I am really upset after shopping here. Although the store is large and has a wide range of selections, the owner is a shameless and bald-faced liar.
For context: She opened a bit later for my sister and I, as we were still browsing, but then proceeded to pretend to be a staff and told us that she would have her pay docked if we didn’t buy anything. She kept repeating it, guilting and pressuring us, so we each ended up buying a $300 qipao. We felt we had to.
She also claimed everything was custom designed by the owner (bear in mind this is while she was pretending to be her own staff) and that every piece was one of a kind (they’re not) and that they have their own manufacturing factory (they don’t).
Then, when we asked to pay to have the qipao tailored to fit, she claimed our breasts were too small and she couldn’t tailor unless we came back wearing push-up bras. What?? Later, we find out from another (actual) staff member that it turns out she just didn’t want to do the tailoring work herself and wanted us to come back when her actual staff was here so they would do it.
Finally, her prices are far more expensive. The same quality qipao that I purchased for $300 at Ochi, I later discovered was $60 at Rising Sun.
But honestly, that’s not what I’m most upset about. I’m upset about being lied to, scammed, and honestly borderline harassed into buying a dress at her store. What’s the point? I was a willing customer at that point. It just made me feel like a fool that was taken advantage of.
Come here if you truly like the product, I guess. But if you want an honest owner, you won’t find it here.
Wendy, shame on you. I won’t be returning.

The owner was incredibly sweet and accommodating. She was able to find a dress in my size and alter it immediately despite being plus sized. I would highly recommend to anyone looking for traditional Chinese dresses!

We stumbled across OCHI completely by accident and what a hidden treasure! They specialize in Chinese dresses (unbeatable selection of traditional and contemporary styles), but we were delighted to discover they have beautiful gala / prom dresses too! The selection is small, but what they have is unique, well displayed and made and intricately detailed. We haven't seen gowns like this anywhere else, and best yet, prices are about half of other bridal shops (we've visited many)! Prices may be lower, but the quality is high: most dresses have a built-in bra and a hidden back placket for an adjustable fit (instead of the shoelace style with open back). The store and fitting area is roomy and staff helpful at both Chinatown and Steveston locations. When we ordered the dress, it was measured for the length needed so we don't need to spend hundreds of dollars more on alterations. After trying on almost 100 dresses, we finally "said yes to the dress" at OCHI. Thank you, Wendy!

If I could rate this store 10/5 stars, I would. My husband and I were looking for coats and cheongsams before we walked into Ochi and wandering through Chinatown, found ourselves here. Wendy went above and beyond to help us find the perfect outfits and eventually let spill that the store wasn't actually open on Tuesdays. She just happened to be in the store that day to wait for a customer to come by to pick up a dress, and we walked in when she was supposed to close the store an hour earlier! Never have I seen better customer service go above and beyond like Wendy! Ochi is very lucky to have this wonderful lady. ❤️

The ladies here are honestly so nice. We got some really beautiful qipao and jackets here. There's so much variety and we liked the styles much more than the store across the street. It can be a bit pricey but it's worth it (support local businesses!). They also offer alterations which were super quick. Would come back again!

Thank goodness for this store, qipaos are so tough to buy online, not knowing exact sizing. The owner was really nice and accommodating. There is a variety of styles, some more modern, which I liked. She even tailored same day for me after I told her I was only going to be in Vancouver for one day!

I’ve purchased 4 beautiful cheongsams from Wendy at OCHI, and I know I’ll be wearing these pieces for years to come, and will hand them down to my daughter when she’s old enough.I recently went to OCHI again for a new Chinese dress for this year’s celebrations, and being a singer/performer, I knew I wanted something that fit perfectly, had great style, and something I would be able to get lots of wear in the future. Together, we picked the perfect one, and she tailored it to fit my size.Thank you for the great service. I will be back again for more dresses and will be recommending you to everyone!
