While for the most part the staff and pharmacists are friendly and helpful, my last in-person experience was mildly frustrating and uncomfortable.
Despite the College of Pharmacists of BC statement about receiving care that's "free from prejudice and discrimination, respecting the needs of Indigenous...communities" when I went to fill my first prescription at the pharmacy, the first pharmacist's attitude noticeably changed when I said that I also have FNHA (NIHB/Status) coverage. Even after telling her that, she didn't apply it and tried to charge me for my prescription. I had to speak with another pharmacist there to have my coverage confirmed. While the second pharmacist was kind and apologetic, I shouldn't have had to argue for the pharmacy to acknowledge and accept my coverage as an Indigenous person. It made me feel uncomfortable having to explain it three times in front of the whole store.

I cannot say enough good things about this pharmacy. I work next door to them and initially started going there out of convenience. I can easily say if I moved far away I would still come here.
They have; seen me after hours for a uti infection when I’d been chasing my telemedicine clinic for days for a lost antibiotic prescription. Got my son in quick for a tetanus shot after getting attacked by a crow ? and even given me advice for my partner’s T injections despite my partner not being a client at the time. (We had gotten a complete lack of any info at the Walmart pharmacy for a first time user, terrifying… needless to say I have moved my partner here!).
They are also very trans positive and take care using chosen names for both my son and partner.
In a world where customer service, care and accountability seem a thing of the past, I am always met with all of the above and more at heart pharmacy. ❤️

I had an outstanding experience with Amelia at the pharmacy. She went above and beyond to help me, getting up to find the medicine I needed and taking the time to explain everything thoroughly. Amelia even consulted with a colleague to ensure I was getting the best option for my situation. Her dedication and care were truly impressive. I couldn’t have asked for better service. She was amazing ?

Aug. 22 update: I received a call from the pharmacist yesterday--the day after this unfortunate exchange--and had a great talk about what happened. What impressed me most was that I saw the pharmacy had called twice and I missed the calls....When I called to refill a prescription, the pharmacist remembered my name and asked if we could talk. This is the great level of care and service I am used to from Heart Pharmacy. It is very much appreciated, especially at a time when one's health is suffering and could use some care and empathy. Thanks very much for the follow-up Heart Pharmacy.
Unusually curt service today at Heart Pharmacy in Shelbourne Plaza. Dropped a prescription off after being discharged from hospital—in rough shape. Was told to come back in 30 minutes. Came back and said I had 3 scripts. The woman asked, “Did you just drop them off?” And I tried to explain I was told to come back and I was back. She turned and looked behind her, interrupted me and told me to sit down. An assistant tried to tell her some about my scripts and she turned back to me, seeming to disregard what she said, and curtly said, “Sit down.” Very unusual for this pharmacy. Disappointe and surprised.

I recently transferred my prescriptions to Heart Pharmacy Shelbourne from a big box store that I had been using for 15 years. I am blown away by how friendly, helpful, and genuinely caring this team is. I’ve gone from a pharmacy that barely even answers their phone to a pharmacy that is attentive and clearly focused on patient care. I am so grateful to have these folks helping me out. Can’t recommend them enough!

Andrea and her team are highly skilled and the service is beyond excellent. I refilled two scripts online last night, it was delivered today, I received an informative phone call. This is the best service I have ever received from any pharmacy in my lifetime.

conveniently-located pharmacy (on routes 27/28) and one of the few independent pharmacies that's both open on saturdays and open until 18h. plus, the staff are exceptionally friendly and regularly go out of their way for clients.i'm quite happy to say that i've consistently had great experiences with heart pharmacy and i can't recommend them enough for anyone looking for a reliable, local option!

The staff did not hesitate to place an emergent refill order when I called 15 minutes before the closure time. And they ran overtime after the closure to prepare the order. Thank you so much for your kindness, support and flexibility!

The person working at the pharmacy yesterday was acting grumpy and rude. I asked simple questions and was made to feel like a bother. I will not be back for sure. Much better customer service at other IDA pharmacies around town!
