Old. Outdated. Lack resources on multiple levels. If you want old materials, lack of innovation, and disengagement, this is the college for you. Look at the empty buildings/classrooms and poor presidential management. The group of students seen during lunch are high schoolers that are using a portion of the campus as their school grounds. If you compare other colleges outside the Peralta district, you'll find better resources, infrastructures and technology to help you grow professionally.

I applied here like 2 months ago and they never even sent a welcome email so I could log in and enroll into classes. Ive tried calling and no one answers. I feel like my life is being ruined because of how i couldve been enrolled in summer classes by now if I had applied somewhere else. Very discouraging but I'll just enroll elsewhere i guess. Hopefully i can start in the summer semester still. If I cant then its this schools fault and my own for thinking that this school would do. It wont and i wont make the mistake again. taught me a lot with out even accepting me. dont settle.

Re: CNA program. Pros: - FREE and only 6 weeks - Great way to jumpstart nursing or medical careers - Clinicals in acute and long-term care facilities - Immediate job offers with clinical sites - Decent amount of in-person simulation practice - Genevieve Dace (program director) is a saint with the biggest heart, best stories, and amazing insight/skill. She is communicative, flexible, and understanding. It is clear she deeply cares about each of her students and wants to see them succeed. Cons: - Not the best preparation for certification exam. I know other CNA schools who drill the skills according to the Red Cross standards; that didn't really happen here. It felt more like an overview and once you passed the program, you were on your own to practice the skills for the test. - Clinical instructors could be problematic. Sometimes my experience with the instructors would be straight out of nursing school horror stories. I felt demeaned and was denied opportunities at times. I was confused by complying with expectations after being spoken to yet still being demeaned. It sucked too because all the instructors were personal nurse friends of the program director. Overall, I have to leave 4 stars because they revived my career future. Now I make double as a CNA compared to what I made before and am in nursing school. It's a pretty new program, so bumps are expected and clinical instructors in nursing programs typically have reputations for being "mean" so meh. It has really helped me financially and throughout nursing school. If you're considering nursing in the future, take the program! (Just keep your head down in clinicals haha)

Quality/Quantity - One of the better city/community colleges! Good college to earn your associate degree. Better yet, a GREAT and affordable way to get into the UC system! Or to just get some certifications. Current promotion: $500 towards Fall of 2022, see their website. Atmosphere - Good size campus, not too big or small. Affordable parking: $2 a day (at least that was the pre-pandemic cost). Service - Good. Last time I was here I was getting a student ID for my daughter. It was simple and affordable. Price - N/A, unless you count parking which is/was very affordable! Owner Comment - Thanks for all you do to promote affordable higher education, trade, cultural, community, etc.

The College of Alameda is a delightful local community college that provides a wonderful educational service to the community. Even as an adult, I occasionally take classes there. The teachers are fairly good. Most have masters in their subject areas, some have PhDs. The price has been rising over the years, but for under $200 you can still take a 3 unit class such as anatomy or psychology. Generally the students are not competitive here. The teachers tend to grade fairly easily. In some classes, as many as 90% of the students may achieve A's. The administration office is staffed by students or recent graduates who are quite unhelpful. The website is difficult to use. It can be easier to just register for classes in person.
