i adopted a kitten and took him for his free examination (had a voucher from shelter), as they were the only local vet to accept it. the ladies at the front were very sweet and informative for the most part. the female vet on the other hand, she has a very strange demeanor about her. she was very insistent on the fact that there was something wrong with my kitten and that he looks extremely underweight than compared to photos on my phone that i showed her of when i found him a week ago. come to find out when they weighed him, the difference was .1 lbs. he was 1.7lbs at the shelter and 1.6 lbs at the clinic. now does that seems like a concerning weight difference? the vet made it seem like he was extremely underweight trying to push her $500 treatment plan. she wasn't very informative, just felt like she was not being genuine with her concern for the cat, and more so wanted to pull on your heart strings to make you feel obligated to pay their overpriced pricing. i paid for what i absolutely needed to, just to make sure my baby was okay, even asked them to trim his claws and show me how so i could do it myself in the future. now this is what solidified my disgust with the clinic, while showing me how to clip my kittens claws....the tech cut and made my kitten bleed twice. if he was wiggling around and giving her a hard time, i would understand....but he was such a cooperative little boy....it was more so negligence on their end. in this moment i realized they don't genuinely care about the well being of your pet, more so the money they can take from you. with this being said, i will be looking for a more compassionate primary vet for my kitten.

We brought our youngest Guinea pig to Dr.Capper for a bladder stone removal surgery and all I can say is , I can see why he is so widely recommended within the Guinea pig community! Our pets mean the world to us and when we found out our Guinea had a large stone causing him tremendous pain we extensively researched who could take on this risky procedure on our smallest little fur-baby. Took my dog for a passport, ear section in the right ear. I was given a paper of what the cost was going to be before treatment to sign. When I went to pay it was $120 more than the paper I signed. They finally did adjust it. They said it was their fault. I'm just glad I noticed it. They weren't paying attention to what the medication wise. I was given the eardrops. I was told be sure it's for the left ear. I told him it's the right year. The lady looked at it and said it says left. I told her that's the right ear. she went and checked. It was printed wrong. This place does not concentrate of what they are doing. My dog could have had a major infection if I didn't read it. I will not recommend this business.

We had 7 pups, 5 passed away but they lived to 17 years which means we have been a client for that long. We now have 2 new pups which we have taken there the last 2 years. When you have been a client for this long and you call to make an appointment and they tell you. " We are fully book and maybe you should look around for a vet who has an opening" It sort of breaks your heart a little bit. This would be the third time they say that to me and I let the last two go by, but the third time was the charm for me especially with the tone I was given on that morning. Sadly I am moving away and taking their advice " LOOK FOR ANOTHER VET"

We love Agoura Animal Clinic! We have taken all of our dogs there for 20+ years and the sincere level of caring we experienced is unmatched! Dr. Silverman is a wonderful human and spends time with each patient/owner. We will always look to Agoura Animal Clinic for our pet care! Thank you for being so kind!

I've never had a vet who was so incredible with communication. I had a bit of a nightmare needing to take my dogs overseas and the Agoura Animal Clinic helped me through every single hurdle. They were so patient too and super responsive and their staff was really kind. I was very impressed!

My red ear yellow bellied hybrid slider unfortunately had a vitamin A deficiency which caused some issues with her eyes. The office was very kind, professional and they knew how to treat my turtle. Really appreciate the vets honest opinion and I'm happy to report that my turtle is getting better and her eyes are no longer swollen. Hopefully I don't have any issues with the rest of my reptiles but unfortunately if I do I know where to go thanks again!

We have been going to Agoura Animal Clinic for the past 35 years. This is the only veterinary office we entrusted with our four legged children. The doctors, tech's and office staff are outstanding. They are like family to us. Dr, Capper and Dr. Silverman were dedicated to the health and support of our multiple four legged children, dogs. They were loving, caring, kind and compassionate at all times. Whenever we needed to take our dogs to see them, they would get on the floor of the exam room with our pups, and do the entire exam sitting on the floor. Over the years, as our children grew old and it was time to say good-bye, we all cried together. We had Mocha, a German Short hair Pointer, Tessie, a Border Collie/Chesapeake Bay Mix, Jack and Jill, siblings, French Mastiffs, and just recently lost Hannah (July 7th) and Harley (September 13th), siblings, Bull Mastiffs. When the mastiffs were puppies, during a vet check, for both Jack and Jill and Hannah and Harley we asked why do you carry them around. Their response was that they had to carry them around now and love them up because in a few months they would be too big to carry. This was a true attribute to how much they care about their four legged clients. We felt their costs for services were fair. They did not perform surgeries or treatments that were unnecessary. Any type of surgery or treatments that our kids needed were done professionally and to help support their health and life. We have decided at this time in our lives that we are not going to get new pups. But when we do, we will definitely be back to re-join our Agoura Animal Clinic family. We already miss not seeing Dr. Capper, Dr. Silverman, the tech's and office staff.

This is the only vet office I trust in at least a 60 mile radius (except for Emergancy I also trust VSEC In Thousand Oaks). I recently tried other vet offices closer to my home and I regret it. This office has never let me down. They are the most organized and caring office. I've worked in the vet field for 8 years all over Southern California and this office blows them all out of the water. They are professional and compassionate and I wouldn't trust anyone else with my loved ones. They can be a little pricey but I guarantee they aren't over charging to get your money for no reason it's simply because it is expensive to run diagnostics and these doctors have gone to medical school just like human doctors and unfortunately we see the cost instead of insurance seeing it. I recently put my pet rat down here and I was heartbroken. The office staff was so caring and compassionate and assured me my little guy was snuggled and loved until the very end. They truly care about every animal that walks through their doors and they do their absolute best to keep communication smooth and timely. Truly the best office. I will be returning with my loved ones because the hour drive is worth it. I love this place and trust them whole heartedly.

Honestly, I cannot recommend a veterinarian higher than Dir. Capper at Agoura Hills Veterinary Clinic. My daughter has a bunny rabbit that was diagnosed by Canejo Valley Veterinary with a large uterine mass. Dir. Capper, who was recommended by Vicky Aderholt, founder and operator of adopt a Bunny Rabbit.org, and so I took our bunny to Canejo Valley. They were very good and kind, but told me that the bunny would need to be euthanized due to the size of the mass. Keeping her comfortable was the goal.. It was after hours and they were quite expensive. Heartbroken, I went for a second opinion to dir. Capper at Agoura Hills who has performed near miracles with Vicky's bunnies in the past. Dr Capper affirmed that the mass was extremely large and the=at the chances of surviving surgery were minimal. I accepted this and vowed for palliative care. Vicky Aderholt, however, convinced me of the near miracles that Dr Capper had performed in the past on bunnies and I scheduled surgery. The cost was not the issue, although Dr Capper was sensitive to not wanting to take thousand of dollars for a poor outcome. I am a registered nurse and only wish that medical doctors were this ethical. With foreknowledge that the mass could be adhered and or vascular, we proceeded with the surgical plan. Dr Capper was hesitant knowing that if the mass was adhered or vascular, the bunny would not survive the operation. After Vicky's testimony and a lot of prayer, I assured Dr Capper that with prayer and his skill, we were confident in al]t east trying to save her. After much prayer, our bunny not only survived but also is thriving and restored to perfect health Thanks be to God Almighty and the entire team at Agoura Hills Veterinary. The staff called daily, and then weekly to check in on our bunny Nutmeg. Dr Capper called personally and sent photo of the 8-inch humor that he removed from the bunny. Nothing short of a miracle and amazing skill on the part of Dr Capper. The staff was exceptionally compassionate and courteous. Additionally, Agoura Hills Veterinary was not exorbitant price wise, especially considering the fragility of the creature and the work and care involved.

I have to say I've had disappointing experiences here. Mostly with the receptionists, who seem to be very short, snappy, and quite frankly, rude. Maybe they are overworked and overloaded due to Covid, but this is no excuse. The actual Doctor is nice, and gets back to his patients quickly with answers, but when you're worried about the well-being of your pet, the people that answer the phone make a huge difference in your impression on how much they actually care for you. Unfortunately some of my experiences include: 1) Receptionists telling me they will withhold meds my pet needs until more expensive tests were run. 2) having me order the max amount of tests possible, without offering me a cheaper option in order of importance. Sure, you can ask for less tests if you have the wherewithal when you're in the midst of your pets crisis, but I feel it's significantly more fair to (for example) only order bloodwork on thyroid levels if that's what the doctor thinks is the issue,. ...versus ordering x-rays and urinalysis and the full around the world bloodwork panel (which seemed like a massive overkill for a Doctor very much expecting a thyroid issue). Also: for the record, I had had x-rays done a couple months prior that were normal, so that shouldn't have been a top priority in my opinion given the Dr's hunch it was thyroid related. 3) on one occasion the receptionist was frustrated with the questions I was asking and hung up on me 4) on another occasion, I was quoted for $134 at checkout only to get a bill for over $450! I eventually got it back down after questioning it and having them agree to run only the necessary tests, but it seems they either quote the minimum to get you in and then charge the max under the phrase "it was just a quote" or the receptionists really don't know what's going on. Either way, doesn't leave the best taste in your mouth. 5) And lastly, the straw that broke the camels back, was when they knew my pet was deteriorating quickly and was down to just 4 lbs, they offered me a time slot 2 weeks out to get a treatment necessary to fix her. My pet won't even be ALIVE in 2 weeks if I can't see the Dr sooner! Thankfully the Doctor called me back after I read the receptionists the riot act with their insensitive behavior. The Dr then moved me up in the schedule and even apologized for their behavior, admitting they were overworked and understaffed due to Covid and that the receptionist didn't know she could squeeze time Sensitive patients in sooner. All this said, I am still willing to give them another chance to help ... I just haven't personally had the greatest experiences. I could be wrong but in my experience, at least on the receptionist side, they seem to be more about the money, billing what they can and playing on your love and worry for your pet in the moment. They have misquoted me on both treatments and scheduling, and have been sometimes very rude in the process, which left a bad taste. ... I like the Doctor though, so I'm still hoping for a better future experience to come.

Update as of February 7, 2021: Banana is doing great. He's more active and hungry than I've ever seen him. As I said in my previous review, I highly recommend anyone with reptiles (or any other pets) to see Dr. Capper. We will be coming back here in the future for any needs we may have.

Not so much. Very, very rude staff. They are doing you a favor by being open, especially Nancy. She is incredibly rude. Very expense for the poor service. There are many other vets in the area that offer better service with kinder staff. This vet should look at his staff given they are the face of his company. The lady vets are a bit rude too though.
