For 3 years now I've been sleeping on a Fawcett mattress, and I now feel qualified to tell you: it is very probably the best mattress ever made by human hands. It's like if a cloud had a dream about sleeping on a really supportive marshmallow and woke up to find that it was true. It's like if the Sistine Chapel was nine inches tall and you could take naps on it. On more than one occasion, I have woken up in the morning and thought, "Man, that is the best night's sleep I have ever had in my entire life," and until I owned this mattress I had no idea that that was a thing that a person might think. My sister took a nap on it one time and now she owns a Fawcett mattress. My in-laws slept on it for a week and started researching how to ship a mattress to Europe. After three years it has no sagging, hammocking, creaking, gloinging springs, nothing - it's still the same fresh-faced mattress beauty queen it was on Day One. If I ever became a billionaire, the very first thing I would do would be to buy one of these mattresses for everyone on Planet Earth. Of all the philanthropic options available that probably seems like kind of a weird choice but I really think that it would work: after the first night of truly good sleep everyone on the planet has ever had, all at once, humankind would awake feeling relaxed, recharged, refreshed, kinder. Our collective brain fog would lift. Peace would reign. We'd all be as smart as Einstein and would eliminate climate change. The previously-crotchety, Scrooge McDuck 1% would get off their dragon's hoards and end hunger, homelessness, and inequality. The sun would shine on new age of enlightenment. Be the change you want to see in the world. Buy this mattress.
2024 update: I had to edit my review to reflect the fact that 2019's era-defining genius has, five years later, turned out to be.... disappointing. The mattress, by contrast, is still A++.

Excellent experience buying a mattress at Fawcett. We we able to adjust the firmness of the mattress and topper for both sides of the bed, which has been a great for our individual preferences. Highly recommend the Cumberland Mattress for back support. The fact that these mattresses are locally made, and made from sustainable material is a huge plus.

Having read the reviews here before purchasing a mattress myself, I just wanted to share my experience. I purchased a Model 6 just under a year ago. Similar to some other reviewers, I found the mattress noticeably firmer than the one in the showroom, despite using a similar style of frame. I eventually contacted Fawcett and paid additional money for a (discounted) topper, which corrected the issue. The mattress itself is well constructed, so no issues there. Instead, the reason I wanted to leave a review was two separate experiences dealing with customer service that left me wondering if I had ordered from the same company described in all these reviews.
First, when I purchased the mattress last August there were significant delays due to the port strike in Vancouver. Obviously, that's no fault of Fawcett's, but I found the communication around the expected delivery date very frustrating. After the original estimated date passed, I had to contact the company by email and phone several times for any updates. While they couldn't provide much information at the time (again, understandable given the situation), each time they would promise to call back with an update in X number of days and never once actually did so. All told it took over a month for the mattress to be delivered. I would have written that off as a one-time thing and not thought much of it, had I not had a similar experience over the past few weeks.
The second experience occurred after I moved my mattress to a new place and discovered a significant amount of mildew on the bottom. As per the warranty requirements, I had purchased a waterproof mattress protector (not from Fawcett directly), which appears to have been the source of the issue. When I purchased the mattress they did mention that the materials are more susceptible to mold than others; however, there were no other issues with mildew or mold in the place I was living, and the mattress was set up on a slatted frame (according to the website, "almost any frame" should work with this model). I noticed it when I removed the cover to wash after moving, and contacted Fawcett the next day that they were open to get advice and explore options. According to them this was a very unusual situation and it would not be covered under the warranty, meaning I would cover the repair (replacing the bottom panel of the mattress) on my end. Despite promising to send a quote shortly, I had still not received it two days later and after calling to inquire, finally received it the following morning. I was told I needed to pay up front in order to schedule a day for the repair, which would come to ~$450, including $75 each way to transport the mattress to and from their workshop. Since it had already been almost a week since finding the mildew, I paid right away hoping to schedule the repair ASAP. I was told to expect a call early the following week to schedule a day. This time, it took over a week to hear back, despite emailing twice. It was only after sending the second email asking for a refund of the repair costs that I received a reply, indicating the staff member I had been dealing with was out of the office for the remainder of the week but would contact me first thing Monday morning. I finally received a call on Tuesday, at which point I requested my money back and went to purchase a new mattress elsewhere (which in hindsight, I should have just done two weeks earlier to save myself the hassle). Each time I spoke with someone, I was given a variety of reasons for the delay (the store is extremely busy, there's a long backlog of orders, pushback from the mattress builders on doing the repair, etc.), however, I'm still a little unclear on why they kept promising specific dates and timelines and failing to meet them.
All told, I really wanted to like my mattress and love the idea of buying a locally-made product with more sustainable materials. However, less than a year later my $1400 mattress is destined for the dump and after

Purchased a Model 2 Mattress - Double / Medium / Extra Firm. Made two visits to the Victoria store before making up my mind. Bart gets stars for his guidance, patience & kindness; and everyone deserves stars for getting the mattress to me in good time. The borrowed bed is gone, thanks to the delivery team. My back pain is gone now too.
It did take some time to adapt to this mattress. I use a wool topper (that I already had) for better temperature regulation. At one month I can report that I'm very happy with my purchase - from a Canadian company, locally made, and was able to shop in person.
Yesterday I stopped in to arrange for a down duvet to be sent as a gift to Toronto. When the weather turns warm I'll take a look at their cotton sheets, and maaaaybe I can also justify getting a new pillow...

Fawcett's customer service is unmatched. I had purchased a Fawcett mattress and was beyond the 100 day 'comfort exchange', but was still having issues with my mattress. I went to the shop and told Duane what was bothering me. He worked with me to have my mattress assessed and adjusted to my preferred firmness, and at a very reasonable cost. Thank you, Duane and Fawcett! We can't recommend this local brand enough.

Great company, amazing mattress. We ordered the Sombrio and had them make it a little firmer. It suites me and wife perfectly. It feels like I’m not sleeping on anything it’s so neutral and supportive. I also very much appreciate that the mattress does not run hot at all. I don’t know why we didn’t make the switch away from hot memory foam sooner. Super happy with the mattress!

The organic cotton sheet set and the kouchini wool mattress protector are hands down the best sleep Accessories I've ever purchased. Not only do I sleep on a comfortable and high quality organic latex mattress from Fawcett, but having a complete sleep system absolutely changes the game. Excellent service from the delivery team - shout out to Ethan for all his help.
