“Best Chorizo you can find , they use real quality meat and not just leftover bits to make it , their al pastor is really good too , that’s what I come here for every week haha”
“Finally went there for the first time today and bought some lamb shoulder chops. They were some of the best lamb chops I’ve ever had. Very fresh and the people were nice. They have a lot of meat and I was happy to give it a try. Very satisfied and we’ll go back.”
“They have so many different types of meats from so many types of animals. It's pretty incredible. From baby octopus to squab, to quail, venison, Bison, chicken, Shrimp, lamb, goat, lobster tail, ox tail and many types of poultry that I've never heard of. Really nicely dressed in butcher's white coat, and I didn't feel rushed. They take courteous time to make sure they've helped you to your satisfaction. I know where to go to get great service and to find unique pieces of meats.”
“Very easy process of ordering and picking up if you're close by ...from the time I placed my order to pickup was a couple of days.Got a pork belly with skin on and a pork butt..haven't cooked the pork butt yet but made lechon with the belly...was excellent. The layer of skin was perfect and free of hairs which was a nice change. Would be great if they had a storefront one of these days...will definitely be ordering again..wagyu ribeye next. Definitely recommend”

“This is the only meat shop I would purchase my meats and hotpot essential. it is very small but don't let that fool you, they have all your needs from thinly sliced meat to bulk size. You just let the butcher know what you want. Their vegetables are always green and leafy, it never disappoints. The best thing, many varieties. There may be a language barrier but if they noticed you have been looking at an item for a while, they just hand you the best looking one. This weekend, I 2 packs of beef brisket and the marble on the beef was gorgeous, along with veggies, tofu and fish cakes. Everything was fresh! Let me just say, it was a delicious feast! It is hotpot season, best to come here for all your hotpot needs!”
“Great people great food, some of the men can be a lil rude but it's not personal. I have come here since I was a child. Big inventory. Ask for something if they don't have it”
“Best butcher shop in Oakland. Whatever you looking for, they got it and the guy will even cut it up for you. If I could give 10 stars I'd double it. They clean their chitlin's, I bought a bucket and checked them when I got home, them sumbitches was clean!”
“Sometimes visiting the International food section at your local grocery store can be so unsatisfying. I always leave knowing there is so much more they aren't showing me.This week I decided I wanted to make tamales for a post Christmas celebration. But I wanted to make everything from scratch. And I knew that Safeway wouldn't provide me with the basics I needed. If you are searching for a clean, friendly well stocked market with everything you need to make beautiful moles, chili verde tacos or the most authentic tamales visit Supermercado Mi Tierra. They have six locations sprinkled throughout the East Bay.”

1576 Hopkins St, Berkeley“Great local butcher with fair prices and good quality chicken and beef. They can cut or order to any specifications you have, and you can pickup the next day, or order ahead of time. They also carry the awesome Fra'mani line of sausage and charcuterie”
“I don't look for goat very often but am making Barbacoa for a special occasion. First, I called around and all of the other shops were unable to source any goat right now, at least those that even bothered to pick up the phone. I called Oakland Halal and they picked up the phone and confirmed they had goat immediately. The shop is small but the butcher behind the counter is awesome. I told him I wanted either a leg or a shoulder. He told me how the different cuts would very and when I told him what I was making we agreed on the leg. He cut it to my exact weight request and informed me that not only was the meat fresh it was local (I think that matters). I was out of there in minutes and with a giant mango on the house! How could you ask for more.”
“Limit of 3 types of deli sandwiches available per day. Turkey sandwich I purchased was good. I wasn't sure if one of the check out stations was open as two young people were lounging in one of them glued to their cell phones.”
“Excellent meat and poultry products from sustainable farms where animals are pasture-raised and treated humanely. In an ideal world. I’d be a vegan; in the real world, I am not and am grateful to Marin Farms for providing best-care animal practices.”
“Nice little shop. I was impressed with the wide variety of imported beverages- so many intriguing flavors! I grabbed some Cadbiry Twirls, and an absolutely fantastic Nestle Baklava bar that was sumptuous. Not overly sweet and it had beautiful crunch from the phyllo and chopped pistachios. I'm scheming a return for some of the halal butcher counter offerings and some of the middle eastern breads on offer.”
