Strathford is the worst insurance company. Nothing but crooks. Got into an accident 1 year ago and the accident wasn't even my fault and I have to pay for some damages on my car that was part of the accident. Not only that but took them 1 year to sort things out and get my car repaired. With 2 decades of driving, getting into 2 accidents that wasn't my fault, and 1 hit and run claim never once in my life did I pay for repair for my car cause of an accident that wasn't my fault. I never though an insurance would deny a claim of an accident until I went with strathford. I thought the purpose of the insurance is to give you a peace of mind while driving on the road specially for drivers with excellent records. If you're thinking of going with this insurance company trust me that $100 you're saving in a year is not worth it. Just go with ICBC. Atleast they paid for the damages on my car when I got hit and run.Another thing with this insurance company even though I'm no longer with them, even though I didn't reply to their email about the renewal of insurance and stating on the email if I don't respond or call strathford they will not insurance my car. "Great my car is no longer insured by steathford". So strathford cut my insurance I went back with ICBC and guess what... strathford still charged me for the month of October even though my car is no longer insured with strathford. I had to call my broker to get it sorted out cause I do not want to deal with this horrible insurance company anymore. Yea I saved $200 with them for 2 years but that $200 went towards the repair of my car and a charge for October 2023 when my policy with them ended September 15th 2023. I wouldn't be surprised if they charge me for the month of November as well.Strathford will only make you want to go back with ICBC so might as well just stick with ICBC.

It's the first time I had to deal with comprehensive insurance and I was surprised by how smooth all was handled. There have been no issues at all. It was all handled within short time and I'm really happy I had signed up with Stratford for my comprehensive insurance

Beware. The dealership that had an insurance company in the dealership recommended Statford over icbc to save me money. Probably is when I had a truck on the highway spill over rocks debris onto my car for not having a bed liner on.. I was not insured and was asked to pay half costs ..this should go to consumer affairs and on the news to be wary of these insurance companies

Dealing with a vehicle accident is never easy. After dealing with 3 different insurance companies for my claim, I can tell you Stratford was the easiest. From the initial phone calls to the payout, it was fairly smooth for a total loss. I appreciated how there is a main adjuster you deal with throughout the process but when you call in there are other adjusters available to help with minor questions/concerns/updates. Phone wait times were minimal. Payouts were fair and paid in a timely manor.

Was pleased with their rates last year for excess liability, collision, and comprehensive. This year, they send my renewal offer and have increased the premium by 50%!!! No change in my vehicle, my vehicle use, nor my driving record. The explanation they gave: "the cost of repairing electric vehicles is very high, therefore they had to increase the rates"! I do not drive an electric vehicle nor do I want to pay extra because others have bought into the electric-vehicle scam. Life in Commie Canada just keeps getting better and better.

Legitimately the worst insurance experience of my life. Car was in an accident, hit by a lady who ran a red light and car was deemed a total loss, so I was offered a settlement payout that was significantly less than the market value. Fought with them for 2 weeks to justify a more fair evaluation providing current for-sale examples and explaining the simple economics of supply and demand. I outlined to the adjuster Adrian the payout they offered was $5-6k less than a similar vehicle for the same year and mileage... And that is not accounting for the 12% sales tax on top!!!! Each time they said they would take another look and re-evaluate. Turns out they did nothing each time and stuck to their first offer. It was so horrid I requested they fix the car and I was ok to have re-built status on the car. They refused several times. Furthermore, they decreased their offer by 12% after the fact because I am a GST registrant, so I had to fight hard to keep the PST portion that has nothing to do with being a GST registrant. They straight up tried to rob me even more!! When I questioned their evaluation process and why they would not budge or pay out the tax portion, the manager Aisling told me it's their company policy not to. When I asked for her to send me the company policy in writing or substantiate it somehow, she would always deflect and only provide me with a link to FAQs at ICBC which had nothing to do with my question or even their own company. They are straight up crooks and liars! In the end, I just accepted their settlement offer as they were just wasting my time and causing too much stress and sleepless nights for me.Because it has been such a horrid and stressful situation I contacted ICBC several times for guidance with the situation as the injury/treatment part of my claim was handled by them including the coverage of the person at fault. They were actually extremely helpful and transparent with their policies to me and let me know if I was dealing with them what I could expect which was night and day from Stratford. What ICBC would have offered would have been more fair. The kicker is, what I had asked Stratford regarding certain policies and Stratford saying ICBC is the same is a complete lie because ICBC verified with me otherwise.Reading some of the other reviews, at least other people were given better settlements then me or at least had their settlements adjusted. I will have to purchase another car that is older, higher mileage, lower tier and brand car as purchasing a similar car to my previous one would cost me $10k out of pocket for an accident I didn't commit. What a joke! I worked hard to purchase that car 3 years ago, now having to settle for something less. Insurance is supposed to help get you back to where you were before the accident or at least mitigate your losses as much as possible. Stratford has done neither and only made things way worse than before.Needless to say I'm quite upset and disappointed with the lack of professionalism and straight-up deceit from this company. Must be nice to work for a company where you can be completely incompetent, abuse your power and screw over others with no accountability whatsoever.I will NOT recommend to anyone to purchase a policy from Stratford. Don't listen to the insurance brokers when they push this alternative to ICBC, they are paid a large commission to sell Stratford policies and it isn't worth saving a couple hundred a year to be screwed over in the event your car is a total loss.Hope these reviews help people steer clear of this joke of an insurance company.

Buyer beware. If you need to use this insurance policy for your car you will have very limited options and forced to use the auto body shop of their choice, not yours. Even if the accident is not your fault you could face additional costs and lengthy delays if you want your car fixed to a standard you agree to. If I could do it over again I would never purchase insurance though them. Do yourself a favor and avoid at all costs.

Poor communication-slow service. 4.5 weeks post accident to receive an evaluation. Evaluation is far below comparable vehicles. Stick to ICBC

I would give this agency 0 stars if I could. My spouse was expected a cheque in the mail for weeks now and we had to go out of our way to contact the agency when it had been quite some time. The agent on the phone was quite rude and was reluctant to provide us a solution since we were needing the cheque to secure our next vehicle. When we offered to pick up the cheque in person and come out of our way to pick up the issued cheque we were met with resistance and given the run around by a couple of reps.. To top it off we told them we'd go out of our way to come all the way to Downtown Vancouver to pick up the cheque and were given a short window to do so. New Cheque was issued and picked up ONLY to realize that the agency failed to provide us a certified cheque knowing that this was a time sensitive issue and now we're out of a vehicle we had secured privately. 0 for professionalism and 0 for industry standard. Besides that they decided to issue a cheque without proper security protocols and without a tracking number. When speaking to a Canada Post representative they told me they've never heard of this practice and were quite baffled on the carelessness of the insurance agency. AVOID AT ALL COST!!!

Probably the most crooked insurance company I’ve ever dealt with. My partner still is owed almost $100 after canceling his policy with them and they have “no record” all of his insurance profile, and appear to not communicate with ICBC at all.Second of all, my experience with Adrien and a few other brokers was probably the worst I’ve ever had after dealing with a stressful hail claim. I basically had to do their job for them, and on one occasion I was on the phone for over 8hrs trying to get my claim solved. They promised me a complimentary rental vehicle as compensation for their multiple blunders and customer service failures, but then retracted that offer a few minutes later and I was given no compensation.ICBC does not communicate with Stratford either, just an FYI. So you basically need to do everything twice. If you don’t, one may continue to charge you after you cancel your policy, and the refund process is a nightmare.Icing on the cake, they mailed me a cheque a few weeks later, and a follow up letter a few months later, describing that the money was an “Error” and were requesting it back. So even when you think you’re done with them, you’re not. I’ve requested a letter in writing now as to what that error even was, and the customer service rep had no information for me and quickly became defensive (which I now understand is typical of Stratford).I’m so fed up, please don’t use this company if you need insurance. I’m repulsed and disgusted with the entire process.

I was in a motor vehicle accident that resulted in my vehicle being a total loss on Aug 21. Stratford offered me a settlement that was $5000 less than the closest similar vehicle, a year older than mine too. When I refused the settlement and asked to see the calculations I was ignored for a week. Then instead of sending me the calculations I was told to send in the info from the cars in my research. I did, and waited another week before I was emailed back and told NO adjustments would be made. For the second time I asked to see the math to better understand, once again I wasn't sent the calculations but was miraculously offered $1800 more. Now for the third time I asked to see the math and only just received it on September 23 over a month after my accident. The first thing their calculations show is that the first two cars used in the evaluation are listed in Alberta that are selling for $7000 less than here in BC. I'm paying for insurance in BC, my cars evaluation shouldn't be based off of what that car may cost in a whole other province. Once I told Adrian that I dont believe this is appropriate and my cars evaluation should be based off of vehicles in BC, he told me that they would only offer me one more evaluation and if I dont accept that, I will have to basically sue them to get the money they owe me. Mind you I had asked for the math 3 times and only just received it on September 23rd. If you're looking for insurance, save yourself the trouble and dont use someone that will scam you the whole way through.

Their policy is against a common sense in parts. Got flat tire, was managed to drive to the closest tire center. Upon investigation, it was found that tire is non-repairable, hence asked to install a spare one. Then, I've asked to reimburse spare tire service only as per Roadside Assistance coverage. I received a refusal, since policy wordings is "vehicle must be disabled". So, if I was to wait for situation to become worse - wait until tire completely loses air and then ask to mount a spare tire from some mobile tow service - then it works; yet, it does not work in my case when I wanted to solve the issue in the most simplest and logical way. I don't think incentivizing people to wait until situation deteriorates is a proper policy writing! And their adjuster Melanie is not helpful at all. I genuinely hope that in her personal experience she would never receive as bad customer service as she provides! She would have scored "0" stars if reviews allow it

My experience with them was terrible. Don’t buy any insurance because you will waste your money as they will give you some information first then they deny whatever they said. I had an accident and my car was written off. On my first call I asked the representative Michael what if I don’t want to buy a car or want to wait for a time and he said it is up to you. We are paying the difference l. Also my husband asked the same question and he completely assured us that we don’t need to buy a car. We decided to wait and get the money and order an electric car however they refuse our claim and said you HAVE TO SHOW THE PROOF OF BUYING A CAR unless you are not entitled to get any money back. They don’t have any simpathy. They are true liars. He is late in responding and you have to keep follow up yourself. I know they don’t care to even read these comments but im just writing this review for other people. If you argue with them they might even accuse you for doing insurance fraud because you decide not to get any car for a while. DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THEM.

I had a insurance policy through this company for my car. First off I hadn't received any paperwork for it. Second. I sold my car in February and forgot about said policy. I was told they would backdate the payments to April. Also I was told it my take a week to see the money. That was on July 6th. It is now August 8th.
