ten years. She does an excellent job and painlessly removes my ingrown toe nails every time.

Kathy is great. She saw something's off and fixed it right away. Three stars because the previous staff gave me scrapes on my fingers when removing the old gel and cuticles trimming were not done thoroughly.One big pro about this place is that they do ombre with gel. All the other places I've been to only do ombre with powder.

My first time getting a manicure, didn't feel the place was great. The box(nail clipping items) the tech was using to clip my nails was not clean, made me wonder about the cleanliness of the place.Told me 20mins of wait, and waited almost an hour. The tech who was doing my manicure was telling me to do something with my hands, since I didn't speak her language, had no idea what she wanted me to do.Seems unprofessional rushed service.I guess that would be my first and last manicure.??

My go-to nail salon in Alameda! Make an appointment or walk-in's are welcome. The space is clean, open, airy and looks out to Park Street. They play nice calm music and the massage chairs are very cozy. Every single person that works here is very friendly and I have only had GREAT experiences. Pricing is in line with other salons and the quality is the best of the best. Give them a try!

I would rate it -10, if I could. I've received services at this shop in the past with no issues, fyi.. services are not cheap. Until I received a gift certificate Christmas 2021 for a Deluxe Medi Pedi to The Nail Shop on Grand Ave., Oakland, CA and upon redeeming certificate I was asked by the shop owner which deluxe and the amount as prices have increased. The information requested was not on the certificate, only an initial by a staff person, and at this time, purchased receipt was not available. This requested information should have been noted on record/file at the shop. Per owner they do not keep such records. I asked how do you account for this type purchase to the IRS... Shop owner had NO RESPONSE!! Although, owner said she would refund me $50 for the gift certificate, I said let me check with the gift giver first to see if they can provide receipt for certificate purchased. On July 14, 2022, I returned w/o receipt, gift giver could not find it, although they said when purchased it was for the deluxe Medi Pedi. The shop owner did not keep her word to the $50 refund as promised, only gave $42 and had a nasty attitude. This type of customer service is shameful by the shop owner and I believe is a huge scam the shop does when customers purchase gift certificate(s) by not providing enough information on the gift certificate or keeping a record. I will never go to The Nail Shop, Oakland, CA again nor refer or recommend to anyone! The owner is a liar and a disgrace to the nail shop industry. No wonder it has a 2.5 rating in Yelp, I should have check the rating & reviews first! Signed Very Disappointed!!

Came with cousins and left unpleased. When arriving we saw a client disputing the prices because the tech cut too much. We thought she was just doing too much and wanted a discount. Then it happened to us and we experienced the same. The staff was unprofessional and rushed. We all got Mani and Pedi. One of us didn't want to finish her pedicure because she didn't want them to mess up her feet like they have done to her hands. All of our cuticles was cut to deep. Like dude, I didn't apply hand sanitizer for a few days because of that. A few of us got gel and it completely came off the following day. When done with you and sees a new client they will rush straight to them but while working on that client will pause and stare really hard waiting for a tip. Like first of all, I respect the hustle (get your money girl) but don't dismiss people like an unwanted used napkin and i'm pretty sure you can wait for your tip by the manger at the end of your staff. If you can't trust them to hold your money, why work there. We gave it to the person in charged, asked her to deal with it, and walked away while they looked and spoke to each other in their native tongue. Like aunts, we didn't have to tip but we understand to always tip someone who have provided a service.Services: Pedicures

I sat and watched everyone else finish before me even though I arrived first. Almost two hours for a manicure and pedicure and I didn't even have time for lotion. This was the last opportunity and I won't be back!

I've been going to this nail salon for over a year. I get the same service every 2 weeks. Gel pedi. I walk in the other day, and I wait to be seated. I sat there for about 15-20 mins and nobody said a word. They all looked at me, but nobody said anything. Okay, I don't have an appointment so I can't complain about the wait. In walks a blonde woman, her friend waves and she proceeds down the aisle to her. The lady asked if she made an appointment, she didn't have one. But I guess her friend being there made things okay. So I then asked them why hadn't I been greeted or anything. *crickets* So I told the lady who came to the front that they know me. The lady who usually does my pedicures kept looking at me, because she knew who I was. I was told "We didn't see you because we are very busy." I explained to her that everyone in the salon f with a purple shirt can provide customer service by saying a simple "Hello, someone will be with you." But instead they said nothing and said they didn't see me, but you saw the blonde lady come in right?! Ohhhh okayyyy! So you can pressure me into tipping for mediocre service when I come, but you can't acknowledge me because you're busy?! These salons are going to learn that we pay their bills and keep their businesses thriving. I'll never go back here, I'll never recommend them to anyone either.

Please don't come here. I wanted to get a mani pedi done at a really short notice and they gladly took me in. They did great when it came to my pedicure but when they did my mani it was the absolute worst! The person who did my nails, was cutting my cuticle very painfully. It felt like they were trying to get it done as quickly as they could rather than actually caring for their paying customer. The person cut me bad and I kept bleeding so much, I didn't even know I was cut until I looked over and saw them wiping my finger over and over again with the towel. I mean the reason I didn't know I was cut was because they was just cutting and pushing my nail back painfully that I was focusing on trying to not think of the pain. It was a terrible experience and I hate how I didn't speak up and I still paid them a tip and I felt as if I was overcharged but I just wanted to get out of there as soon as possible. Also their tools look very unsanitary too! I felt really gross being there because (like I said before) it seems they want to get it over and done with then making you look good and feel good. Also if you look at my pictures. They didn't clean me up food. And if you read other reviews, there is customers saying they were hurt or cut from getting their nails done from this location. SO PLEASE DONT COME HERE!!

I came here today without an appointment to fix my broken acrylic and it got fixed really well! I remember being unsure about coming because my friend got her nails messed up twice here before (extremely lumpy), and mine got the design messed up in the past, but I'm glad I came back. The result really depends on who does the acrylics to be honest. Next time I come, I'll definitely schedule an appointment ahead of time and ask for the same lady so ik I can get good results!
