Maybe if they treated and paid their workers fairly and could properly budget for business expenses including the rising cost of labour. Until then, I won't be shopping here again. Terrible management, great workers, great craft beer.

Prompting for tips, for a cashier that does nothing but beep ypur wine and press the credit button, it's not something I deem worthy of a tip. All this does is make your employees resent customers who don't tip and pressure customers to tip even though they might disagree. The first time I tipped and was thanked for my purchase. The second time I did not and got a dirty look from the cashier after I said thank you and have a nice day. You see how this doesn't work???
EDIT 2024-05-05 I quote from another review "I want to assure you that our decision to introduce a tipping option was not intended to substitute a fair wage for our employees, but merely as an optional method for our customers to express their appreciation for the exceptional service received if they so choose. Our employees receive competitive wages, and we continually strive to ensure that they are fairly compensated for their efforts."
THEN WHY ARE ALL THE CASCADIA LIQUOR STORE EMPLOYEES ON STRIKE?????

Me (34 M) and my brother (50) came in so he could buy some wine for a family dinner. Because I was with him the grouchy cashier asked for ID despite the fact that I am obviously over the age of 30. I am balding, badly, and have a giant handlebar moustache complete with waxed tips... Read your clients a little better and maybe try being friendly? Was pretty absurd. Neither of us will be going back. But hey with prices that high and a selection that good, they don't need us! Thanks for the compliment though! :)I should add every other employee we interacted with while in the store was extremely friendly and helpful.

They now have a tip option which now makes shopping here uncomfortable. Why would anyone tip for you to cash them out? I won’t shop here again.

The staff were very friendly. I found the store to have a good and diverse selection of products. Some really neat local (BC) products, too. Accessible store. The debit/credit machine prompts for a tip, which did throw me off.

Good selection of whiskey and bourbon. They had all the classics like Buffalo trace, EC, makers mark, Jack Daniels, and four roses. Staff was also friendly which is a plus.

Great selection of all adult beverages. Beer selection is awesome, wine selection is great and they carry all the ciders premixed drinks and hard liquor you could ever want. Customer service staff are very friendly and happy to help. Preventing my review from being a 5 star review is the dreaded tip option on the card authorization machine. I do not appreciate your company or staff asking for the consumer to top off the wages your company should be paying their staff. If I go yo victoria general do I tip the anesthesiologist, porter who wheels me into the room or even the doctor. No it's their job. I am in retail and consult on customers auto needs do I stick out my palm after helping them. No. It's my job. If I don't do it well I won't last in my position. Quit pushing the line on what is or is expected from the poor consumers who are stretched to the limit all ready.

One of the best beer selections in Victoria. Staff knows everything about beer in here and their selection keeps getting better and better.Wine selection is good as well. Probably not the best on the island, but real good anyway.I’m not fan that they “ask” tipping on check out.I understand it is totally up to you, do you tip or not, but at the same time it makes me feel bad every time if I don’t tip.A lot of the times staff cancel this option automatically anyway, so you don’t even see it, but it should not be necessary.In my opinion, staff in here are so good that they should get paid enough with out asking tip for them.I don’t tip in Quality Foods or Home Depot, should not be any different in here.Staff is always super friendly and knowledgeable.

Good liquor store!Edit: Oct 21, 2023 -Still a great liquor store, but I really don't enjoy the tipping prompt for a self serve liquor store. Yes, you have staff that's is knowledgeable, but at the same time I don't tip at Home Depot or London Drugs, that's just called customer service. I heard you added the tip to substitute a wage increase from your own employee. Just pay your guys more instead. Seeing the tip on the debit machine is embarrassing for your staff, and your stores. (their words not mine).
