I believe there was two people working I’m guessing a manager (male) and maybe a assistant manager (female) either way they were both helpful, let me browse without being all on my back and more importantly were very informative. “Calling all herbalists, natural/organic, and bulk nuts, seeds, and teas lovers. The Food Mill is a literal heaven!! Wanna buy organic black beans, Medjool dates, gogi berries, butterscotch chips or dried lavender IN BULK? Come through! Everybody who works there is so helpful and welcoming. Their store-made crunchy peanut butter is also my kryptonite. Parking could use some work, but I usually have no problem snagging street parking. I am a stan.”
“This is the best grocery store in the area. I travel 30 minutes to shop here. Well worth it. Some of the freshest & hugest selection of fruits & vegetables to be found under one roof. The butcher shop in the back of the store is newly remodeled. The butchers are very friendly & helpful with suggestions.”

“I love that we have this store in downtown oakland - easiest my #1 all around grocery store for selection and price. Using sprouts rewards is actually an easy way to get straight up cash back to spend on your groceries, and if you shop sales and use their coupons it’s even better deals. Parking lot experience also way less stress than the competing grocery chains around lake merritt/downtown.”
“Every town should have a Three Stone Hearth!! The bone broth soup is tasty and extremely nourishing. I love the meat one. And the southern style chicken soup. Oh, their carrot ginger soup is great too. Everything is but those are favorites.
I can’t find cheese that tastes better than the one they offer. And the gelatina is oh so good! Especially the hibiscus one.
If your body needs a little boost, it will be so happy if you dropped by here. I buy a few soups and transfer them to smaller mason jars. And then freeze them. That way I always have a healthy meal on hand.

“Layonna's is a vegan gem in the heart of Oakland's Chinatown. Any sort of vegan meat you could think of exists here, although it's all proprietary, not the brands you'd see at major grocery stores. The products are very unique and all incredibly delicious. The photo is of my most recent haul.”

“I had a great time visiting twisted thistle today! Being very into spirituality, healing and mental strength, this store was right up my alley. I had seen a recent review that stated this business was closed for construction, that review was posted yesterday (2/22/25) happy to report the store is open, I immediately noticed the sage being burnt in store, it sets a very nice atmosphere! The selection of the store is plentiful, lots of small-large sets of all the stones and crystals you might expect to find. You can also find tarrot cards, spell weaving books, candles, trinkets, and a variety of sages. What really took me over was the amount of infused consumables! There were drinks, lip balms, gummies pre rolls and even chocolate! All infused with natural herbs for calming/energy. However the real gem of the store has to be Edie! He is very nice and actually seemed to care about the purchase I was making! Overall great experience and will definitely be coming back, shoutout to Edie!!”
“I’m a firm believer in food justice and this market is located in downtown area near schools and multi-residential units which is awesome. It can get spendy but they have specials on fresh produce and it’s accessible to the community. Lots of vegan items and healthier alternatives for everyone! I scored my favorite cookie and strawberries because I learned my lesson yesterday- always bring your own snacks!”
“I live this location in many ways. However I don't know why there is no little variety at the hot bar. I used to pick up lunch or dinner several times a week. But same old meatloaf, samosas mac and cheese gets.old fast. Bring back more dishes please.”

“This Whole Foods bakery is small, but their food items are just as good as the larger Whole Foods bakeries. There’s not really a lot of places to sit and eat, but there is also an outdoor area. My biggest criticism of this bakery is that even though the store is open till nine, it seems like whenever I go around six, most of the baked items are gone, and they’ve stopped putting things out. If you’re there during the day, it’s great.”

I will never buy butter anywhere else again as long as that price stays that way. “It's a good little grocery store. You can pop in here and get some things you need, especially if you're looking for natural foods, organic, vegan type of things. Also if you need some supplements they have a large selection of that. They do not have a large selection of products in general, but they have some different products that may be hard to find other places.”
