Old building but well maintained and fairly clean. Pets are allowed. Shared communal kitchens and washrooms. Staff lacks warmth and is no not very useful.

The above picture, is not a true reflection on the likelihood of what a room there, would be. Better than many in the neighborhood, calling Columbia (street) Hotel a 'Student Hotel' is still a stretch, although less of one...

I do not recommend this place. When I got to my room after work it was full of cockroaches. They were all over the floor, my clothes and even my bed. It couldn't have been my fault because I just moved in there and everything I brought in was clean and I never had a problem with cockroaches before.It took two days to contact the Manager and she didn't feel the need to come over or do anything about the cockroaches. In the middle of the second night I could finally move to a room on the fourth floor. I stayed there for three nights but decided to move out there too because in the kitchen and on the hallway on the fourth floor were cockroaches too. After four days I could finally talk to the manager in person. She still made me pay $80/night which is almost half month rest. When I told her to solve the problem she said that they're already doing the best they can. Seems not to be enough in that case. Very disappointed and I am sorry for the next person who moves to that room.At least the receptionists were very nice and tried to do their best to help me out.

So more than a year later, the owner who never even saw my face in the hotel replies to my review with untruthful info about me 9 hrs ago. Im sorry, but saying these things just prove my point of how unprofessional you are sir. How can an owner of such place have the courage of trying to say lies about my personal hygiene since you never saw me. I'm sorry if my comment hurt your feelings. Perhaps if you put the same effort into improving your hotel rather than trying make very old tenants who are no longer staying there for more than a year look bad, such comments like my own wouldn't be necessary.

I lived here for a few months while I went to school around the corner. It's in a rough neighbourhood of Vancouver and seemed sketchy at first. However they are very good about keeping people who don't live there out. They are quite friendly and a lot of the people staying there are students as well. They clean your room weekly and make sure the facilities are clean. It's not fancy, but it's cheap for living in downtown Vancouver, and if you can sleep despite the random homeless person outside yelling, (doesn't matter where you live downtown) I would recommend it. Maybe think twice if you're a girl as it is close to where a lot of "colourful" people live.

Dirty sheets, dirty bathrooms the staff is nice but this place is far from being a hotel. The location is nice but the drug addicts shooting heroin all around the building make it hard to enjoy the place. I even heard a girl die there from cocaine overdose.

My daughter was dead in this hotel at july 2018She use this hotel only 11 dayBut this hotel did not pay deposit and rent payment for a month.We called but We did not positive answer.

Not great! Unless your in town to visit Hastings & Main Street and the strip you may want to stay else were.
