This is one of the most amazingly authentic places. I haven't been to the new location but the old Hillside site was full of overcrammed goodness

Crowded and cramped but with more middle Eastern groceries than anywhere else in Victoria and good prices. Watch the parking lot though.

The former store on Hillside was left in a Dirty chaotic Mess for the landlord to clean up . . Disrespectful to the neighbourhood and neighbours. As an older woman I felt very disrespected . Such rudeness . Shameful behavior and not at all acceptable . And not trustworthy as to weights and prices as another review has said . It was always messy and dirty outside there , if you see the dirt left inside you will know the food was stored in it too. Do not shop here if you care about your neighbourhood ! Don’t be fooled ! Bad ethics and values entirely ….it will only get worse you know .

A unassuming storefront on Hillside is a great Oasis!I went into here, and was floored! Chicken curry Indomie (I'm an indomie addict)!Spicy Chicken Wendy's Pringles!Fulls size Pita, bigger than regular, and performance perfect for meatballs or falafel!!!!The owner has a efficient, clean, and frankly charming store. He's kind, helpful, and friendly. The kind of variety that has Olive bar, fresh cheeses, and BAKLAVA!Will be back! Truly,a time to shop local;bring the bags???

A fun shop to explore. Lots of great middle eastern product with very competitive pricing. I like their feta, spices and fresh butchered meats.

I understand some of the grief people experience here but I also think the shop is genuinely trying to improve the chaos inside. A lot of products are not priced but the prices are pretty fair. I haven’t had issues refunding something I thought was overpriced. I feel like management may have changed of late because the shop is changing.Give it a try. I don’t think I’d buy meat here but I’m pretty picky on meat. The Palestinian olive oil is great and very well priced for its quality. The tahini is 30% cheaper than other shops.Like anything, it depends what you’re buying. Look at expiration dates and give it a try. Compared to some other Middle Eastern shops the prices are good.

I wish I could rate this store less than one star. We purchased several items that were originally bagged by owner. The chick peas were hard as a rock. The peanuts were stale. The bags were unpriced. Many of the items on the shelves were unpriced and we had to constantly check with him.We ended up returning some items for credit. Shameful!

I thought they would be true in price and quality but I found them selling the meat as really low standard. They always lie abt the meat. Gave me bad meat twice, once I was given the Lamb meat in goat price and the guy was lying. These are all LIARSSHAME

Easily the best store for middle Eastern food, groceries, spices, and ingredients on the entire island. Prices are unbeatable as well.

Damascus is such a great place to shop for a wide variety of Middle Eastern foods. They have wonderful inexpensive white basmati rice, an excellent selection of olives and the best tasting olive oil that comes from Syria and costs less than $30 for a refill of a 3 litre bottle. Leg and shoulder of lamb at a very reasonable price which they will cut up into stewing meat if requested.Easy location to get to, next to the Soap Exchange
