Opulent, traditional, elegant and oh-so-British. The Fairmont brand of hotels is synonymous with luxury and this hotel is no exception. The store at the Fairmont is not to be missed and neither is afternoon tea.

The hotel is impressive as is the gift shops. I bought tea and a lapel pin boasting the hotel. Their vast array of tea is impressive and the staff were very helpful and friendly. I recommend people visit this store whether visiting Victoria for the day or even staying at the hotel.

Tried to buy a souvenir tin for $30, would have been a great experience but they have a garbage store policy about not taking $100 bills for no other reason than they can’t be bothered to keep change on hand.That’s not my problem, that’s a you problem. Congratulations on putting a downer on the weekend experience at the Empress. What a horrible way to end our stay.
