My favourite liquor store!

High Point is the closest liquor store to me and I use it on occasion.
The selection is very good and the prices are fairly average for a private business.
I was just there and sadly the experience I felt seems to be the new normal.
After the advent of adding tips to the debit system I find that the quality of the customer service has declined.
I am a retiree and while I am happy to pay extra for the convenience of having a store in my neighbourhood, I am not always at liberty to tip.
When I walk up to the till a number of staff are very outgoing and friendly. When I have paid and declined to tip the attitude abruptly changes.
I have had staff completely ignore my thanks and goodbyes.
I have even made comment on the wide selection of gins after the sale and had absolutely no response, just the receipt thrust at me.
This was never the case before the tipping option appeared.
I always approach people with the same level of courtesy and respect.
It feels disingenuous to have staff swooning with kind regards then giving stone cold silence.
It makes me prefer to take a bigger journey to the nearest BC Liquor store.

You can earn points here by signing up. They accept clean empties, 24 per person, per day. Very great deals here, amd they have pre-made summer drinks to mix, including the contain to mix it in!

The Asian man (not sure of his name, I didn’t get it) working at the cash register looked at my ID and said I looked fat in the photo. It’s probably the weirdest and most shocking thing an employee of an establishment has said to me. I then asked him why he said this and he said “you know what man I’m sorry” however this was in a super rude tone. He then walked around the counter of the cash register and stuck out his hand to shake mine. I was hesitant as the way he was acting was very outlandish and extremely odd but I did so anyway and proceeded to walk out the door. However as I walk walking out he was staring me down the whole time in a super hostile way. I really hope this isn’t how this guy normally acts because he isn’t a good look for the business at all. How rudely and aggressively I was helped was concerning, no employee should ever body shame a customer, or act hostile and aggressive in anyway.

I bought 3 different tall beers and when I checked out, the dude working there put on a recyclable cap that held all 3 beers securely. I really appreciate the convenience since my bag was full of groceries and I would've had trouble carrying my things up to my place. You guys are chill awesome people!

Went there with an empty can in a beer coozy. A short male employee approached me and grabbed it from my hand and asked "what's in the can?" Once he realized it had nothing in it, he immediately made a point to tell me to leave. I put it in my bag and told him it was my bad and that I understand. He said he didn't care and that I have to leave. I was respectful and am in my 30s, this guy just wanted to feel authoritive and feel like the man. I walked a few blocks and bought $120 of wine and will never go back to high point. Customer service 101, customer retention is far more important than a little man's ego

Great neighborhood bottle shop. Knowledgeable and friendly staff. Awesome points reward system. Great prices and selection. Small parking lot to the right of the business, or street parking at night. Better than any BCL around. Love this place.

the middle aged blonde female cashier questioned my valid id and made me very uncomfortable and it was rude imply it looked like me but also didnt in front of customers+ explain to her peoples looks can change from the time they get their ID photos taken (different hair color, weight or lack of makeup)
