I am having a terrible experience (ongoing) with PODS. We got their services for our Canada-US move and rented a 16ft container for that. The delivery and pick up of container was very timely. However, our nightmare started after that. We are supposed to be physically present in the US before our container arrives at border. PODS helps facilitate custom paperwork which is handled by their special services PPW unit. After a day of arriving in US, I submitted the required paperwork and waited for their review and approval. I had scheduled the container pick up for transit thinking that they need 72hrs for processing the paperwork. They didn't process and cancelled our pick-up while charging us for the transit ($8000). It has been almost 3 weeks since and we have no clue about the paperwork and our container is still sitting in Canada. The customer care has no idea about the status of our paperwork as their custom handling dept. works separately from them and nobody from this dept. is replying to our emails or updating us on our paperwork. I am in a very bad situation as we have 2 little kids (17month and 5yr) and old parents who are having a very difficult time in living without their bare necessary items. It's 3 weeks and counting and we have no idea when they will approve and then add 2-3 weeks more for transit (includes custom clearance) after approval, whereby we will be charged extra fees after 1 month. I had used a different vendor for our prior US-CA move and literally faced no issue. We tried PODS for the first time and can't explain how much we regret our decision. Would definitely not recommend to anyone for cross border or cross-country move as they would unnecessarily delay things.

From booking the POD to accessing it at the endpoint, everyone I spoke with was professional and helpful.Special thanks to Sean at the Surrey location, who did everything possible to ensure we had access to our POD in a timely manner, alleviating moving day frustration!

Scam of a buisness! Not only did we find a mouse in our PODS unit but they charged us an entire month when we no longer even have the POD and are refusing to refund us any more than 1/3 of our monthly bill... absolutely ridiculous.Customer ID: 166577548Complaint # 1386580

Thought this was a good company but they won't refund me... because pod was dropped off on the april 20th and there till the 22nd. If it was picked up on the 21 or 20th they would of refunded me. Yet they wouldn't let me do same day pickup? Nd they wouldn't pickup on the Sunday. So we got charged for those days even though they wouldn't pick up on either of the days. So watch out for the con!

I would give 0 stars if I could. I used this company as it was supposed to make moving easier, but they made it very stressful and difficult. Their online reservation systems allows bookings on days that they don’t actually work. The man who called me to reschedule was extremely condescending and made it seem like it was my fault, and ended up rescheduling me on another date that they were closed. Trying to come to a resolution with them was like speaking to a brick wall, they kept saying there was nothing they could do even though it was their mistake. Do yourself a favour and either spend a little bit more and hire movers, or spend way less and rent a U-Haul.

It is ridiculous...I used PODS 10 years ago and I could go to your office and talk to a person and get all the info I needed. I recommend you to my friend now and I can't find a person to talk to except one call to a New Brunswick sales service person who doesn't have a list of the sizes of the Pods nor where your storage are. You only have an online order form for people to fill out. I am so shocked at how you don't really care about business nor people. No more business for you!!!

Extremely friendly and helpful but you have to be careful when given a number to call as that number could very well be a US number.Apart from that, my main issue is the dishonored quotes. They'll give you a quote, you save it and take a day or 2 to decide. You call back to give them your quote #, and they give you a different price. You explain the situation and even show them screenshots of the original quote, but they'll convince you that they're doing everything possible to give you the best discount possible. This happened over 3 or 4 different times with different prices each time and sometimes all within the span of 30 minutes (they give a quote, i complain that its higher than the original, im then given another quote that is slightly lower, i complain again, i'm then given a higher quote than the previous 2....and so on) The biggest issue is? This didn't happen with a low level sales rep, but with a very high level executive in management (I'd rather not give names, but just to give a better idea about the company's methods). When I saw this mess, I decided I better find somewhere else to store my products before our issues grow and become problematic in the future.PS. If you book with pickup/delivery, you get a cheaper quote in the long run (if you decide to rent for longer than 3 months)Apart from that whole mess, he was extremely helpful, replying at all hours of the day, and very understanding and professional. The customer service center was also the same.

Terrible Customer Service.Has no problem charging your card every month for the rental but then as soon as you need it moved " Something is wrong with you account or card". No one helps you just tells you call your credit card that continues to get charged monthly from PODS and whatever else you use it for no problem.

Today, I arrived at the Surrey facility to access my POD for the final time (if you want to know why for the “final” time, just continue reading about my experience with this company). I even hired a handyman to go out of their way and meet me at PODS to transport these last large items. I was totally able to successfully make a booking on MyPods and even received email confirmations, but the facility was completely locked when I arrived at 10AM. I even double checked on Google Maps, which as of this moment, still says that they’re open on Saturdays from 8-4pm. Both my handyman and I were completely shocked and beside ourselves that a STORAGE FACILITY would make a change to be CLOSED ON THE WEEKEND. It was completely embarrassing to have to send my helper away and reschedule for NO good reason. This was apparently in effect as of Dec 23, but is an absolutely backwards decision if you ask any person. I had to call the PODS main office once again, and they rescheduled me for next week — this should never have happened and these dates should have been blacked out on MyPods/updated on Google Maps, if these hours have been in effect for this long.The story continues. Update on Jan 13, 2024:While on the phone with the PODS rep, I discovered that apparently, NONE of these previous claims or concerns I submitted below were ever even actually filed with PODS, OR THE INSURANCE COMPANY. Just reps “taking notes on my file.” What an absolutely horrendous experience from start to finish (was supposed to “finish” today, but couldn’t due to the situation above). Do not ever use PODS for any service, unless you want chaos.The basic details:PODS dropped my container from 3+ feet high, still waiting to access the container and assess the damage, they won’t contact you even if there’s a big problem, there’s only one phone number for the whole company, they advertise that they only need 24-48h notice from you to give you access to your POD but it’s actually several days later, advertises that they’re open for business on Google Maps AND bookable on MyPods when they’re actually NOT open leaving customers stranded, and many, many other issues. Likely at the very least over $1000 in damages that haven’t been rectified yet.Another PSA for potential future PODS customers — during booking, PODS told me that I would simply need to give 24h notice for them to place my container outside, so I can access it any time that day. I originally went with PODS due to this seemingly quick, easy and accessible method of simply giving 24 notice, or else I would have gone with any other moving/storage company where you can just access it at any time. This is not true, and available appointments are often only available many days or weeks out.

I was fortunate to received a 10% military veteran discount for it did cost a good bit to ship my 16 ft POD from Ontario to B.C. However, had I driven across the country hauling, it would have been pricey as well and probably, more stressful. The communication from any of the POD staff, either in person or via telephone, was stellar.

We were very pleased with entire service. The driver was very professional, personal and clearly enjoyed his job. We will be using Pods again and will highly recommend them to everyone! Thank you! AAAAA+++++

Had a great experience with PODS! No hidden cost , no surprise or shocks .Straight forward planning and storing .Containers options are great !No weight headache and stuffRecommend this highly for stress free moving .

Get insurance if you use these guys. They have rats in their facility that can easily get into the containers and destroy everything in there. Sadly, using these guys destroyed my mother's entire estate and all of my things as well. $100,000s in destruction of extremely sentimental items. It was an absolute nightmare to open and have to kill a pack of rats. At least one of which escaped so Alberta has rats now for the time being. Heartbreaking stuff. Great idea and cool tech, but rats...

Customer service staff are polite and respectful and willing to help. Situation is unique due to financial issues on my end. My criticism is that information is not related to all parties involved and thereby delays and additional charges are being made. This is unacceptable and needs to be rectified immediately. I cannot in good conscience refer this organization to anyone until theses issues are corrected.
